I work in the area and was looking for a groomer for my blind Brussels and after passing by and asking a million questions finally decided to give this place a try. Being that my dog is blind and very anxious I was concerned, but everyone here was very nice. They did a great job on the cut and really made me feel good with the handling of her. They were understanding of my crazy dog mom worries and did not seem worried about grooming a blind dog who needs a little extra care. On to the groom, again these ladies were great, they cut her exactly as I wanted and even asked me if certain areas were okay when they were done. I really appreciated their care of my pet and the attention to detail on how I wanted her cut. I will be bringing her back :)

I've taken my peekapoo pup (4 years old) here several times now for grooming. They do a great job and happily take all my requests for how I want her cut. Service is also great and accommodating. One time I was running late dropping her off and I called to let them know, they were totally fine with it. This time my bf was going to be late picking her up and again, super nice about it. Also they are AWESOME with dressing her up in cute little bows and bandanas. The Christmas puff balls were my favorite I recommend!

Please, please, please, I'm begging you, especially if you have a long-haired dog, do NOT take your dog to Dog Planet. Note: This review pertains to Dog Planet's grooming services. When I brought Stanley in for his appointment I gave very clear directions to the woman who greeted me on what services I would like done. I asked for a full body trim with scissors ONLY and made it very clear that I did not want him shaved--I even provided a picture of what he looked like after a past groom. When I returned to pick him up, I was absolutely horrified to find that they shaved his entire body almost down to the skin, except for his legs and head. Stanley was NOT matted and has never been matted; we brush and pick his coat almost every day-- his coat prior to this shave was silky and soft and beautiful. Stanley is a long-haired dachshund mix. Like all long-haired dog breeds, he should NEVER be shaved because he uses his coat to regulate temperature and protect his skin from the sun. Shaving a long coat can cause a dog's coat to NEVER grow back the same length or texture, meaning my dog's coat could be permanently ruined. A professional dog groomer should ABSOLUTELY know this. The owner of this business gave a full refund for the services I received, but in the end it does not fix what was done to my dog's coat. To make matters worse, when I inspected his coat and skin closer, I noticed that the shave was terribly uneven--choppy, streaky, just awful to look at. I also noticed clipper burn in multiple locations on his belly and on the underside of his legs. I know that there is always some wiggle room when it comes to how a haircut might come out, but completely ignoring my request for scissors only and shaving off all of his natural hair--and potentially ruining his coat forever? And then nicking his skin with a tool that I specifically asked them not to use? Nope. A reputable dog groomer would never do this and I'm just absolutely disgusted. This happened two weeks ago and I'm still beside myself. Please spare yourself and your pup and choose a different groomer.

Love love love the team for daycare, dog boarding and dog wash services. BUT be careful with who the groomer is and how they communicate with you on the grooming service. They used to charge no cost when your dog was waiting for their turn for grooming and they used to communicate clearly when the next available appointment is so you can make a judgment as to when to bring the dog. Now that they have raised their price of daycare and perhaps trying to make more money, they don't tell you clearly when the next appointment is. When you call for grooming, they would appear to be very accommodating and tell you to bring your pups there right away and that they will "squeeze you in" between appointments. Last thing you know is that your pup will end up staying there for more than 4 hours and they will charge you $40 in addition to the grooming cost or however long by hourly rate. While it's fair to charge people for daycare, they are misleading in that that they did not tell you how long the queue is or when the next available appointment is, and then charge you for all the hours that your dog end up staying here waiting for their turn. So while the grooming cost is not that much different than other operations in the neighborhood, chances are you end up paying much more because they trick you to pay for daycare. The quality of grooming is also not consistent so you need to be careful with who the groomer is for the day. You can tell clearly that when they are in a rush, they just shave the dogs without much thoughts while occasionally when they have more time, they use scissors and your pup ends up looking much better. It could have been solved though by a clear communication as to what the clients ask for and then give accurate estimate about timing, but they fail to do that so you have to be very proactive when "making an appointment" in order not to be tricked.

