A few months ago, our dog, Alfie, became what we called, Facebook famous, after his door dashing habit resulted in his photo being plastered over all the Baltimore neighbor groups. After his last great escape, I realized that he needed some exercise to break up the monotony of his day. I emailed Andy and he was kind enough to come out that day and meet Alfie (and us, the humans in Alfie's life.) Andy started coming the next day to run with Alfie and wear him out until we get home. We went on vacation for Memorial Day, as promised, and once again asked Dan to stop by and take care of Miss Kitteh. As always, he did a fabulous job - she was fed, entertained, and treated like the Royal Highness that she is. I had written some detailed instructions this time because of certain changes that had occurred since their last visit, and everything went smoothly and exactly as planned. To top it off, Dan actually let me know that I had overpaid them and said that he would credit my account for a future vacation - now that, my friends, is honesty. Andy and Shaun are both fantastic! When I was looking for a dog walker for my goldendoodle, Kaylee, Andy emailed me back and came to meet me essentially the same day. Andy and his wife are very personable and clearly love dogs. He is very responsible to texts and emails and helps coordinate Kaylee's walks every week with my ever-changing schedule. They also accept online payment (thru PayPal) which is a huge plus for me. Shaun, who is our regular walker, has also been great. I get a very detailed text and picture with every walk. We had the initial consultation visit and we scheduled a couple visits for upcoming trips several weeks out. Then we had a family emergency come up where we had to leave town the same day, so we were scrambling to get the kitties taken care of while we had to be gone. I have been using Dog Day Afternoon to walk my 3 year old rescue dog for almost a year now. They are reliable and Andy goes out of his way to be flexible and has helped me out in a pinch on several occasions. Really awesome company. I looked into hiring a dog walking service when my dog struggled with adapting to our new home. I met with Andy's wife, Jess, for our initial consultation and she really put me at ease. My dog is a rescue with some weird behavioral quirks and she was unfazed by everything. You can tell Andy, Jess and the staff love animals and are very experienced. We have the same walker each time and I appreciate that consistency for my dog...I have noticed a big improvement in the separation anxiety since we began walks with DDA. I switched to them about year ago after a poor experience with my previous dog walker. They switched owners and management in 2013, but the same great service continues under their new owner, who was previously an employee. I work from home most often, so I have a very irregular schedule for our walks. They have never missed an appointment nor have they showed up when they were not supposed to. That shows their management process and assignments work really well. We get the same walker most days, but I have met about 4 different walkers and they all have been great. They only walk two dogs at a time, which to me means my dog gets extra attention but also gets to play with another pup. I have used their overnight service a few times too; it is more expensive than a kennel but it is great for one or two nights. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. read more

Dog Day Afternoon is the Best! We hired DDA before we brought home our little cavachon puppy Lucy (January 2010) to handle daily walks while we're at work. We chose them at first since we had seen other dog walkers with half a dozen dogs in the neighborhood, and we knew DDA never walked more than a couple of dogs at a time--and will walk your dog solo if need be. Plus, they were the best price among those we considered, and were bonded and insured. We have been thrilled with our choice ever since! Dan was Lucy's walker when he first took over the business, but eventually a member of his team handled her regular walks. One day the pup and I were browsing at Dogma and all of a sudden I heard an enthusiastic voice "Hi Lucy!". It was Dan (who I had never met in person), and she was so ecstatic to see him! He was greeted by tail wagging and a series of licks, and I was impressed that Dan recognized her and called her by name immediately (despite having so many clients). It really made my day! Brittany, Lucy's regular walker, leaves daily notes updating us on Lucy's "business", telling us which "friend" came along on their walk, and other activities of the day (including Lucy's smoochfest greetings, their Harbor East window shopping, and her interactions with all the "ladies who lunch" outside). Brittany always changes the water, puts out food if requested, and ends her visit with a treat. Dan is always responsive and able to accommodate us, even when we realize we need an additional walk at the last minute. And he even checks in on Lucy from time to time by walking her himself. I would highly recommend Dog Day Afternoon to anyone who lives in the areas they serve. We'll be moving to Mount Washington in the spring and my fingers are crossed that they'll expand to cover that neighborhood soon! read more

Not with Dog Day, they were flexible and easy to work with at all times. I had the same walker for the entire duration which was crucial for a finiky mini doxie. :) We are moving from Canton to Clipper Mill and unfortunately they do not have walkers in that area otherwise we would still be with Dog Day. Our most recent visit by Dog Day was Thanksgiving 2012 and we are finally getting around to writing this. Dan and his team are the best. We are always amazed at how happy and relaxed our cats Hugo & Watt seem when we return to town. After at least two years of having Dan visit, we always know extra care is taken in making sure the cats have everything they need, including extra head pats. The cats have a game of trapping each other in our basement when we aren't there, and one time we forgot to prep for this before we left. Dan noticed this was a potential problem and propped up a stack of cookbooks to help keep the door open, and let us know about it when we returned. He takes care of our pets as if they were his own. I've been using DDA since I got my puppy 6 months ago. Andy and his team (shout out to Rob and Michael) have gone above and beyond for us. I have a very irregular schedule for work and they will bend over backwards to make Kobe's walks, even at the shortest of notices. They always leave a note that tells me what they did with Kobe that day, and how he was, what he ate, etc. Kobe always seems happy when I get home, so they must be doing something right! Andy, the owner, is very easily available for scheduling questions and quick to respond. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Andy and his team to anyone - even to the pickiest of first-time puppy moms (like myself)! I know all the reviews already are great, but I just wanted to add mine because DDA is THAT good! I honestly believe that Dog Day Afternoon is the best dog walking company in Baltimore. My neighbors have noticed my dog, Tommy, being walked in the park by the dog walker, so they are 100% legit. I know people who have hired other companies and discovered their dog was not actually getting walked. That will not be the case with DDA. Additionally, they are able to walk my dog solo and, as I requested, they are cautious about introducing him to other dogs on their walks. The praise does not end there - they leave the most adorable notes about their walk detailing who they met, where they went, and if your dog went to the bathroom. They give fresh water and food if requested. AND!! My dog got into the trash one day and they cleaned it up and put it in a secure location so he couldn't get in again! I LOVE DDA! read more

Our schedule is challenging and they always were able to come through for us when we needed a last minute walk or extra walk if we weren't going to make it home for dinner. Beakers, our 80 lb reactive shepherd mix, was in excellent care with his walker, Rob. It was clear Beaks loved this guy when we ran into him in the park once, when he was walking another pup. He was our walker for well over a year and we loved the report cards he left on Beakers and he always let us know if Beakers did anything we should be aware of.
