If I can do negative stars I would . So completely disappointed in you , John…read more Maple St. Deli has been a huge disappointment, especially considering it's within walking distance of my home. It's a quaint neighborhood deli with over 100 years of history, which is why I kept giving it chance after chance. I've ordered from this deli many times. They have frequently gotten my order wrong, but I never complained. I simply accepted it and moved on. On Father's Day, I ordered three egg sandwiches around 10:00 a.m. I arrived at 10:30 to pick them up and still waited another 15 minutes. After spending about $35, the order was wrong. Again, I let it go. Today was the final straw. I ordered two egg sandwiches and a small deli iced tea for delivery. The total was $33 before tip. The owner, John, delivered the order himself. He rang my Ring doorbell twice but never knocked. We completed the exchange without issue. When I opened the bag, the order was wrong--again. I called and politely asked to speak with the owner. I explained that my order had been made incorrectly. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, John hung up on me. I called back three more times, and each time either he or his staff hung up on me. I drove to the deli to speak with him face-to-face. His response was simply, "That's unfortunate," and he refused to remake the sandwiches or offer any refund or solution. Everyone makes mistakes. What separates a good business from a bad one is how those mistakes are handled. I wasn't angry about an incorrect sandwich--I was shocked by the complete lack of customer service, accountability, and basic respect. After years of overlooking mistakes and trying to support a local business, this experience has guaranteed I will never return. There are plenty of delis that appreciate their customers and stand behind their service. Unfortunately, Maple St. Deli isn't one of them.

Finally found a great deli in Bay Shore!…read more I have been in Bay Shore since July (almost 4 months), and have struggled to find a good deli. Cornerstone Deli is tucked into a smaller parking lot, right across the street from the hospital. I have passed it many times, and have always seemed to forget about it, until yesterday. There is ample parking in the lot which makes it super convenient and easy to go to. The service was great as well as the staff being super friendly. I had ordered a grilled chicken wrap, with lettuce, onions, cheddar cheese and chipotle mayo. They actually make their own chipotle mayo, it's the best one I have had yet. The wrap was a great size, and the grilled chicken was super fresh. I had also ordered an iced coffee, which again was fresh and tasty. They had a lot of good sandwiches up on the board to order, and I still need to try a breakfast sandwich from there was well. I'm really happy that I found a good deli. Coming from Queens, there are a ton of good delis, and I have had such a hard time finding something good in Bay Shore.

When I walked in there was a young lady leaning over-the-counter eating, and I was hoping this…read morewasn't the person that was going to make my sandwich. She was polite and smiled but I felt that it was unprofessional and unsanitary to be dripping food onto a paper below her sandwich on the counter where you serve customers. There weren't many choices of meats in their deli display and I wasn't even sure the brand of ham and cheese that was put in my sandwich. I got it on a roll that didn't smell right and wasn't very good. A good roll is fluffy yet crunchy and can taste good just on its own. There was just something off about this roll. It was pretty hard on the bottom and the flavor of it was not what I'm used to. It was as if it had been a mass manufactured roll that had been refrigerated. The sandwich portion was below average for the cost. The macaroni salad was not tasty at all. I got the sandwich with a bag of chips and a Diet Coke for $18. I will say the two young ladies working there and an older lady were all very polite. I just felt the place needed an upgrade and if you're going to charge almost $20 for one sandwich, chips and a soda then that sandwich needs to rock and it did not. I ended up throwing out the macaroni salad because it didn't taste good. I only ate half of the ham and cheese sandwich and threw out the rest. On Long Island you expect quality, portion size, general appeal, and service when you go to a deli. This place unfortunately fell short on a few of those.
