To start bread before our meal was $8 and not very good bread. Their water smelled like sulfur (boiled eggs). Perhaps it's well water? So many things tasted fishy. Even my salad from the salad bar. The only explanation I could find was that perhaps someone swapped the serving spoon for the chopped beets with the pickled herring (I assume it was pickled herring). Crab cakes were not great again too fishy. Maybe they used imitation crab meat? After sharing everything at $77 we will not be back. Wish we had tried the Beverly on the 7th floor instead. read more

Fantastic salad bar. Due to Covid precautions the bar is set behind plexus glass with staff making to order. Great fresh selections. My 7 year old LOVED the Reece's sundae. I was part of a group of 10. We were going to go to Beverly's but plans changed midday for unknown reasons. I had never eaten at Dockside so I was eager to try their food. The calamari was rubbery, to start. I ordered the salmon with wild rice. The salmon was so dry I had to drink water with every bite. The wild rice had a lot of uncooked grains in it, one of which was so hard it chipped one of my molars. Now I will have to have dental work done due to the poorly prepared rice. Most of the group ordered steaks, and by the end of the meal I noticed that nobody had eaten more than half of their steaks. The general consensus was that the steaks were "okay" but lacked flavor and were kind of tough to chew. Finally, after dinner I ordered creme brulee to take home to my wife. Instead of it being prepared in a portable container of some sort, it was scraped into a to-go box for me to take home. Literally scraped into the cardboard box. I couldn't believe my eyes when I got home and opened the container. Overall this was a poor dining experience all the way around. I can't go into too much detail here as I've completely forgotten what we had - and it was two days ago. That alone tells you all you need to know. I do know for a fact that the food is very average here, we all agreed on that, and that I would try a lot of other places in CDA before we returned. The service was excellent, the table overlooking the lake was great. However, along with the mediocre food, the clientele here is just weird. I guess it's because so many are staying on the grounds, they feel this is like their own kitchen, but we saw flip flops, full camo gear, cut-off jeans shorts, and a lot of t-shirts. We know that this is not the best place in the building - that's Beverly's upstairs - but the final bill was close to $200 including a bottle of low-end wine. Sorry CDA resort, but for $200 the food has to be at least pretty good. read more

First, the least important issues- the food was overly priced for being under seasoned cold. Don't let the "cheesy pasta" on the kids menu fool you... it's Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. We felt like we had to flag our waitress down and it would take her a while to return with any requested items. She never came to check in unless we asked for her. We ordered two gooeys. The one that comes with the Valentine's Day meal, and a kids gooey. I look over the bill and see we were charged for gooey. I ask about it and she says it wasn't included in the dinner for two. A MINI was covered but the regular size was NOT. Okay, so when we asked for the one that comes with the meal, why not clarify that what we were asking for was not the included item? No where in the menu does it state what SIZE the dessert is. Annoying but okay... she removes the kids gooey and charges for the regular one. I give her my card. She brings back a receipt that my card has been charged almost 75.00 more than the bill. I bring it to her attention and she says "I guess I authorized it for the wrong total. I'll fix it." Meanwhile, I'm watching my account pop up that the incorrect payment is now pending. I ask the waitress (she gives me an updated receipt) and she says "it's just pending. It will change. I placed it for the original total." I'm slightly frustrated here because I know nothing can be done about pending transactions other than the waiting game, but I kept my cool. Not once did she apologize for her mistake. I speak with the front desk staff and they say there's nothing they can do about it and it will bounce back in 3-5 business days. "It's a bank issue." But no, it's not. It's a STAFF ERROR. So now I have this charge hanging in the air. I have money that I do not have access to until it is placed back into the account. It doesn't matter if they eventually changed it (although my bank says it hasn't been changed) the overdraft fees keep coming for as long as that over charge is pending. I have automatic bills that are pulled out. To some, it's not a big deal, but we have budgeted this into our finances to be able to take our children out for a NICE Valentine's Day meal. They've lived here their whole lives (and I've been here for half of mine) and never got to experience the infamous Gooey we have all heard about. We are moving in a few months and they really wanted to experience the "fancy" dining at Dockside. I've spoken with the waitress, the staff, one manager, and accounting. I feel like I'm being made to jump through hoops to rectify this situation. One supervisor never even returned my call. Instead of paying 100.00 for our meal, it's turning into much more. I've spoken with our bank. They do not see any changes on the charge on their end. They said that in cases like this, as long as the insufficient funds are there, the overdraft fees keep coming. After the change has been made, the overdraft fees are still the responsibility of the customer as they had to cover whatever wasn't available when the charge was pending. For every 100.00, a 38.00 fee is applied. It feels like this isn't a big deal for the restaurant but it IS a big deal for us. It's a big deal for any middle class family who is budgeting. That's a grocery bill. A phone bill. Gas. Can it wait? For some, yes. Should it have to? No. And honestly, a lukewarm dinner isn't worth all of this chaos. There's a reason we had not dined at dockside (pricing) and now here's a reason we will never dine at, nor recommend dockside again. Ever. Double check your receipts. Seriously. This is a nightmare and I cannot believe how insensitive the staff has been about it. UPDATE- After posting, management reached out to me. A refund should be issued by next week. I'll update again once I see it. UPDATE- A refund came through a few days ago. I still have to cover fees which is unfortunate, but lesson learned. read more

