Such a great find! We stopped here on a whim for dinner and did t know what to expect. I had hea rd great things about it and was happy to finally talk my wife into trying it. The atmosphere is so unassuming and the service was great. It's a place you can feel comfortable in no matter how you're dressed. We ordered steaks, fries, green beans and some mac & cheese. The steaks were over the top delicious. They were cooked perfectly, seasoned to perfection and absolutely huge. These steaks could rival ones you would get at any of the fancy steakhouses. The fries were just simply good - salty and crunchy. The mac & cheese was nice and creamy. And the green beans were just great "country style" like the kind that your grandma would've made. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like you're about to enjoy a hearty, comforting meal--and in many ways, it delivers. The steak was packed with flavor, clearly well-seasoned and cooked with care. That said, I ordered it medium rare, and it came out more on the medium well side, which was disappointing for a steakhouse. On the flip side, the sautéed mushrooms were a standout--perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. Service was top-notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and really added to the experience. Unfortunately, the atmosphere took a bit of a hit due to the sticky floors, which felt a little gross and took away from the otherwise rustic charm. They don't offer a cocktail menu, but they're willing to improvise. I asked for a lemon drop, and while what I got was strong and drinkable, it definitely wasn't a lemon drop. Still, points for trying! We had a family style steak meal. Some of the group liked the tamales - just make sure you don't eat the paper. The porterhouse was much better than the ribeye which was pretty tough even though we asked for medium. The fries were really good and I thoroughly enjoyed the bread. The potatoes and green beans were kind of bland. The server was super nice, but didn't ask all of us if we wanted drinks so only the guys got alcohol. Stopped in for dinner after doing business in Fayetteville all day. I had an out-of-stater with me, so I needed him to get a good taste of Arkansas. I've only been to Doe's in Little Rock, so that's what I can compare it, too. Much "cleaner" than Little Rock, and the food was just as good. We split the smallest sirloin and it arrived cooked perfectly, and of course tamales. I think in Little Rock, you get salads and fries with your steak. It seems as in Fayetteville, that's not included. But the steak is the star, so I guess no harm, no foul. The ice tea was awful, but I expected that. I'm a bit of a tea snob and no restaurant seems to make a good one. I keep trying, though. Service was very good, although there weren't many customers, so can't speak to how it normally is, but my guest was pleased. read more

Walked into a dingy, old dining room. Right off, the waitress started telling us the large number of steaks that they were out of. Then, she tells us they haven't had menus since Covid, and hands us an IPad. We ordered garlic butter shrimp for the appetizer, and they were very good. He asks for Beef Couletta (sp?), and the waitress asked what that was. He pointed to it on the menu, and she went to check. She came back and said they don't make that. I ordered a Petit Filet and he ordered a TBone. We got our salads, lettuce and a slice of tomato. He didn't eat his, because the house dressing was so bad. My Filet was pretty good, but his TBone was a good three inches thick. He doesn't like thick steaks. Also, we both ordered medium, and both steaks were overcooked. In a addition, you have a choice of fries or boiled potatoes. Boiled potatoes were bland, even putting butter, salt and pepper. Also the dropped biscuits sounded so good, but were extremely greasy. Not a $90 meal at all. I have always heard that Doe's is the place to go for steaks. I very seldom write negative reviews. But Doe's did not live up to my expectations at all. read more

They also have no clue what rare means. My steak was medium at best. The outside looks like an abandoned building. Doe's has been our old favorite for a casual drink and a great steak. Embarrassed to say that we have not visited in quite some time but we started off 2022 with dinner at Doe's this week. Everything was just as we expected with a few new surprises. I didn't catch our waitresses name, but she had spicy auburn hair and she was great. My husband had the shrimp two ways and I had a filet and hand cut fries - all delicious. My steak was tender and had the perfect char. I loved the fry bread and took them home to make beignets. If you are looking for a great filet, this is not the place. I heard great things and was excited to go. The fried biscuits came and they were not fresh and tasted like oil. Then the salad, a soggy mess that I'm not even sure what the dressing was besides water and salt. The King Filet has to be good right? WOW! Meat so tough it must have been cut from a cow suffering for days in the fields. I have never seen a steak so Burnt on the outside and completely raw in the middle. In some ways to think a chef has the ability to serve something so terrible is a talent. The two of us took two bites each and decided that it wasn't worth eating or taking it togo. When asked how the steak was? I expressed it was