Joe and I have been going to Docksiders on Wednesday nights for the pasta specials. The food is DELICIOUS and even better is Mia - the owner's mother who is the magic behind the pasta specials and the desserts. Joe had a gig tonight and I didn't want to miss it, so I went by myself #roc #eatlocal #pastanight

Some family members wanted to get together to go eat recently on a Friday night, and one of them suggested this place. I had a coupon, so why not? First impression - pretty cool interior. Not very big. Also not busy for a Friday night - not generally a great sign. Second impression - it's 5pm and they immediate tell us they don't have any fish fries. Or half the things on their specials menu. When I tried to order a burger - they're also out of burgers. Ummm, ok? Waitress was friendly. I ordered a Buffalo chicken salad. What came appeared to be a sandwich with a salad - and the chicken in the sandwich - there was no seasoning or any hint of "Buffalo" sauce. No blue cheese. It was basically a plain chicken finger inside a roll. My family all had similar comments about their meals not quite being what they had expected. 2 stars for the friendly waitress. Otherwise, this would be less. Felt like this place wants to be more of a bar that happens to have some food, rather than a restaurant that happens to have a bar.

    Pizza but no cheese....not good.

If I in invited you out to a pub... a certain image would come up in your head. It's probably a pretty comfortable place with good food and drink. comfortable with some nooks and crannys. How about if I invite you to a place with oven in the nane? You think of baked pastas and pizzas. Melted gooey cheeses! Maybe some yummy desserts! That is very much what you WILL NOT find at Docksides. Now don't get me wrong, for what it is...it's fine. But it's not a pizza place or a pub it is... A townie bar... That's it. Crappy decorations designed for mostly 20 somethings to hang out and drink. The food was universally not good. The mozzarella sticks where out of a box with frozen sauce that had no taste. The burger topped with onion rings and bbq sauce itself was ok except for the 3 cups of bbq sauce it was swimming in ruined it. Thankfully we asked about the Mac salad before ordering it and were told that they just changed manufacturers and the waitress hadn't tried it. The fish fry we were told also comes out of a box. Everything is coming out of a box. The worst thing though was the pizza. Half their pizzas don't come with cheese.... Now if you look at the menu , which we did when we got an over cooked crust with just meat on it and no cheese. We looked and sure enough technically the menu doesn't list cheese or sauce but then... It's not pizza. All in all the food was not good and and the beer selection was meh. For a townie bar it's ok, not worth more than a 10 minutes drive. When we were wrapping up, the place filled up after a local highschool basketball game ended.

    Found hair in food.

After three wineries, my husband was definitely ready for some food. When you walk in, you definitely feel like you're entering an English pub! The bar, and place, ent of the bar was very traditional to pubs in the UK. Our server Lawerence definitely helped with his English accent! When asked where he was from, he said Bristol! He came to Canada after her sister relocated. He originally was a cook, but given his accent, they asked hi. To move to the front! Well done. He was a great server too! Very friendly! We decided to share the sausage rolls and shepherds pie. My husband had two Guinness! I'm not sure where he put it in top of the wine, but glad I was driving. The sausage rolls were very tasty. The mustard that came for dipping was the perfect accompaniment. The shepherd's pie had a dark Guinness gravy that was rich and flavorful. I enjoyed the side of peas and carrots too! Sharing these two was the perfect amount, however we wished we'd got the poutine! It looked amazing, it would've been too much food though. Guess we will need to return! PS: loved seeing the sign for Upper Canada Brewing company! In 1988, I visited them with my college partner as we did a college paper on microbrewers! At that time, they were one of a few. We also had visited Great Lakes brewing in CLE! The microbrewing industry exploded shortly there after! Was a great personal walk down memory lane for my college days!! While Upper Canada was sold, was just excellent to see an old sign!
