A Kennel "Club" had last minute canceled my reservation due to my doggy being elderly. That place left me hanging and it was already 3PM on a Sunday. Meanwhile, I have a flight the very next day. I also needed boarding for a 2nd dog. I found Doggy Be Good Kennel camp during a Google search. Mike, the owner was fantastic. He helped me accommodate my fur babies with less than 24 hours notice. The kennel grounds have been there 40+ years. The current owner has been there approximately 17 years. The years of experience and longtime dedication to dogs can be seen and sensed immediately. Mike assessed my "elderly" beautiful Shitzu girl and he knew the situation was safe for my Brandy. They gave her medication daily. They kept an extra "eye" on her. The dogs ate very well. I am confident my dogs were well protected. I highly recommend this place for every one. I felt at ease during their 10 day stay. read more

I didn't read it and thought it was just to check them out. Now I know better. The employee took me in the office first to sign, then brought me to them. I know what pee is. Paid 350 for puppy training class. trainer came late talked for 35 mins then asked for payment. Never taught or showed us anything, then left. Trainer was supposed to return but ever did. I called location and told them what happened, they took my information and said they will get back to me because I am supposed to have another session. That was a week ago and I still haven't herd from them. -_- I recommend finding a better trainer and 1 that will work with you. They are not worth the money. Also they trainer saw all the treats and supplies I had for my dog and continued to insist that I donate to their camp. If he was a decent trainer np but you was no help for $350 read more

Doggy Be Good has been a lifesaver! Our dog, Buttercup, is not the most friendly girl so we have had issues finding ways to board her in the past. Our own veterinarian was unable to board her due to her anxiety and aggression issues. It is very clear that the owner and staff at Doggy Be Good are passionate about their work and have handled our little monster with ease. The outdoor/indoor kennel spaces are clean and much more spacious than other kennels we have tried. Buttercup has even managed to make some new friends (special shout out to Clever!). Mike is an amazing trainer, groomer and boarder. Mike helped me to train my first dog. He worked with her through some really rough behaviors. He has also offered advice and help with foster dogs who I have taken into my home. My dogs have always comes home from boarding and grooming happy and smelling great. WOW!!!!! This place is great! Anna (the owner) made us feel like we where friends for years. She welcomed us with open arms. We are first time owners of a 1 year old Teddy Bear bread dog. She gave us great tips and educated us on a few others things. We called her for a pricing on grooming, great price for the services. We left it up to her on the grooming since it's so cold outside. Needed To board my King Charles Cavalier for a business trip I was taking. My Dog, Dexter is family and I didnt want to leave him with anyone. I've heard horror stories about boarders and how they neglect the dogs. On the recommendation of my sister who has had her dog trained at DBG i checked it out. I was away for 5 days and came back to find my boy, Dexter, happy and healthy and clean. I couldnt be more pleased with how well they took care of my Dexter! Highly recommend Doggy Be Good... This was an extremely HORRIBLE EXPIERENCE for me. If I had truly thought about it I would have realize that 13 reviews for a company that's been around over 20 years as I was told by the owners employee, should have been a red flag. It is my fault for not doing my due diligence. However, I did use there services so I know I had to pay. As I came to the back entrance I was greeted and I was asked to give my carry bags and in the same breath told that my cats slept in the litter box. I was walking behind the female employee and was then told to wait outside because they may get nervous when they see me and try to run. Clearly this did not make sense, but I waited. My issue was my cats smelled like urine. It was HORRIBLE!! I explained that according to what you told me they were sleeping in the litter box however if you knew this you should have washed them before I came to pick them up. I then asked since you have a grooming service could you wash them because I can't possibly take 3 cats in my house that smell like urine. I was told that they would not wash them. I did not agree with their decision but perhaps they felt as though they make money off of their grooming services so they did not want to give me a free service. So, I then asked if I could wash them in one of their enclosed kennels with soap and water, I was told no. My 3rd suggestion was if you're not going to wash them and you're not going to allow