Very disappointing experience. Went to listen to our granddaughter sing karaoke. Most singers were ok but there was a young boy, maybe 12 yo at most who sang a rap song full of inappropriate words and many swear words. He was applauded and cheered on and with the audience we felt it was disgusting. There were families there. Language like that isn't appropriate at any age, but definitely not for a minor to be singing and being cheered on. We will not be returning to this place. Any business that supports that is off our list. And any patrons who support that really need to think about that! read more

Bad experience and had to leave the restaurant. The staff did not acknowledge my party of 7 one time. She only looked at us from across the room but never said Hello, despite walking past us multiple times. We had to search for our own menus after waiting 15 minutes. Terrible service. Food is always great love the ribs and lasagna , salad bars is very good, soup is good and tacos too.

We had family up to the lake. After a great day boating on Balsam; we were hungry and didn't feel like cooking. We ordered pizzas from Doc's. Even our niece ,whom has a picky palett, enjoyed our pizzas! The pizzas were full of flavor. Great topping ratio with a thin crust and perfect cheese. The staff gave us red peppers and Parmesan cheese to bring back with us. We will definitely be ordering or going to Doc's again. read more

Food is very good. Service is top shelf. Staff is friendly as can be. You feel like your at a friend's house when you eat here. Even if you get the buffet. Yes they have a taco bar buffet with usually taco meat, chili, and an amazing homemade soup. Last time was sausages potato soup. Before I knew they had the buffet we ate the burgers and other plates they offered. Everything was very good. Highly recommend this bar and restaurant with a welcome home ambience feel. read more

We order a pizza for take out. The only complaint would be the crust. It was too hard around the outside and the rest was thick and hard to chew as well. Good flavor but due to the crust being so bad, I don't think I'd order pizza again. read more

I have worked in the service industry for many years. If you are a server, and do a bare minimum I will tip 20%. Today I experienced maybe one of the worst bartenders I've ever seen (And trust me, I've seen a lot of bad ones). I don't know what you got going on in life girl but you rolled your eyes EVERY SINGLE TIME someone ordered something! Just horrible service. I still tipped 20% because you were so unhappy I was worried for you. Your tatted waitress was also unpleasant. It's a good job market girls. This place has great food but I will never go there on Saturday morning because the waitress/bartender is the worst I have ever had no personality hardly said a word we were the only one in the place but it still took 10 minutes before she waited on us after we got our food she never came back to ask us for refills or if we wanted anything else. read more

Our family stopped at Doc's as we always do when near Balsam Lake. Never a disappointment! A good variety of menu items to choose from. The Salad/Soup Bar was fresh and well stocked. Their Pizzas are AWESOME! Zesty sauce, not stingey on toppings! Hubby loves the ribs. Great bar with live bands and a DJ at times. (Advertised on signs) One highlight is the outside deck. Huge! Plenty of seating. Perfect on a summer night. Looking forward to coming back soon. I'm craving another Pizza!!! read more

I don't know where these other people were at but I went there with my grandson and his Mother and friend after my grandsons basketball game about a month ago. We were greeted and seated promptly and or waiter was friendly and courteous and especially kid -friendly too which a lot aren't now days. Our food was fast, delicious and very reasonably priced. I will never go back because of how the bartender treated me. I requested the owner call me and he never bothered. I do like their pizza, but I can get it at lumberjacks. Their burgers were pretty good too, but not good enough to be bullied by the waitstaff. If you are ever their and the bartender begins speaking super loud it is her warning signal that a druggie is in the bar. I think she even with held my food order, and called the police. I was pulled over a block from the restaurant. The cop asked me if I was on acid of all things. After a brief interaction, and checking my license he let me go without incident. I don't know what she saw in me that made her think I was on drugs, but she was way off base. I spent 100 bucks that day and had she not been so zealous in her judgement, and holding my food I would have been long gone. Instead I sat there for an hour waiting for my food feeling very uncomfortable. I think she really got off on it. I finally went up to the window to ask the cook about my order. The bartender came running from behind the bar to intercept me but she was too late. The cook said, "It's been sitting here." I was literally the only food customer, besides the three people sitting at the bar having a drink there wasn't any other customers. I think this is a pattern. I heard another bartender refer to somebody as a methhead. She told me that a lot of methheads go there. Your staff seems preoccupied labeling people, but they don't have training to do this or the time it takes. If I wanna be assessed for an addiction I will go to the Betty Ford Clinic, or my family would intervene, maybe even a close friend but it's inappropriate for your employees to do it. Horrible service. Memorial weekend and only two servers in the whole place. No one acknowledged us for 20 minutes and we were a group of 8 with kids. Eventually sat down at a dirty table, and waited for someone to serve us. No one came so we eventually left. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Will never go back. We ordered the prime rib and chicken and ribs special. When the food came, everything but the chicken was cold. The prime rib, the green beans, the ribs, the French fries, and the baked potato. The baked potato was also burned on the bottom. Since the waitress did not come back to check on us, we walked the food back into the restaurant to the kitchen. They stuck their finger in the food and agreed it was cold. They were fairly quick to bring out a new prime rib. This time it was warmish. We continued to wait for the ribs and a new baked potato. In the meantime some other patrons were asking about our prime rib. We told them not to bother and to stick to the burgers. When the waitress finally came back, she asked if there was anything else we needed. We informed her we were still waiting for the ribs and the baked potato. She was shocked and didn't have a clue what we were talking about. The ribs finally came, and they were hot this time. The potato was also hot, but again, burned on the bottom. I had barely started to eat the ribs when the manager came out, smoking a cigarette, and told us that we were rude to the waitress and she did not like us telling the other patrons about our food. We were told to pack up, pay, and leave immediately. At no point were we ever rude, did we raise our voice to the waitress, or say anything mean or negative to her. In fact, we told the manager they could talk to the other patrons sitting close to our table to verify that. Instead, she insisted we leave because she didn't like us criticizing the food. When paying $57 for the food, I would have expected some quality to come with that price tag. Instead of getting an apology for the cold and subpar food and the slow service, we were told to leave. I am in shock and disbelief. I can't believe they even expected us to pay for the food, let alone told us to leave immediately and pay. Food was decent. Was here on a Thursday for the all you can eat chicken & ribs buffet. Thankfully, it was a buffet. We were there for 2 hours and we never once had anyone ask if we needed anything. We got our own drinks at the bar and just helped ourselves to the buffet. We had to go to the bartender and have him ring up our meals. We never even saw a waitress working. Seriously understaffed. One of a couple small bars in Balsam Lake. We went at 4:30. 3 people at bar and 1 table of 1 person. We sat down and were greeted by the bat tender. She got our drinks and came back in a couple minutes to get our order. Never offered water. While waiting for our lizzas we ran out of drinks. Another bartender showed up for the evening shift. After 20 min pizza was delivered to table. No plates to eat on and asked for refills. Finally got the plates and refills. We ate our pizza.......then waited and waited and waited. Waitress/bartender never came back and checked on us or got us refills. After 20 min. I went to bar(15 ft away from table) to ask for refills and order pizza to go. Only 1 more table to serve and still they could not provide any service. Bartender was talking to the couple people at bar but no one ever checked on us again. "To go" pizza finally arrived after 30 min. Paid check and left. Food is "ok" but the horrible lack of service is reason for lowest rating. read more
