DOGSPA hurt my dog and has avoided speaking to us about it. Vet diagnosed our dog with a strangulation injury from excessively hard tugging on her leash or falling off grooming table while leashed after visiting this groomer. She is a sweet pup who didn't deserve this. Unfortunately, due to their lack of concern/effort to give us any information, I need to write a negative review; and that's to inform others so they can choose to avoid this business and protect their dogs. I was told at drop off they were short staffed. This is probably part of the safety issue which could have caused my dog's injury to happen. I picked up my dog and was told they did not finish her grooming/excess shedding treatment because she was really nervous with the high velocity dryer (last visit they were able to finish and dry her completely). The owner brought my dog to me still damp and shedding. I was understanding, I paid the full price even though it was not full treatment. I did not notice anything amiss until I got home and my husband saw her eye was completely blood shot and swollen. We brought her to urgent care vet immediately after being unable to reach DOGSPA over the phone to inquire what happened. They surmised she had a strangulation injury causing a hemorrhage in her eye. My dog was sore and stiff all over the next day, barely getting up from her bed, and limping/sore for days after. Business owner did not call back for a couple days, and left a voicemail saying something along the lines of "your dog was fine when she left with your wife!" We have called and left multiple voicemails since and cannot get a call back. It has been weeks. We are understanding that accidents happen, but the failure to disclose what happened or simply look into what happened is unsettling. I would not recommend anyone bring their dog here. There is no proper action, communication, or basic empathy from their end. read more

I have been bringing my dogs here for almost twenty years. They are kind and loving and do a great job. My dog loves going here.

Twice we left our puppy here for grooming. She is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel so she needs her anal gland expressed periodically. We specifically asked to have that done and it was not done either time. So we had to take our pup to the vet to get her very compacted anal gland expressed the following week. The first time we went here the grooming was fine because there was not much that needed to be done for the puppy (other than the failure to express her anal gland) but the second time was a disaster. When the groomer came out to bring our pup back to the grooming area, she lifted her up by the harness, to my fright. Anyone who has been around dogs knows that is not the way to pick up a dog!! I asked that they clip her ears close, but not take much off the body, not to shave her. When we picked her up, her ears were shaggy and her body had been nearly shaved, the exact opposite of what we had agreed to. We will not be going back to Dog Spa. It seems to be a very scatterbrained operation with unprofessional grooming and uncaring service. Our neighbor recently took her dog here and she came back with a cut ear. read more

I do not understand the negative reviews for this business, perhaps they are true and correct but I have never seen or experienced anything described. The owner is a darling of a woman, the store is very clean and well stocked. The staff seem very caring and do a great job grooming my 135 lb. Central Asian Shepard. Ears, nails, shedding treatment etc., all of these are excellent by my experience. The dog is totally dry and gorgeous when she comes home! The value is unparalleled, have you ever washed a dog?? Not so happy customer. Dog was at the groomers for 6 hours only to pick him up looking like the same dog but with a bandana. Sorry to be TMI, but he still had dingleberries on him, maybe even more somehow than when I dropped him off, and the wet marks under his eyes. It was also SO expensive. I can't believe how much I paid for this service. I also had to call to see if he was ready because I never received a call and it was almost the end of the day. He's soft but what dog isn't soft after a bath. read more

Besides not returning calls they are way understaffed. Owner must be bleeding the staff to pay for the Mercedes. Dog Spa was perfect for our new puppy! They had a full assortment of items ranging from snacks to shampoo, leashes, outfits, etc. for our puppy. They even had a puppy class which included a free grooming! The instructors in the class were great and I definitely recommend this class to anyone! We were also very happy with their customer service. I bought a collar that was too big, and brought it back a week later for a smaller size. It turned out that they didn't have that size in stock, so they ordered it immediately and it was an easy exchange! They also had a sale recently on some of their "old season" items and I found some great deals for christmas presents for our puppy. When I didn't know which size jacket would fit on my dog, one of the employees went out back during her grooming to measure her so that I bought the right size. I am very pleased with the customer service and offerings that DOGSPA has to offer! :) read more

Zoe (my maltipoo aka the cutest dog ever) comes here about once a month depending on the season. They are a full service salon, but they also offer baked goods and cool clothes for the loved ones. Zoe has been to many groomers and she usually comes out very shaken and looking a mess. Missy (her groomer at Dog Spa) does a good job listening to what I ask for and I never have to pull Zoe's claws out of my clothes as I try to hand her over. When I heard about Dog Spa people warned me that it was expensive and I disagree to an extent. The clothes are on the expensive side, but I've made much steeper prices for a far lower level of satisfaction for both clothes and grooming services. Dog Spa knows what they are doing. Zoe is happy, so I'm happy. read more

