Although the waitresses were nice enough, they did not pay attention to the table at all. The tall dirty blonde lady was very sweet and attentive although she was helping other tables as well. It took 10-15 minutes just for our drip coffee to come out. And even then, the coffee was not very good. You could taste how watered down it was. I don't know how but the food was incredibly mediocre. Couldn't even finish the rest of my burrito. The steak was pretty good though. The ketchup was super sweet and the hot sauce was super tart. On a work trip, I stopped in here for breakfast and I'm so glad I did!! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. I sat at the counter and was well taken care of and frequently checked on. You might not expect such a cute cafe behind the gas station but this is for sure a hidden gem! Parking is easy and there's a lot so you won't have to worry about finding a spot. The restaurant has a large opening so it's majority inside seating and a couple tables are outside. Dog friendly! The ambiance feels welcoming for locals and tourists. When we walked in it was busy but we were still greeted and sat immediately. The chairs were plus size friendly and comfy. The service was amazing from drinks to food we had multiple different waitresses (maybe owner or manager) checking on us. The biscuits were large, warm, and fluffy! I would get them again! Located in the former home of Maison, Doheny Cafe has done the work to keep this spot as a nice breakfast stop on your way to or from the beach across the street. The menu is simple with many of the regular stuff you'd expect (waffles, burrito, avo toast) so it's not really blazing a trail as far as innovation, but the food looks and tastes good - is reasonably priced and the place is casual enough that you'd come often with or without the kids. The decor is nice though the place feels like it had a limited budget overall - but the restaurant is focused on the food and the service and they've done a good job. Terrible service, average food. First of all, I have really enjoyed their other two restaurants and wanted to like this one. I did enjoy the atmosphere but everything else fell short. After being seated it took awhile to get menus. My wife and daughter just ordered water and I asked for coffee. Even though it wasn't that busy several minutes passed before the server came back to take our orders. I still hadn't got my coffee. I ordered sausage and eggs. When it came, there was no S&P on the table. I asked for that along with hot sauce and jelly for the toast. My food sat. The server obviously forgot. I asked another server who brought it a few minutes later. My food was now cold. I had to flag the server down to get a refill of coffee. Pretty basic service issues that were ignored. read more

A cute cafe for brunch right across from Doheny Beach. It had a steady crowd on a Saturday at noon, but luckily my boyfriend and I were able to get a table. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, which was delicious and had lots of cheese and yummy walnut pesto and came with a crisp and light side salad. My boyfriend had the breakfast burrito. Great food, we came with a party of 11. The restaurant was not busy, and there were many seats/tables available. We waited about 30 minutes for no reason, till they finally offered an "alternative" option for seating. Our food and drinks took another 45 minutes to come out. Finally got to try this place out last time we camped at Doheny beach. It's right across the street from the beach so def walking distance. The food was amazing and the staff was super friendly. We went during the week so service was super fast. It does get really packed on the weekends so keep that in mind.
