Dockside is a lovely spot & we had decent service - the lobster roll was a joke - when we asked about it, they said it was "stuffed" - we just went to a place that served 1/3 lb of meat, and this was less than 1/3 of that amount for $34. So I was coming here for my grandfathers birthday and there was live music which I was excited for but it was so loud. It was louder than like a bar during happy hour. We had to move to a different table and it took an hour and a half to get our food! In total we were here for two hours and 45 minutes! When we finally got our food it was mid. My cousin got a hair in her soup and didn't eat it. My uncle didn't even get his food! And my crab cakes were smaller than the palm of my hand! I am not coming back here. The 6oz Fillet was as great as any of the best steakhouses I have visited thought out the US (yes, even Texas). My friends from Pennsylvania had the seafood and loved it. My wife and I ate dinner at the Dockside Grill tonight, and will never eat at the restaurant again under current management. This is the second time we've eaten there. The first time, last Fall, the food was plain and not very good. We decided to give it another try in case the food had improved. The food this evening was just OK. The reason for this review, however, is the deceptive billing. My wife ordered the salmon entrée. It came with a vegetable and rice pilaf. My wife asked if she could substitute something else for the rice pilaf. She was told yes, she could substitute any of the sides; she asked to substitute brussels sprouts for the pilaf. However, rather than being charged $26 (the cost of the entrée, which was to include a vegetable and pilaf), we were charged $34 - $22 for salmon à la carte (salmon only, no vegetable) and $12 for the brussels sprouts. We explained the mistake to the waitress, and asked to speak to the manager. He said that whenever someone asks for a substitution on an entrée, they always charge for the entrée dish à la carte and for whatever the substitute is à la carte. That is their right to do so. However, they did not tell us that. In my book, you cannot make someone pay for something that they did not order (everything à la carte) or charge them more than what they ordered. The manager "explained" this is what they always do. I told him that was unacceptable. If they were going to upcharge for the substitution - which some restaurants do and some restaurants don't - they need to tell you. He said they did not because sometimes "people take offense" if they are told there is an up charge. This is complete, utter hogwash. The technical term for it is bait and switch, which is fraud. So, come for the view if you want, but order as little food as possible and make sure you ask what the charges will be if you request any modifications, because the restaurant apparently feels no obligation to tell you. read more

My wife said this is the best restaurant she has enjoyed in Maine the food has been really excellent the service has been great we have a beautiful view. Cocktails were excellent the Thai chicken wings were cooked to perfection the crabcakes were succulent the salad wedge was very fresh. read more

Little disappointed with this restaurant. Would expect a little nicer place being at a marina. Staff was pleasent and nice place itself outdated and a little junky. They had chairs stacked up against a wall and randomly sitting out. We had a special app the tomato and cheese plate. Cheese was excellent and creamy. The tomatoes were not ripe and very hard. They were even still green so feel like the chef saw this but didnt care and sent it anyway. Had the maine coast paella knew better but tried anyway. Was not worth it and would not recommend it. Rice was soggy and not much flavor. I had the oscar filet now the steak absolute perfection. I didnt even need a knife the fork cut it it was that tender. The crab cake my expectation was very low because im from Baltimore Md area and no one can do crab cakes better but it was ok. I only give this a 2 star due to the service, just terrible and slow. View was great, food was good and location is fantastic. Unfortunately we had to remind our server at least 3-4 times for simple items, long waits on drinks or refreshing our water on a very hot day yesterday. She apologized yet back in my college days I waited tables so basic service isn't hard. We got there around 1:45 and at the time it was maybe a 1/4 full so it wasn't a capacity issues. Again, she could have been new. Would I go back, maybe but would move if we got the same server. read more

Chose this restaurant for the 4.7 rating. We are very understanding of the times. Thankful for those that have shown up to work. However there is no excuse to sit and wait 1:08 to get our food. We were told at the host station there was a 15 minutes delay. We left before receiving our lunch and that sucks. They really didn't seem to care either. Don't judge the restaurant by the outside appearance! Once you come inside, the bar/restaurant area has great ambiance. The happy hour from 4-6 pm offers small plates and discount libations mon-sat.... omg the pan seared scallops as an appetizer and lobster tortellini.... AMAZING.... it may be busier during season, the wait may be longer, but I say YES to this place!!!! My cousin and I LOVED it!!!! read more