terrible. Their solution was to cook the burnt steak more. TALENT I TELL YA! We left our $58 dollar meal and Tipped $10 even though it took forever to get our meal on a rainy day in an empty restaurant. Husband made a date-night reservation for me to try this place, he had been a few time for work functions and thought it was good. They don't open until 5pm on, we were there at 4:45 and wait to get in. My first impression was it's nothing like I imagined a very expensive steak place to be, it looked more like a cheap BBQ place with it's outdated sports memorabilia and plastic covered tables. The waitress took our drink order but didn't come to take our food order until I flagged her down and asked if we could order, we had been there approximately 15 minutes by this time, by the way they don't have menus, you have to scan a QR code that's taped to the wall or they are happy to pass around the same tablet to each table if they would rather....so why not have menus since everyone has their hands on this tablet??? If you are paying attention to time, we got to our table by 5:02 ordered drinks pretty quickly finally ordered food at approximately 5:17 (smallest sirloin they have and a mid-sized ribeye with a side of broiled shrimp) we knew that cook times would take a little bit because of the size of their stakes (1.5 lb and 2.5 lb). At 6:27 the waitress brought out stakes....that is over an hour and 15 minutes!!! We immediately knew that the order wasn't correct, I was given what I ordered but with the wrong side and my husband received a T-bone with the wrong side and an extra appetizer that we didn't order (mushrooms). We let her know that she must have brought out the wrong order so she took them to the back. She returned EIGHTEEN minutes later asking if we would just like to eat the wrong meals and she would remove the cost of one of the steaks as an apology. I told her I was concerned about that option because those steaks have now been just sitting around for almost 20 minutes and they would not be real great, she said "they've been under a heat lamp". I asked why our steaks weren't just made in the almost 20 minutes more we've been waiting to which I only got an "I'm sorry." My husband said he wanted to eat since we had been waiting almost 2 hours since we got there for our reservation so we took the wrong meals. My steak was cold, his side (fries) was cold and not fresh. I had to ask for our ticket, she brought it back saying I took your steak off so it's cheaper, I saw that the ticket had everything on it....BOTH steaks with sides, the shrimp, two drinks and it was $106 and some change. I asked her to explain the ticket due to her saying she took a steak off, she said we put the steaks you ordered on there instead of what you ate, you can talk to the manager when you pay if you like. As we stood at the cash register a man came up and said "what can I do for you?" My husband said "I need to pay but wanted to see what was going on with the ticket." They guy said "yeah you owe $106.?? there's a sign as you come in that says we are low staffed." I stepped up and said "you open at 5, we were here at 5 there's no reason for an almost two hour wait to get food, even if you are short staffed." He became very defensive saying again that they are short staffed and that he's been doing this for 22 years and that's just how it is. I said "my review will reflect that you know it all, have a great night!" and walked out. BAD experience, BAD customer service, BAD management, Bad business practices. There are FAR better places to go, I do not recommend. Who knows maybe I would have recommended if I had gotten what I ordered and it be freshly cooked, we will never know. Side note: This weekend is Bikes Blues and BBQ festival, there were a few people waiting to get in but not all tables were occupied for a good thirty minutes after we got there (there are not many tables). I overheard several tables had major issues with their orders, items cooked wrong, long wait times, etc. Might I suggest if you are "so understaffed" (I counted 4 servers in the room) that you only take reservations, limit the amount of tables you fill at any given time, management get out there and work, I never once saw him out there trying to make the business run smoothly.....good luck! read more

Doe's is always one of my favorite steak places. I have been to other Doe's locations, but this was my first time to this one. The service was great and the food did not disappoint. We split a 1.5 lb. ribeye, which was plenty enough to feed two people. As always, it was cooked to a perfect mid rare. For dessert we split a cherry pie. I'm a diehard steak guy and from the pictures I saw I just had to try this place out. I was not disappointed at all. Hands down the best steak I've ever had in my life. My wife and I visited Doe's during the height of the CV19 pandemic and had a less than good experience, which was understandable, so we wanted to try it again to see how they rebounded. Sorry to say I think they haven't recovered. We're beer drinkers so we wanted to gain access to a broad beer menu. Doe's claims on their website "over 160 beers from all over the globe!", that isn't even close to being true. Their beer menu may have had about 20 beers on it and between my wife and I they "ran out" of six of the selections we asked for. Please respect your customers to tell