Dined 07/27/2022... Reservation 5:45pm for birthday celebration. Temperature in restaurant was uncomfortably hot and humid. Staff was unresponsive to the ongoing issue. Management was nowhere to be found. When making the reservation, I was asked about a special occasion. I responded it was a birthday dinner. Staff never acknowledged the occasion. Why ask? We've been coming here for years and this last time was so disappointing! My mom and I ordered the salmon Caesar salad and it was unbelievably dry, my husband and dad both ordered the burger and they were both so over cooked they were hockey pucks! Over-priced and dry, do NOT waste your money at this resort. My uncle ordered eggs benedict and the restaurant didn't have biscuits, so they offered an english muffin instead; why can't you make him a biscuit? It's a restaurant! These cooks at dockside are line cooks, not chefs. This resort is so cheap and frugal that they can't get real chefs. For the third time since May, we have driven from Spokane to have dessert at Dockside. And for the third time, we were turned away. We called before making the 45 minute trip to check table availability and ask if we needed to make a reservation for 2. Each time we were told no. We got there this time, and were told by the hostess that essentially they were closed, 2 hours before their listed close time, because they had so many people waiting. When we asked why they didn't tell us that when we called, they stated they didn't know it would get busy. I am done making the trip to get turned away. Guess I'll make my own dessert at home for 1/3 of the price and zero the disappointment, and save myself the gas. So unhappy with the unprofessional behavior of this business. read more

Salad bar, salad bar and moooore salad bar!!! This place really good if you want to stay healthy, the salad bar has a wide variety of options and its unlimited!! I got 5 plates last time I went, sorry to the guy beside me in the bathroom stalls. I would probably stay away from the meats like steak, my mother in law got it and it looked like a piece of leather been out in the sun for days bleh. Dockside is known for their amazing buffets they host during holidays like thanksgiving so if you ever want a decent buffet try to reserve your spots fast months in advance if you can. The view is really nice it faces the lake with really big windows. If you ever stay for fireworks you can eat dinner at the same time which a lot of people do, that way you don't have to deal with crowds outside and can stay warm during winter. This trick also works with Beverly's on the seventh floor. Dockside also known for their Gooey's which are very big ice cream desserts that are themed for the holidays. Every time I go there I check to see if they got the new Gooey on display for pictures, they have a mini Gooey which is good for 2 people but you'll want the normal size if you got more people in your party. read more

This was by far their worst service I have ever seen them provide. I called their desk a week agoto find out if they were going to start doing their brunches again on the weekend. The gal informed me they will only be doing it for special occasions and holidays. I asked if they would be doing the brunch for Father's day and I was told yes. We arrive at our reserved time. I asked the front desk if they were doing brunch abd they said no. They said they were doing the fathers day BBQ, which started at noon (wat after our reserved time). There was 4 of us. They seated us and took away one complete place setting off our table and only provided 3 menus, when clearly we had 4 in our group and we all arrived at the same time. The fella serving us saw we had 4 in our group and only 3 place settings, but did not offer to get us another place setting. We finally asked Nad brought us another set, but no menu. My group ordered coffee (3 of us did). They bring the coffee but no spoons. We ask for spoonoks and they bring 2....are we not in covid that each should have their own spoons so we don't share? And 20-30 minutes between refills, when our cups were empty way before then. The sugar tray was empty after 2 people used sugar packets on the first fill of the cups and was never refilled. It was such a small menu. There was only 8 or 9 items on the menu. Nothing really fit for someone who may be on a diet where fruit or yogurt or something along those lines would of worked just fine. It took better of 45 minutes to recieve our meals. The restuarant was not busy at all. When he brought our meals to us, he forgot the milk that went with my oatmeal and also forgot to butter my English muffin, or for thay matter just provide the butter. I asked him for it and by the time I did get the butter, the English muffin was cold that it didn't even melt the butter. When they refilled the waters, there was no more ice in the glass, so our water was warm. Just a very horrible experience. We have always had better service than this. We could of stayed home and done a better job or at least went to a IHOP or Dennys and gotten better service. read more

Everyone we met while in CDA told us to come here and for the gooey. You'll find Dockside in the resort hotel. The views of the lake are fantastic and the desserts really are amazing. The food was good, beer selection was ok and the staff were all very nice. Prices are fair to boot. read more

