Hounds Town separates the dogs well according to size and temperament, and even gives your dog an evaluation before you start with their facility. However, after being boarded for four days, when I picked up my dog, he had a severe ear infection. I wasn't upset that he had an ear infection that happens, but I was upset about how they didn't notice that for days and let me know prior to picking up my dog. As I was leaving, one of the staff mentioned that if I noticed his ear was red, they had tried to clean it to the best of their ability. When I looked at his ear, I immediately called the vet's office and got him in within the hour. His ear looked horrible! It looked as though it had bled & dried in his ear. The vet diagnosed him with a severe ear infection and said it didn't look like it had been attended to properly. Crystal, the owner from Hounds Town, did call me after she heard about the incident and we did talk. But with all that, the staff seemed very nice, and the facility seemed very clean.

The staff is awesome, very friendly and welcoming. They always greet Aspen by name, which says a lot about how much they care and pay attention to the dogs they see regularly. Aspen absolutely loves going, she gets so excited the second we pull up and always leaves tired and happy, which is exactly what I want to see after a stay. What I appreciate most is that I can really tell she's well taken care of while she's there. It gives me peace of mind when I have to leave her for a few days. Knocking off one star only because there wasn't much communication or updates during the stay (which some places do offer), but honestly, that's a small thing in an otherwise fantastic experience. His last grooming experience about 4 months ago by someone else resulting in him coming home still damp, like he hadn't been brushed, his paws not trimmed and his nails jagged with one of his dew claws split and bleeding. I hesitate to take Liam to places where he will be around other dogs because we are still working on his reactivity to other dogs. I decided I would try mobile grooming although it was pricier than I would like. I reviewed multiple mobile groomers and Luxe Hounds price point aligns with others and they had great reviews so I made my choice. My appointment was scheduled for around 12pm. I received a text letting me know they would be late because of an older dog taking more time than expected and offered to reschedule if needed. I opted to keep the same day since I was available all day. I received an update that they were able to make it to me by 1pm. I appreciated the communication and updates. Liam came back to me looking and feeling amazing! His paws and nails look so clean and neat. He was fully dry and I can tell he was brushed out well and blown out because I was rubbing and petting him for the rest of the day and there was ZERO shedding. Overall it was worth every penny!