the truth. We ordered the tamales, which were acceptable but nothing particularly special. We were going to order entrees and noted that the entrees came with salad and biscuits. When our server took our order, she didn't ask what salad dressing we wanted and my wife and I naturally suspected she forgot....no big deal...it happens. Generally our server was inattentive and slow, and given we were ordering entrees after the tamales, we decided not to mention her not asking about the salads. Our entrees came, I had the chicken tenders and my wife had the shrimp. Both were excellent. Highly recommended. I had asked for bbq sauce for my chicken tenders the server had said "we don't have any, but I'll check". She came back to the table and offered me Arby's BBQ Sauce packets, which was entertaining. Doe's has no side sauce for the tenders, the server pointed to the ketchup on the table and said "you can use that". I cannot say the chicken tenders were dry, they were very good, but to expect customers to eat chicken tenders without anything is....stretching it. As I mentioned, my wife's shrimp was excellent. After our meal, because of the slow service and poor experiences I decided to bring up the salad and biscuits and ask for them to go. While asking the server what salad dressing options they had, the server cut me off and said that it was my responsibility to tell her if I wanted salad! Mind you, I didn't care I didn't get it. But don't blame me! She responded with "we only have the chefs dressing, everybody orders that". Which, I guess, if you only have one dressing, yes then everyone would order that. We told her we would take our salads to go. Since she told me it was my responsibility to tell her if I wanted a salad, which I pay for, I decided to tell her we didn't get the biscuits either and we'd have them to go too. I asked her if the biscuits are only available upon request and she walked away....never saw her again. Another server brought our to go food. I understand help is often difficult to find, however in my experience there are plenty of places that have recovered from the CV19 doldrums. Doe's isn't a fast food place, they expect their customers to pay higher prices for their food. Steaks, for which they specialize in, are easily upwards of $50...which is fine. And their food was good. But to have a very limited beer menu despite them advertising otherwise, lack of wait staff training, limited menu ( no burger for instance), oddities in plating (no chicken tender sauce options) makes one wonder why anyone would choose to spend their hard earned money to get a steak there when there's so many other places that simply execute so much better. read more

While traveling on business, my colleague and I stopped by here for dinner. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and it's pretty quirky on the inside. The walls are covered with random toys, signs, etc. We got tamales to start, pretty bland without the chili, pretty good with it. We split a 2 lb. Porterhouse, which came with potatoes and a salad. Red potatoes and fries were good, nothing special. The salad was slimy and weird. Kind of like someone chopped up iceberg lettuce and put slime sauce on it. The steak was impressive and excellent. In Bentonville working a job and this establishment was highly recommended. A group of 4 ended up with nearly 10 pounds of excellent ribeye on the table. The hand cut fries were on point, the fried biscuits were new to us Kansans but now I plan on trying to copy. The blackened broiled shrimp was probably the biggest surprise. Cooked to perfection, probably the best shrimp I have ever had inland. We had a lot of fun with the waitress, who did a excellent job. We frequently make the drive 2 hrs to eat here since our restaurant in Springfield closed. Last night was the first time I can say we had a truly terribly meal and well as service. Our sweet little waitress was awful and barely came to our table, she forgot one of our steaks and an order of mushrooms. When we notified her that we were still waiting on the rest of the food, the ultimately forgot and after almost 10min of watching her sit adding up bills, had to be reminded again (and she acted like it was the first time we had told her)... super frustrating!! One of our steaks was super tough you could barely saw through it with a steak knife which is unusual for Doe's, the cod the overcooked and horribly dry, cauliflower side was cold and in huge chunks (not like it normally is, which is delicious). One of our filets was amazing, the other we sent back to go from a rare to medium and it came back almost well done and tough. Overall, so disappointed! Sides and drinks were removed but still to pay $210 (for 6 people) for poor service and a disappointing food... so discouraging!!!!!! You want a steak in the NWA, this is the place to go! Was recommended Doe's by locals, for a local NW Arkansas steak and it did not disappoint . I had the best they had to offer - a 2lb Porterhouse med temp and it was huge! Everything you could imagine and some. A 21 day aged heavy cut, the flavors were just right! I cant believe I almost ate the whole thing and only stopped slightly short to save a piece to eat with sunnyside eggs for bkfst in the am. They have literally hundreds of beers to choose from and a full extensive bar. It is as local and amazing as local and amazing get!