Went here on a Friday night for my sisters birthday dinner. I made reservations earlier that day. It wasn't too busy when we got there. We got seated by the window overlooking the water. The service was great. We had drinks, which were all tasty. I got the Mac and Cheese which was excellent. The noodles were cooked perfectly. My sister got fish and said it was amazing. They definitely don't skimp on the portions and are very accommodating to make your meal what you want it to be with several substitute options. The dessert, which is what they are known for, the Gooy, was amazing. We all 3 got the personal one to share because it was plenty. I hear the bid size is enough for several people to share. The food was amazing. However the server was not. I had this raggedy brunette with a mustache who did not belong serving food. Normally I would not judge a book by its cover, however he was very rude and acted very strange. He looked intoxicated and was slacking very much. He barely brought any water and had no customer service skills whatsoever. I don't remember the name, It was either Dylan or Daniel, all I remember for sure were his poor manners and tired demeanor. He had shaggy unkept hair, it was light brown, and he had facial hair. I probably won't be returning due my poor experience with this server. Would not recommend to friends or family. read more

I absolutely do not recommend coming here. After waiting almost a hour for a table, we were walked in there was a dozen empty tables not even cleaned off, so the wait was for nothing. After being seated, the table was completely in even and kept rocking back and forth. After waiting for 15 minutes to get any service I ordered a $16 burger and paid $1.50 bc just to add cheese that was shown in the picture on the menu. You would think a burger at this price point would be exquisite, however you would be wrong to think that at dockside. IT WAS SO BAD. The burger was dry, un tasteful, and cold. The buns were dollar store quality and everything else as well. Please save your money and avoid this place. I recommend tap house over this place 100%. Super disappointing experience. Came here for lunch around 2:00. The restaurant was pretty dead. Cooks were standing around just hanging out. Ordered the mac and cheese and clam chowder soups, they were cold. We had a water glass fall off our table and most of the servers just walked over it and wouldn't help me clean it up. A nice waitress came over who wasn't serving our table and tried to help even though it wasn't her section. When we left, the spill was still all over the floor and people were walking over it. I was worried a guest or staff member was going to slip and fall. No wet sign was ever put out. Definitely would not recommend this place. read more

For this hotel being "high end", the food feels very average. The view of the water is great, but the decor feels dated. My coworkers had ahi tuna, trout, and salmon which all looked really good. I'll be honest with you, I've only been for dessert, so I cannot speak to the full experience...but I still rate this place pretty darn high. Why? The Gooey. Our family enjoys coming here for the special treat of Docksides oh so infamous Gooey. Named after the great flavor and texture of varying choices. Even though the restaurant is always well attended it is large and we are always seated quickly. We very much enjoy the gorgeous view of the Coeur d Alene Lake, Sunsets, boats, lights reflecting off the water at night etc. Once in a while I venture off from the Gooey and decide to try something else. This particular time I ordered what I think was called Carmel Cashew Cake. It arrived Decadently dressed to kill aesthetically. And it may be extremely delicious to the next person. But it wasn't my thing. I like the frosting thicker and more cocoa flavored. So I was regretting trying something new. Get a Gooey you will not be disappointed! read more

What a disappointment today at lunch. I ordered their "signature hamburger". It came cold ! It wasn't fresh grilled. The burger was tough and cold. French fries were cold and not tasty. Service was terrible. The place is run by a bunch of "kids". They were standing in group, joking and laughing loudly. Service was slow. Our table was not cleaned after the salad bar or the entree. We have been here multiple times, and service was always impeccable in the past, with our tables cleaned after each course and water and iced tea refilled appropriately! Didn't happen this time. We have to ask for iced tea refill. My husband's salmon was not flavorful and not grilled well (and he always ordered salmon in the past). The vegetables were soggy and awful. I am sad that Dockside had declined in value and service. Management, please pay attention. These young adults running the place need supervision. And the chefs apparently need supervision too so they don't serve cold food. read more

I wrote earlier that the Dockside Grill had the best bacon cheeseburger I'd ever eaten, bar none. Actually, that wasn't accurate. At the time, Dockside had two specialty burgers on its menu, and both ranked top of my list. Unfortunately, based on today's lunch, Dockside no longer serves an apex burger. While the bun remains superb, the fries are very good, the bacon is very fine, and the fixings are fresh and tasty, the restaurant has dropped the local, grass-fed ground beef that once made this the best burger anywhere. read more

I've eaten here 3 times on my vacation to Couer D'ALane. I've tried the Huckleberry martini, Huckleberry crush drinks, Huckleberry cobbler, coconut cake, and anniversary sundae for desserts, the potato skins and cougars gold dip for appetizers, and the Idaho trout for entree.