me to wash them then can you deduct the cost of washing them somewhere else. The owner told me no to that as well. He was extremely unwilling to work with me and I was getting quite annoyed. My cats were in their establishment for six days. This behavior that was told to me, sleeping in the litter box was strange. I adopted all 3 cats from North Shore animal league within the last four years and I have never experienced this before. There were only 2 litter boxes for the 3 cats so were they fighting to sleep in the litter box??? They were in a new environment so anything is possible. I was not comfortable paying $666 taking home my cats smelling urine. Thus, I called the 109th prescient and Officers K. Regler shield #27040 and Podkalicka shield #10918 came out. By this time I was furious however I still carried myself with respect and spoke politely. One of the officers told me I had to pay him or get arrested, I was livid. This is when officers feel that your ignorant to the Law. I know I can be arrested for theft of services meaning I take my cats and leave without paying. So I said suppose I dont have the money and I leave my cats would I still get arrested? hmmm. After all was said and done the 2 officers and the owner was speaking outside in which the owner came in and offered to take $40 off the bill. I just had to pay and leave I was so DISGUSTED. I paid the $666 then I asked the officers what is the difference between slander and my opinion and they said they did not know!!! All in all it's best to do your research 1st as I was ignorant and did not do. This was a costly learning experience, don't repeat my mistake. I truly hope that I will not be harassed by anyone affiliated with the business, the owners or NYPD after posting my review. read more

I boarded my dogs here for 10 days on a trip back home to California. I have a German Shepherd and a Golden Retriever, so fairly large dogs that need a lot of daily exercise. Like most dog owners, I am wary of leaving my dogs to strangers. However, upon speaking with the employees there, I could tell that they were dog lovers. I felt confident leaving my dogs there. My confidence was well-placed, as I spoke to them three times over my trip, and I could tell that they were interacting with my dogs. They told me quirks about each dog's behavior that you could only learn after spending some time with them. You wouldn't be able to tell me my German Shepherd's personality, for example, if you just dumped food in her bowl every day. The facilities are clean and well-kept. I was concerned that my dogs would be out in the cold (NY temperatures dropped to single digits while I was away and it snowed), but each kennel also has its own indoor, heated section that the owners can close off so the dogs stay in the heated section. I stopped by at three different times of the day (once to check out the facilities, once to drop off my dogs, and once to pick up my dogs) and never noticed any filth or feces in the dog's cages. While dogs are good about keeping their kennels clean, they will go potty if necessary, so this told me that that all the dogs get exercise or the kennels are cleaned regularly. There is a small outdoor run to let the dogs get exercise. I wondered how much exercise a dog could really get inside the run, but watching my Golden Retriever run around here reassured me that it sufficed. My Golden Retriever is probably one of the most hyper dogs you would ever meet when he's allowed to run around. When I picked up my dogs, he quickly began running laps around the run before tiring himself out. When I brought my dogs home, I didn't notice any issues related to stress (i.e. self-biting, hotspots, changes in behavior), or pented energy (hyperactive/destructive behavior in the home), or health issues in general (illness). On the contrary my dogs seemed perfectly fine and their behavior had not changed at all over my trip. I would definitely board my dogs here again. read more

I absolutely love Doggie Be Good's grooming service for my pug, Moose. From the moment you walk in, everyone is super sweet and you get such a good feeling. It feels like home. Anna, the groomer, is so good with my pug and takes such amazing care of him. You can see she really loves dogs. She is super accommodating when I call for an appointment. Moose came to me partially blind and Anna accommodates his every special need. I feel so good when I drop him off for grooming. I know my baby is in good hands there with Anna and the staff. You can't find anyone better than this staff. Also, Anna has the coolest looking grooming room around. I'm so excited to hear that they plan opening their own dog boutique on premises so that I don't have to go elsewhere for dog food, harnesses or leashes etc. I look forward to using their kennel services too since Moose and I love all the staff there. I have recommended them to many of my friends. They're all so kind, caring