He is very involved with his guests and genuinely cares about their experience, always going above and beyond. The space is great, every parking space is a good seat, the drinks are refreshing, food is good (for snacks, I wouldn't make a dinner out of it if you're really hungry) the sound quality is good and the bathrooms were cleaner than mine at home (and that says A LOT!) No parking humps to face your car upwards towards the screen. This makes backseat passengers have to peak down to see. Also... the price is steep for a drive in. I've been to some that charge $8 a car or $5 per head for New releases. These guys charge about as much as you would pay for a new release but they play old movies and stuff that's been out for 6+ months. read more

A great find! Celebrated my quarantine birthday by seeing a movie here and it was such a sweet experience! We didn't have any food, but I've heard great things. The parking was set up to stagger so there weren't issues with being blocked by cars in the rows in front of us which was really helpful. Not a bad drive from central Austin, either. So thrilled to have discovered Doc's! Never been to the drive-in and believe me when I say that it was HIGH up on my bucket list. Took the wife and dog to a Friday night double-feature of The Sandlot and The Little Giants...ahh, 90s childhood nostalgia. Doc's is easy going and intuitive. Buy your car slot online ahead of time and the nice young ladies out front will direct you there. We showed up early and enjoyed the setting sun while enjoying a sampling of Doc's many refreshments. Next came the pre-show reel of vintage drive-in snack ads. Capped off with the movies themselves; projection was clear and sound, piped in through the radio, couldn't have been better. Such an inviting and friendly atmosphere. A true slice of the past, recreated. Can't wait to go back! read more

What a great addition to the area! We celebrated my daughter's 13th birthday here with a double feature of Beetlejuice and the 1950's classic House on Haunted Hill. We had over a dozen teen girls and a few parents, and everyone had a great time! The owners and staff were so friendly and accommodating, and we will definitely back. The rooftop bar is a nice touch, as are the creative food offerings. Prices are very reasonable and the film sound and image quality was excellent. Bathrooms surprisingly high-end and very clean. Highly recommend for a group, but also would be fun with the family or a date. I was really excited in my trip to Austin to have a drive-in dinner night with my son (13). It was easy to get tickets and they were reasonably priced. The menu was "good enough" for a real meal for both of us, though a bit pricey for what it was. There was some confusion and moving around of cars but the staff were really helpful and responsive about these issues. However, the food never arrived. I spent most of the movie hungry and anxious about having missed the buzzer for my food. As the film moved toward its inevitable, formulaic ending, we realized it was after nine and there was no food. They gave me no problem about returning my money, but it was not the experience advertised or that we signed up for. Disappointing evening for a venue that took an hour to drive to. Ended up with fast food at 10pm as our dinner for our special night out. Apparently, this was the situation for many of the night's guests. read more

This is BEYOND 5 stars worth of family fun and adult adventures wrapped into one Awesome evening you will not soon forget! My family recently enjoyed the 4th of July event of a lifetime! Live music, patriotic popsicles for the young'ns, horseshoes & other outdoor games and yummy foods and treats! My favorite part was the spectacular fireworks show!! Granted the place was sold out but the fact that the owners Sarah & Chris are soo down to Earth...it still managed to feel intimate and personal! From the Belgian waffles smothered with Nutella, whip and bananas to the HUGE cheeseburgers(my son still managed to demolish 2!! Crazy Teenagers!!) their food is So delish! There is a Wine, Sake etc bar upstairs with a deck to enjoy the night breeze while you catch the movie on a "regular" movie night(I know...because I have enjoyed a spirit or two up top!) I can't brag enough about this spot and the nostalgia it brings to my heart for when I was growing up!! I'm grateful to have such a swell entertainment spot so close to home! I went to Doc's before and loved it, but recently I watched Footloose with them and after showing up early to see the film, the film started in the middle of the movie, then cut to different segments/scenes until reaching the end, we see closing credits about 30 minutes into the film. Afterward, I don't know what just happened, then I see the beginning of the film starting to play and it also cuts off into different pieces of the film which are not in order, the movie eventually ends in the middle of the plot and I hear on the intercom a man saying "Thank you for coming to Doc's, drive safe." I don't understand what was wrong with their copy of Footloose and why there weren't measures to fix it before showing the film. This makes me hesitant on coming back to watching another film. read more