I took my dogs for grooming with the specific instruction how to do it. When I picked them up their faces were nearly touched. When I got home I noticed spots that was not groomed properly and my dogs did not smelled good as they weren't even shampooed. Ever since my dogs been acting strange and very snappy, they were never like that it feels like I picked up different dogs. One of them is acting lot worse than my others and he has been throwing up and Foaming from his mouth, I'm taking him to vet and let's pray to god nothing is wrong with him. We brought our poodle-mix here this week for nails and a trim. We wanted to leave his fur as long as possible to stay warm--it's been below 20 degrees each day, so we figured the groomer would be the best way to get a few mats out without making him look silly. Instead, Dog Spa gave him a super short puppy cut because he "didn't like the brush," charged us $60, and he's been skittish and trembly since. If they had called to ask about going shorter we would have just done nails and brushed him out ourselves. Wouldn't recommend. read more

They have some nice stuff for purchase but be absolutely sure that you want to own any of their accessories before you buy it. My wife bought some ceramic bowls to store treats in but after she got them home decided they wouldn't work for us. When she tried to return them she was told DogSpa ONLY accepts returns within 7 days of purchase and ONLY for store credit. This was more than 7 days after purchase but not significantly more, probably 14. Needless to say we will be putting the bowls up on EBay (NIB) and not buying any more stuff at DogSpa. read more

I have fielded complaints from my friends about Dog Spa, letting them know how much I enjoy the store and the staff....and have sent them business from my family, as well. Like Evan S., I had a problem with a product, and found the Dog Spa return policy to be restrictive, apart from the stated policy of the product manufacturer to cheerfully accept returns and issue a refund. I am very disappointed about the breach in the relationship with the staff and the owner, and can only back up my conviction by not giving them my business any longer. There is plenty of competition in the area, and it would seem wise not to alienate and insult loyal customers. read more

When you walk in, it's a nice store, with great options for your pets. Please don't get your dog groomed here. My sweet girl, Nilly, who was a miniature white poodle, was dropped off to be groomed here a few years back and half way in between the grooming my family member receives a call from the groomer saying that he put a muzzle on my dog and "somehow" ended up cutting her with scissors to the point the hair cut could not be finished and she was GUSHING BLOOD from her neck area and the guy said WE SHOULD BRING HER TO THE VET. My family member forced this horrible disgusting employee to go to the vet HIMSELF so the dog knew that HE hurt her not US. Nilly had to have half of her fur completely shaved off by THE VET might I add because of this. Nilly had been scarred for the rest of her life and would think she was dying every time entering a groomers salon since that experience. This company is very lucky and blessed that I was a child at the time of hearing this news. If it was today I would spend every last dollar I have SUEING THIS COMPANY AND SHUTTING THEIR DOORS. Your dogs life and mental state MATTERS GREATLY. You're welcome, "Dog Spa", for not suing you or exposing your terrible abusive dog grooming company sooner. Thank you for making my dog gush out blood as if that's normal. The fact that your doors are even open should be illegal. We took our 4 month old golden retriever for her first groom to start getting her used to the process. The team there was very helpful to us as first time dog owners! The puppy groom is only $40 and included nail clipping, two baths, an ear cleaning and a full brush out. We asked them to add an ear hair and paw hair trim and they did it, no extra charge. The owner was there, which is always a good sign to me and they gave us great tips for hair brushing, etc. We will definitely be back! read more

We have been to several groomers and Dog Spa is far and above the best one we have ever been to or seen. The facility is so high tech and clean. They segregate the waiting dogs in a quiet area away from all the noises of blowers and clippers etc..My two Mini Schnauzers never seem to have any nervousness issues there as they have had with other groomers. All this and Dog Spa's prices don't seem to be any more than any other groomer in the area. But that's not all not only is Dog Spa a 1st class grooming establishment but they sell top quality dog food (the kinds we should all be feeding our dogs) and treats as well as other sundries to spoil your pooch. The staff are all friendly, helpful and kind. I wanted to update my review because there are many other pet food stores opening up in the area. I just want to say that what Dog Spa has that these others do not is knowledge and very good personal service. The staff at Dog Spa are all very knowledgeable about the products they sell especially pet foods. They even hold classes from time to time which are very helpful. read more