and attentive to any special requests you may have. I wouldn't go anywhere else for grooming for my Moose. I will never ever consider leaving my pup with anyone else but Mike and Anna. I have a 1 year old english bulldog and he loves it there. I was recommended to them by my vet when i had a last minute issue at home and needed to board for a few days and i couldn't be happier!! My Brutus comes home exhausted everytime so i know hes getting the excersise he needs and when i leave him i know hes in good hands and since im a nervous mommy about leaving my baby boy with anyone at least I feel that hes in safe hands. The staff is excellent and go out of their way to try to accommodate not only you but your pet as well. This was one of the worst experiences I've had with a groomer , went to them thinking them having a higher price then other local places would ensure a higher standard of care but I was very wrong . Picked up my dog after a grooming session this past weekend and my dogs hair was uneven after the cut and my dog had hair coming off him as if he had not been bathed after his cut. He was throughly brushed before to ensure they're were no matting problems for them . Very obvious there was no after care spray used as he didn't even smell clean. Eyes and feet were still crusty after pickup, makes me question if he was actually bathed, terrible service. He is an incredibly small dog and with all the services listed on the website that I paid for I saw no evidence that he was properly taken care of .This place underceded my expectations on all levels. I've boarded my beagle Max here several times. I know he's well taken care of because once when I picked him up a few staff members returned from running an errand and he trotted up to the side of the truck to say hello to them. They have a relationship with my vet's office, so I know in a veterinary emergency Max will be in good hands. It can get a bit expensive and to even get small discounts you have to board for quite a long stretch, but the main thing is I trust them, my dog is happy there (he likes Mike and that's good enough for me), and I know there's someone to take care of him in a pinch if I ever need it. read more

Mike is fantastic. Signed up my puppy with him for puppy kindergarten and in three weeks her entire behavior has changed. No more accidents in the house, no more chewing on anything, learned to fetch and bring the ball back and put it in your hand. I can trust her to roam around the house and not worry about her destroying anything. Cannot say enough good things about mike. He really knows dogs and how to get a specific behavior out of them. I don't usually write reviews, but I check Yelp whenever I want to go somewhere new, or recommend someplace to a friend, which is what I was about to do. When I saw one excellent review and one "not so excellent" review, I had to put in my 2 cents. I have a big mean mutt, and whenever we go on vacation, we bring her here. We get in the car, and when I tell her that we are going to "the hotel", she starts wagging her tail like crazy. She is very protective of me, but as soon as we get to the gate, she is looking for someone to take her leash and bring her to her "room". She is obviously happy here, as am I. I found Doggy Be Good by accident! Needed a kennel for my JRT, Patch, who is not the easiest dog to deal with. He's very nervous and untrusting of people, men in general. We left him with Mike, Anna and Anthony for the first time December 2013 and I was beyond a wreck, Patch is our baby. He was with them for 12 days, we exchanged a few emails all of which were reassuring. My husband picked him up upon our return and imagine his surprise when Patch was CARRIED in by Anthony and then ran passed him and up onto the desk to play with Anna. That was enough for us. He's always in great hands with them. We're already planning to leave him in again in January which will mark his 4th stay with them and each time is better again. Mike and Anna are amazing. We needed to hire Mike as a behaviorist for out mini bull terrier who had severe aggression, dominance and possessiveness issues at a very young age. At the time, my wife was also 6 months pregnant and despite making progress with the dog, we knew we would have to give him up in fear that he would someday harm our baby. Monty, our dog, did bite us a few times, which is why we made the decision we made, but Mike was hired before we made that decision to work on his issues and maintain our safety until he was adopted. Mike became part of every process from training in the home, locating people and programs to adopt or rescue the dog, giving us advice on documentation, breeding, in home-training homework, products to use in training and discipline, etc. The list goes on. Mike was so hands-on with every step of the way and our little boy was adopted yesterday by someone we know he will be in good hands with. We were