I've been taking my dog to Dogtopia since they first opened. I've used them for daycare, boarding and for grooming. First of all - my dog loves this place. When I pack up his food he knows he's going and waits by the door until we leave. When we arrive he races out of the car and inside. Dogs know a good thing. Secondly - this Dogtopia is spotless. I've been to a number of other doggy daycares and they all - well - smell. This place always seems like it just got a scrub down even after a long day when I pick up my dog. Thirdly - the staff is awesome. Always happy. Super friendly and they know your dog and are attentive to him. I've never once had any issues with other dogs or any problems. The staff in the playrooms are always on top of any drama that might happen. If your dog has any special needs they handle it as well as you would. They are totally trustworthy. Dogtopia Purcellville is easily the best dog daycare and boarding in Northern VA. I've recommended them to all my friends and neighbors. Overall an amazing place!

Their foundation board of causes they support

Every time my Pup and I walk in we are always greeted with smiles and they all know her by name! She gets so excited every time we start to turn towards the road they're on because she knows she's going to daycare. The best part is definitely the cameras- I just keep it on my desk sometimes when I'm working to check in. Even my co-workers stop by to see what's going on! Seeing others care for my dog as I do, and the games and activities she gets to enjoy makes me feel better than when I used to leave her at home during my long work hours. They also support service dogs for veterans and have "foundation days". It's really like sending my pup to a family members house. If you're even thinking about giving them a shot, do!!

Puncture wounds sustained while at Dogtopia and inflicted by a Mastiff.

Update: spoke to a vet whose opinion was that a dog sending another dog to the emergency vet for injuries was not "dogs being dogs" as the Dogtopia owner seemed to think. Additionally, our second dog was just diagnosed with kennel cough which she likely contracted during this stay as Dogtopia sent out an email about a kennel cough breakout in their facility. Original post: Our medium sized elder dog was bitten multiple times by a Mastiff that required vet care during his stay here and the Dogtopia owner's (Tom) handling of the situation could've been better. Overall the staff was great, but there exist some concerns: Tom, the owner, did not apologize once, show concern, or even call to check in. Per a staff member I spoke to, the Mastiff was still there several days later after the incident in open play with other dogs despite causing damage to another dog that required vet care. Additionally, the pet parent agreement appears to be subjective to the Dogtopia owner's interpretation as it states... " I am solely responsible for any harm, including to any other dog(s)... caused by my dog(s) while my dog(s) is/are attending Dogtopia of Purcellville." The way I understand this, as well as an attorney friend who read it, was that the dog owner of the Mastiff should be financially responsible for the vet bill. Reasonable expectation. When my wife asked whether we could get the contact information of the Mastiff's dog owners to discuss being recompensed for the vet bill the Dogtopia owner refused. And I can understand that for privacy reasons, but then he didn't offer to pass the vet bill or our contact information though we were willing to have it shared. He also wasn't willing to share the video but did offer to have us view it in person. I drove there after work and viewed it for myself. After viewing it three times, I concluded it could potentially be dogs being dogs and given the vet bill was on the lower end ($261) decided to drop it. However, it begged the question if I didn't decide to drop it, as to how liability is enforced if Dogtopia wasn't willing to pass on the vet bill or our contact info with our permission to the Mastiff's dog owners. Dogtopia certainly did not offer to cover the expenses or deduct it from the boarding bill. I then proceeded to share my concerns with Tom, the owner. He didn't have a good answer as the takeaway I got was that the liability clause was subjective. At the end of the day, another dog caused damage to my dog and Dogtopia was unwilling to hold the responsible dog's owner liable. He made a comment along the lines of, "I've dealt with many lawyers" which was concerning. It may possibly have meant that he was discouraging me to pursue legal recourse, or that this sort of thing happens a lot where people are forced to get a lawyer. He also got up and walked away from me while I was sharing my concerns about the liability form. Note: The staff handled it great (shout out to Patrick et al). The staff called us immediately the day it happened and were very apologetic, explained that our dog had not been the aggressor, and were very concerned and recommended veterinary care. The staff also separated the dogs as best they could immediately from what I saw in the video. Staff was also very friendly during every interaction. This is more a review of the owner/management and the processes for dealing with an incident such as this.

Pebbles (blue heeler, 1.5 years old) would never listen to me, would not sit or lay still, and had a lot of other obedience issues that caused her to be stressed or confused. She was a TOUGH dog to train and I was concerned I couldn't find the solution for her to get basic concepts. This view has completely changed since working with RSK9's 3 week program. I would HIGHLY recommend them and their methods - you can tell they genuinely love working with dogs and it's made a huge difference in giving my dog the chance to find real rest at home. They send DAILY updates with photos and videos which was so nice. This isn't a regular class or something you just pay for; it's truly an investment that you and your dog will be using for the time you get to share together. Side note: it's worth doing 3 weeks versus 2 weeks. At the 2 week mark is when Pebbles really started to understand her marks and cues. From here there is so much more that can be refined and Brandi/Perry really capitalize on that threshold being crossed!

Initially we checked out the Ridgeside Instagram account and then after contacting them for additional information we decided to sign Flossie up for the 3 week board & train program. We were given our trainer's contact info in case we had any questions or wanted additional info prior to the start date. Gina picked up Flossie and for the next three weeks we got pictures and videos every day of Flossie's training progress plus also information for us to learn about the training. All of this made the transition back home easy and seamless. Gina's instructions were clear and concise and she also made sure that we understood the hows and the whys of training. Since Flossie has been home Gina reached out to see how things were going and said she was available if we had any follow up questions. We are very happy with the outcome and feel the training really firmed up our loosey goosey training up to that point. Gina gave Flossie the foundational training she needed in order for us to meet our goals with Flossie and we couldn't be happier with the outcome.

After spending three nights at an emergency vet, with countless tests and mounting bills, Brown was only getting worse. I truly thought I was going to lose him. Desperate and scared, I reached out to my breeder, Sean Donovan (Friendly Kittens) who urged me to see Dr. Campbell at Blue Ridge. From the moment we walked in, I felt hope for the first time. Dr. Campbell didn't just treat Brown -- she saw him. She understood the urgency and handled everything with such care, focus, and professionalism. She didn't sugar coat things which I appreciated. Within 24 hours of her treatment, Brown started eating again. He got up and walked around. After days of watching him fade, seeing those small signs of life brought me to tears. He wasn't out of the woods yet, but it was the first real sign that he was coming back to me. Dr. Campbell didn't just heal my cat -- she gave me back a piece of my heart. I'll never forget what she did for us. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