We stopped in to this spot on our most recent trip to Maine, the incredible menu is what pulled us in to try Dockside and I'm so glad we did! The service was incredible and the food was absolutely delicious. I got the crab cakes (100% recommend) and the special of the night which was a lobster pasta which was superb. Our server Samantha was funny and sweet and made our dinner that much better. I will 10/10 recommend Dockside for friends and family visiting Maine in the future! Being a Falmouth resident, I'm a big fan of Dockside. This is a great brunch / happy hour joint. The view is beautiful and the food always good. When it's a little warmer you can sit on the deck outdoors and enjoy a cocktail while staring at the beautiful harbor. Yesterday I went for brunch which is always a home run. They have music every Sunday and they make SPECIAL donuts every Sunday (always different flavors). This past Sunday they had: Maple Bacon glaze, chocolate frosted sprinkle and lemon ganache! Always 3 to an order and our table of 5 split them up. They also offer breakfast items plus lunch items for their brunch. I had the curry chicken salad and it was SO good! It comes on top of a bed of lettuce. Also their grand marnier mimosa is so good! The peach bellini is also a favorite. Make a little trip out here for brunch this spring, you'll thank me! This is a great spot which is compromised by hit or miss service, mediocre food, and high prices. It could be a great place, but it just isn't and that makes me sad. But the location and atmosphere cannot be beat on a nice summer evening, so go anyway. Just do what the locals do and move on to somewhere better to eat after enjoying your drinks. Otherwise you may find yourself resentful for how much money you spent for the quality of your experience. read more

But if you've ever in your life enjoyed a good steak, don't make this one of your food memories. I understand as you can't expect the kitchen to have everything out at once. Was an hour before they took our orders. Then 30 minutes after they took our orders, they seated a table of three next to us (same waitress). Fifteen minutes later, that table got their food. Our food was another 15 minutes after that. This restaurant is located in a beautiful scenic location. The restaurant itself has fine ambiance - we went for lunch and it was bright and airy. Other reviews mention excessive noise but I didn't notice any issue with noise. In terms of food, I had the tuna Niçoise salad and it was delicious. The tuna was tender, flavorful, and perfectly seared. The portion was generous but not excessive, and I felt comfortably full thanks to the tuna, egg, olives, etc. I appreciated the hearty salad that gave me an opportunity to eat something healthy but wasn't overly light. The waitress responded knowledgeably to my questions about dietary restrictions. The menu designates which options are gluten free. Others in my party had sandwiches, fish and chips, and other dishes and everyone enjoyed them. The service was a little bit slow but not egregiously so. Being from New England we are quite familiar with the price range for this simple meal. Even their lobster roll was good and the French fries were decent and their Diet Coke was cold - it wasn't as good as their price reflected. For 2 lobster rolls, FF and diet cokes - we rang out at $48.60. That's the most money I've ever paid for lobster roll and FF....I get it we paid for the view. The 2 stars are to be distributed as follows: the bartenders and wait staff get one--they are superb and long-suffering. The pumpkin beer served with a cinnamon-sugar rim was quite enjoyable. The other star is for the view, which is great until the sun goes down. Then it is dark. I didn't order the salmon because I was assured it was previously frozen. I didn't ask about the haddock and probably should have because it was tasteless and slightly dry. The risotto on which it sat was not too bad, and the asparagus was good too. Sitting around for 3 hours with a brief period of scarfing fish would have been reasonably pleasant except that it was surprisingly noisy--I had to really lean in to hear the person across from me. I can only assume the kitchen is too small or short-handed to deal with a full restaurant. One more remark: they don't take reservations, and the hostess was struggling to keep a good attitude about finding room for a large party. A top restaurant does not make the diners feel like they are asking too much to sit and eat their food. read more

Restaurant itself is beautiful and located in an upscale suburban neighborhood. Service was good. The food was absolutely incredible. Split a 32 Oz. Wagyu steak that was one of the best I've ever had. Wife had salmon with miso glaze and mango salsa. Daughter had seared halibut. All were top notch. I visited Dockside with 10 coworkers on a beautiful Monday evening. It was easy to find after veering onto route 88 in Falmouth, but the parking situation is confusing. Fortunately they had an attendant pointing the way. Located steps from the ocean with a panoramic view, the setting is breathtaking. The Old Port is great, but the ocean view from the restaurants disappoint. Dockside's view is far better and would be a great choice for out of town guests. There's a downstairs bar and seating, outdoor seating, and an upstairs dining room. We sat outside downstairs. The fried calamari was good, but normal. It was similar to any other seafood restaurant. The mussels were the big disappointment of the night. They were tiny, maybe the size of a nickel, with minimal flavor. After the appetizers I didn't know what to expect. But the scallop dish was fantastic. 3 giant scallops (maybe too few for the nearly $30 price) were seared to perfection. As a fan of spicy foods, the giant poblano pepper holding a bed of rice was smoking hot. Too spicy for my co worker, but perfect for me. I'd order it again in a second. Everyones' entree looked great. Huge portions of salmon, tilapia, tuna, all served with creative and fun sides. For very solid seafood with a better view than Portland can provide, Dockside is a top pick. read more

Stopped by on a trip to Cape Elizabeth. The previous reviews we disconcerting and almost swayed our decision not to come here. SO GLAD we made the trip! The ambiance and view were lovely. Our server Matthew was excellent and so attentive. The happy hour specials were affordable and the dinner specials were amazing! Scallops melted in your mouth and Brussel sprout slaw was delicious.