definitely able to curb some of Monty's aggression, dominance and possessiveness while we were working him, as well as incorporate discipline that wasn't working before, and learn more about the puppy, how to prevent his issues and deal with them once they arrived. I don't consider Mike a person I've done business with at this point, I consider him a friend. He is so dedicated to his clients, the dogs, and everyone's well-being. I have bee coming to Doggie be Good for 6 years, first with my cocker spaniel Murphy, now with my 2 yr old Old English Sheepdog, Jessy and my 7 yr. old cocker, Ozzie. I have used the facility for boarding, grooming and training. I am a nurse and would not entrust my boys to anyone else. My sheepdog would lunge at people, dogs on our daily walks. This behavior was unprovoked... Michael came to my house to work with Jessy and me. After using different training tools, we have found Jessy does best with the head halter and is doing remarkably better. We also realized jessy has learned undesirable behavior from his older cocker spaniel brother, so at this time they are walked separately. The results are the best!!!!!!!!!! Love you Michael. We take Jessy to Anna for grooming. He is so relaxed, he falls asleep in her arms during the grooming process.... I can't say anything else but wonderful wonderful things about Doggie Be Good. As a former business owner myself, I'm not one to post petty negative reviews ever unless it's absolutely justified. I boarded my beautiful Shih Tzu at Doggy Be Good for 2 weeks. I dropped off my dog in pristine condition, freshly bathed and matt free. I picked up my dog and not only was he severely matted all over both his ears and his tail BUT his beautiful long eyelashes have been cut down to short stubs without my consent! The owner of course denied it and claims maybe I did not remember how his eyelashes were cut since he was last groomed. Are you kidding me?!! I asked my vet for his opinion while he was examining my dog and he confirmed that they had in fact been cut. My groomer has also confirmed that they were clearly cut!!! So PLEASE STOP telling me that I don't remember if my dog's eyelashes were previously cut or not before dropping him off. That is ABSURD and just proves how incompetent you are. Worst of all he wasn't eating since he returned home and was vomiting profusely and he's now in the hospital on an IV!!! He more than likely contracted a VIRUS FROM THIS PLACE. Do NOT EVER use this place & SHARE this with other dog owners. I have filed a report with the Better Business Bureau as well. This place is a nightmare. Also PLEASE STOP contacting my vet and trying to find out my dog's medical records!!!! You have now contacted my vet on 2 separate occasions. My vet will NOT release any information to you. While I never boarded or got my dog groomed at Doggy Be Good, we did hire Mike as a trainer for our Cane Corso. Unfortunately, we didn't do our research when we got our puppy Corso and quickly realized she had an aggression problem (with food, strangers, and even the family!) On the first visit, Mike put our 12 week old puppy in check (yes - she was THAT bad at such a young age). We attended puppy training and basic obedience training and it was a life saver!! While our dog and Mike fought early on, by the end of the basic obedience training, she was walking calmly on leash, no longer has a food aggression (you could hug her, put your hand in her bowl, etc with NO reaction), and was even giving Mike KISSES! It was an absolutely remarkable change in her and we can't thank Mike enough! Our dog is now a very well behaved, calm, happy dog that we adore. She is an angel now but I'm positive I wouldn't have that reaction if Mike did not stop this aggression early on. My dog has boarded there twice since I found out about this place a couple months ago and it's absolutely perfect. I was skeptical at first and took a tour and felt very confident right away. I used to drive about 90 minutes out into Long Island to get a kennel with separate indoor/outdoor runs as all the places in the city are a) super expensive b) either cageless - which stresses my dog out or they use tiny cages, which also stresses her out and c) not staffed 24/7. This is none of those, someone is always on site, excellent security, super clean facilities and great space for each dog. I feel like Michael & Anna really care about the dogs there and I can tell my pup loves them. I got her groomed there when she stayed and Anna did a wonderful job, just what I asked for (normally a mobile grooming, which I'm not sure how it works, but that's a pretty great service in itself). What I think is telling though is that my dog never comes out smelling like a kennel when I pick her up. They keep it so clean and really cater to the dogs & their owners. Can't recommend highly enough, seriously. I wish I had known about them years ago, but glad I found them now. read more