They cut her arm open which later got infected

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS HERE!!! If you care for the safety and wellness of your pet I suggest you avoid this place. I called to make an appt for my dog and was told to come in within the hour, I was told they can "squeeze her in" I dropped off my dog and was told she will be ready in 2 hours. 2 hours later I called to say I was on my way to pick her up and I was told she hasn't been seen yet, that they had to do the other dogs that have been waiting first. So they basically had me rush there to drop off my dog only to have her sitting in the cage for over 2 hours when she could have just told me what time to bring her so she can be seen. Another 2 hours past and it was almost time for closing. I come back and noticed the cut on her arm, the groomer tried to hide it with a piece of hair and some glue, when I noticed it only then she tells me that she "accidentally" cut her. Obviously from doing a rush job! My dog was shaking and crying constantly. When I took her to my vet I was told they would run some test and try to heal the wound because the cut was infected. I paid an extremely high bill for this and that same week I had to take her to an emergency room because my dog wouldn't stop crying and shaking..she has been traumatized and scarred for life! My dog is a show dog and now she looks damaged and scared. I give her several medications and put ointment on it. I contacted the owner and she refused to take full responsibility for the expenses and damages this has caused to not only my mental health but the damage this has caused to my dog. I am reporting them to the better business bureau and I am filing a complaint with the courts. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! This establishment is negligent and dangerous. Do not bring your pet here.

Stella ,very happy after her haircut .

Dog Planet welcomed our Australian Shepherd (on very short notice on a Sunday) after a hiking trip left him covered in ticks. They were accommodating, informative and took great care of our dog. We brought him home soft, smelling good and most importantly happy & tick-free. They even gave him a cute bandana! Thanks Dog Planet, we'll be back!

He attends daycare regularly, and we also board him there when we travel because we trust them completely. They truly care about every dog in their care. The staff is consistently kind, generous, and incredibly helpful, and they have always been flexible when we have needed it. We also bring him in nearly every month for baths and deshedding, and they always do a fantastic job. They are also extremely thoughtful when it comes to safety. They have a secure system with multiple doors to ensure no dog can slip out, and they clearly take this responsibility very seriously. They are strict about requiring up to date vaccinations, which gives me great peace of mind. I also appreciate that they do not accept every dog automatically. They conduct a trial to make sure each dog's behavior is a good and safe fit for their environment. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a place they can truly trust with their dog.

They were texting me positive updates and him having fun but never mentioned the cut - I only saw it once he got home and they called me afterwards once I confronted them about it. They said that they put ointment on it and forgot to call me about it. He had to wear a cone for three weeks for it to heal. Then I used them again for two nights of boarding and I added a bath at the end for when I pick him up and they just completely forgot to give him a bath. Overall they are just not a service I can continue to trust or go back to.

Absolutely the worst dog groomer I've ever used in NYC…read more My dog has been professionally groomed once a month for the past 8 years, and any competent groomer knows what a Lhasa Apso haircut should look like. I sent multiple reference photos and clearly said do not shave him. Lhasa Apsos have a double coat, and shaving it can permanently damage the texture. Guess what they did? They shaved my dog. Then they actually tried to argue that he looked like the photos I sent. In what universe? My dog has always had a round face, and they shaved his face down. The owner did call to apologize, but even then she wouldn't admit the haircut looked nothing like the reference photos. Now I'm stuck hoping his coat grows back properly. Shaving a Lhasa Apso changes the coat texture, which leads to matting as it grows back, not to mention it makes him vulnerable to overheating, sun damage, and skin irritation. Any experienced groomer knows this. Beyond that, the place smells terrible. There's no one at the front desk, and you don't get to see where they take your dog or how clean (or dirty) the grooming area actually is. I completely regret bringing my dog here. I only tried this place because we just moved to the neighborhood and our usual groomer is farther away. Lesson learned -- the Uber ride to the Upper East Side is worth it, because this never would have happened at Canine Styles. I will not be coming back.

The service we agreed upon was for Darrel to walk our dog and then put out his food and fresh water for him before leaving. There were frequent problems-- small at first-- with following the instructions. Darrel would forget to refill the water dish or would not close the refrigerator after feeding the dog (the dog food is in there). Each time we communicated the problem to Carole, she would tell us she'd remind Darrel but the problems continued. Once or twice, Darrel left our apartment door unlocked after walking the dog and bringing him home (luckily nothing bad happened). The final straw was that Darrel forgot to feed the dog a couple of weeks ago. We reached out to Carole to address the issue, which to us represented an escalating pattern of inadequate care for our dog and disregard of our simple instructions. Her response was that she "didn't like the tone" of our email, said that feeding and not charging extra for it was "doing a favor"-- charging extra to feed the dog was never something that was mentioned to us AT ALL throughout the course of the year we were using their services-- and proceeded to say she would no longer work with us. No apology, no attempts to make things right-- just an unwillingness to take feedback and accept responsibility when something that jeopardized the well-being of our dog happened on their watch. We have moved on to another walking company and are much happier with their services and willingness to communicate. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of zero is because these mistakes didn't happen every time our dog was walked and there were some weeks throughout the year where everything went according to plan. Would very much recommend against using this small business since they don't take responsibility for their mistakes, don't respond effectively to requests to correct them, and simply terminate their working relationship when you point out flaws in their service.