We bring our three pomeranians here and we see laurie. Laurie is very helpful, giving me helpful tips on what products to use for the dry skin and dandruff our poms encounter. We have two goldens that we only bring to be groomed twice a year. Dog Spa seemed pretty good the first couple of times but then one of my goldens got a hot spot after being there. Mind you, my dogs are not prone to hot spots nor have had any before or since then. At the next appointment I mentioned it but they shrugged it off as not their fault. The last straw was when I dropped off and let them know one of the dogs ears was real matted behind his ears. (Love Knots) I said i had once tried to rid him of them and left a good sized hole in the back of his ear!! I was so upset I swore never to touch his ears again! I said i'll leave that to the professionals. Well needless to say the so called"professionals" left a gaping hole behind his ear and never even mentioned it!! I didn't notice until later that day! NEVER AGAIN!!! If I could give something less than one star, I would have. We have been bringing our dog to Dog Spa for three years and didn't really have any complaints until recently. Shortly after a grooming appointment we noticed some fluid coming from the inside of our dog's ears. Not sure what was wrong with our dog, we brought him to the vet to find out what was wrong. The vet told us that his ears were fine, just that he had some cuts on the inside of BOTH ears that were oozing (hence the fluid) and had begun to scab over. I explained that we had just had our dog groomed a few days prior and to that my vet replied, "maybe you should talk to your groomer." My wife called Dog Spa, explaining what had apparently happened, that the groomer trimmed the inside of my dogs ears too close to the point where he got razor burn. The woman on the phone was so rude to my wife, calling her a liar, saying that we were just trying to get money out of them, etc. that it brought my wife to tears. This was the OWNER who was speaking to my wife... I'm sorry, but if it were about money, we certainly would NOT be bringing our dog to Dog Spa considering how expensive it is. If this is how the owner, of all people, treats their long-time customers... then we will NEVER bring our dog back again, and we will make it a point to tell every dog owner that we know about our experience. read more

My boston terrier doesn't need much grooming, but we take him to DogSpa for baths and nail trims. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and he comes out clean, fresh, and happy. The store is high quality and spotless (unlike a lot of the smelly dog stores). Its a little pricey but I would never go anywhere else! read more

They have a dietitian on site, very knowledgeable and aware of the Proctor & Gambel change of formulas in their Evo, Innova and California dog foods. The Dog Spa is now offering Orijen dog food. Their dietitian emphasized the 80% protein in this food, sourced in Canada. They offer the big bags @ $64.00 & the fifteen pound bags @ $39.00 which is a fantastic price. Don't hold me to the prices as I receive a professional discount. But their prices and services are unsurpassed. But their grooming and boutique accessories is what separates the average pet store from the high end Boutique. Their leather collars from: $55.00 to $155.00 but of the highest equine quality. They have sourced out fantastic Boutique Dog Winter Jackets for large and small dogs. With a "huge" selection ! :-) I walk into that store and can honestly say, for such a small store, they had everything I wanted and more ! Went there with my dog about a month ago for a nail trimming. When my pup came out there were bloody paw prints all over the floors at the store. They immediately brought out the styptic pen to stop the bleeding (which they should have checked before hand.) After I brought her home and felt her nails which were so roughed up and jagged in every which direction. Called the store, they did not offer a refund, but to bring her back to get them smoothed out. Why would I ever put my pup through that horrible experience again!? read more

Customer service...NOT! I have been into this establishment on 3 different occasions (thinking w/an open mind) that I would have a better experience the next time I visit. Well that has yet to be the case. The sales staff at DogSpa is incredibly snobby and off-putting...seriously, they are need of an inservice on what customer service is. Each time I've been, they have been unapproachable, give you the once over when you walk in, and essentially treat you as if you should be grateful that they are giving you their time! The groomer Denise however is a genuine professional and if it weren't for her talent and skill in managing our pet we would not put up w/the place. I actually cringe each time I take my wallet out because I hate to give anyone my financial support when they've treated me as they have. Dog Spa staff, if you are reading this..how about a ..."hello, how are you"..when someone enters the store...or a "how can I help you..or is there something in particular you need or are looking for today?? When I arrived to pick my dog up..not only did they not have him ready and needed an extra hour to finish, they failed to call me to let me know about it (glad I rushed from another appt to be there on time!). Also when I showed up at the desk..I stood there waiting in front of 3 staff members without one of them greeting me or asking what I was there for?? they stood and glared as if to say..what do YOU want?? I work with the public and know all too well what the challenges can be (not everyone is pleasant) but in this day and age, particularly when things financially are tight, you would think they'd be extra sensitive to being welcoming, even polite, to their customers. Their services are far from inexpensive..so I cannot imagine how they can afford to behave this way.