This is literally one of the worst customer experience I've ever had. The worst thing you can do to a parent customer is crush the holiday expectations of their children. You only get so many Easter's and Christmases where your kids are old enough to remember and young enough to still believe in holiday "magic." Thanks for shitting on one of those special events for my kids. Doc's tried to do something nice and offer a free Easter egg hunt for kids. (And by something nice, I mean lure a bunch of parents and kids into a field in the hot sun where they could charge movie theatre prices for concessions, like $4 for a soft drink or a $7 "special" for a quesadilla. And $8 for a family size popcorn. ) The ad said "free Easter hunt, 2000 eggs!" Surely we could show up and go home with a few eggs! They were so disorganized that it resulted in many hot tired, disappointed and angry children on a holiday weekend. We showed up on time, waited an hour in the hot sun and still didn't get any eggs. First they tried to just randomly throw eggs on the ground and stay ahead of the kids. This, predictably, resulted in kids following the "egg lady" around and picking up every egg she dropped. So that results in two fields with no eggs in them. So, management regrouped, and attempted to arrange "heats" by age (which, is exactly how pretty much every successful Easter egg hunt in history has been done.) They gatherer all the 0-5 year olds at the concession stand, said they'd call on the 6-8 year olds shortly after they were done. My kids were both 6-8, so we waited in the shade of the concession. Rather than announcing wave 2 and regrouping everyone by the stand, they just promptly threw more eggs down and let the older kids that had been hovering by the 0-5 year olds on the field. By the time we realized what was happening (by running the field), all eggs were gone again. This happened in less than 10 minutes total (after having been there waiting with no eggs for an hour.) I was told they'd be doing it again in an hour. By this point, I had already had to endure numerous tugs on my sleeve from my kids, who just wanted to go because it was taking so long. Doc's, I came thinking perhaps I'd give your theatre a shot some evening, but you've created such ill will, I can't imagine I'd ever want to show up there again. Get your collective heads out of your asses, put someone in change who has organized an event in their life, and try to develop some empathy. Thanks for teaching my kids early in life about charlatans and how to be cynical! read more

We went for the July 4 fireworks and movie at Docs this past Thursday. We thought that we would be able to order food without a long wait and start watching the movie at the advertised time of 8:50pm but that was not the case. There was a super long line for food and about a 40 minute wait to order anything. They didn't start the movie until 10:30pm- close to two hours after what they advertised and by then we were ready to go home. We were not told that the fireworks would start at 9:15pm and the movie at 10:30pm. The fireworks show was great but lack of communication resulted in us leaving at the start of the movie. read more

This is a great place to go and have fun with the family. In Texas, my only suggestion would be to bring a cigarette lighter fan or one of those portable ACs that you can fill with ice. It gets pretty hot. Otherwise, it's a lot of fun. I highly recommend it. read more

This is a great spot for date night, hanging out with friends, or having an all ages family gathering. It's a beautiful setting that seems like it's in the middle of nowhere (although it's only about 10 minutes away from I-35), and the movies are great - we saw Shaun of the Dead and the original Friday the 13th, and the other screen was showing Back to the Future and Twister. They've got a nice local beer selection (along with wine), and great food. Pro tip: get the s'mores, it comes with a sterno flame so you can toast your marshmallows and make your s'mores fresh just the way you like them. Brilliant! The folks who run and work at the place are all super friendly and helpful. It's just so chill, and comfortable, and fun, and away from the city just enough that you feel like you're going on an adventure, but one that's easy to get to and awesome to accomplish. Took a few of the family members with me to a drive-in movie theater to see The Goonies - one of our favorite movies from the '80s. The drive was nice from our location, and the venue itself was pretty neat. However, the food/concessions WERE HORRIBLE! Arrived an hour and 10 minutes BEFORE the movie started, and immediately ordered our food. 45 minutes in, went to check and was told "we are working on it...it's up next". Twenty-five (25) minutes later, when they finally did get it ready, it wasn't worth eating - NONE OF IT. I was very disappointed. Popcorn was stale, french fries were NOT fully-cooked, sandwich was "drenched" in b-b-q sauce, nachos had so much salsa/sauce on them that they literally set my mouth on fire! Oh, and there was another movie playing on screen 2, which made the movie playing on screen 1, very hard to hear. Lesson learned - although I MAY go there again because it was a pretty neat place, I will definitely eat before or at least bring my own snacks. read more
