fried shrimp platter with macaroni and cheese, fries and green beans

We walked in found a table even though most tables were occupied. Sat waitress cleaned table off n wiped it down took out beverage order returned quickly with drinks took our lunch order and Dock house DID NOT disappoint. The food was fresh and absolutely perfect! Flash fried shrimp platter with fries, Mac and cheese plus green beans; Was so good my friend had the tuna burger and he loved it. My portion was huge and had enough to take home as my dinner. Yum! Place was busy and walking distance to ocean great temp out on a sunny summer day! Great place for a quick bite or to linger while enjoying your meal.

Not the exact view, but pretty close as it is on Taylor's Creek.

Fearing from subpar reviews, I was hesitant to come here. But our experience was great. It was a dark and stormy night... Not really but these guys were open later than their competition so bonus points for that. If I find our waitresses name, I will call it out because she was at the end of a long shift, our party of 5 were late arrivers, and she was upbeat and pleasant. She made for a great experience. We sat on the top level overlooking Taylor's Creek on a very amenable balcony. Beer and drinks were great and served quickly. The food was seafood and pub fare mostly because our group wanted to eat pretty simply. I think mostly fish tacos and cheeseburgers. I had a cheeseburger and loved it, quite juicy and drippy and tasty, and if I say more, the censors will get me. Welcoming and friendly service, unparalleled evening view, and awesome food gets Dockhouse high marks from our group!

Went here for a quick lunch en route back to Pinehurst. We arrived a bit early, before they opened. The staff were friendly and welcoming, providing us with menus to look at prior. Went on walk to check out other lunch spots with a view. Came back, sat upstairs on upper deck. Beautiful views. Ordered scallops and a burger. Both were delicious and priced well. Would definitely come back again. Good value, good food, friendly staff! They even gave us coozies! Thank you! From your Hawaii guests!

Carolina-style burger was smallish and very underseasoned.

The waterfront view made this an attractive choice when we were visiting the area, but the food was a bit disappointing. In a word, everything was underseasoned - from the french fries to the burger, even the special of the day, a "spicy" beans and rice dish with choice of proteins. The Carolina-style burger featured a smallish 6-8 ounce patty, topped with oily cheddar cheese with a side of mayo-based cole slaw and a small offering of chipotle-based chili. The fries were tepid and completely unseasoned. The spicy beans and rice bowl was mostly red and green bell peppers, onions and just a small amount of rice and beans in the bottom. The grilled chicken was nicely prepared, but again, very bland in flavor. Both meals were served on paper plates and our utensils were bagged plastic spoons and forks, cafeteria style. The weak house merlot was even served in a plastic cup.

This is definitely a nice place for a casual date night or an evening out with your family. I ordered the crabcake sandwich. My boyfriend had the mahi-mahi and my son ordered the fish and chips. The portions were a very good size and we were grateful that we had not ordered starters. Never have I ever seen so much food on a fish and chips platter. My crabcake sandwich was very good. The sandwich was so flavorful due to the mixed greens tomato slices and remoulade sauce. My boyfriend really liked the mahi-mahi with the mango salsa, coconut, jasmine rice, and steamed vegetables. Has came with thinly sliced carrots and string beans. My son had the fish and chips.... Really fish and chips. This is the first time I've ever been somewhere where they don't give you fish and french fries.

On our table was the ever popular Blowing Rock Burger, a fresh tasting Mahi Mahi, a blackened mahi with mango salsa, sweet chili sauce coconut jasmine rice and vegetables, shrimp and grits, salad with steamed shrimp, but the show stopper had to be the Shrimp Mac & Cheese, a four-cheese cream sauce over cavatappi pasta with bacon & scallions & topped with fried shrimp. The breading was light and crisp and complemented the four cheeses so nicely.

Aqua announces itself quietly, and even our brief misstep on arrival felt intentional an elegant sign gently redirecting us around back, where we later realized there's a convenient entrance directly across from the parking lot. A small discovery we tucked away for our next visit. From the moment we stepped inside, the hospitality set the tone. The host greeted us with genuine enthusiasm and an ease that made it clear he knew exactly why we were there. His warmth felt celebratory without being performative, just right. We were led to our table and introduced to Iesha, whose presence defined the evening. Iesha guided us through the menu with confidence and care, highlighting a thoughtful anniversary tradition: a complimentary glass of champagne or crème brûlée. We happily chose both. She struck that elusive balance of attentiveness and restraint present when needed, graciously invisible when not allowing the evening to unfold at its own pace. Our table sampled a range of the menu. The rare curry-seared local tuna arrived with curry riced cauliflower and traditional accompaniments unexpected in flavor but satisfying nonetheless. The The special for that evening, was rich and comforting. Even the simplest order, the kids' shrimp and fries was met with enthusiasm from our youngest diner, always a good sign. Aqua delivers food that is thoughtful, distinctive, and well-suited for a celebration. It's the kind of place that feels special without trying too hard a reliable choice for marking a meaningful moment. And when you go, do yourself a favor and ask for Iesha. She's the kind of server who turns a good dinner into a memorable one.

We dined at Aqua this evening and were not disappointed! Everything was excellent and they treated my shellfish allergy with much care and attention. The server was friendly and excited about all of the food. The small plates are a wonderful idea and although what they consider "small", the flavor and size were perfect for us. Two in our party had the small plate Filet over Truffle dusted hash browns (yummy) while another member had the clams in saffron sauce that was amazing. Another member asked to substitute the Grouper on the Crab Cake small plate which was no problem for the kitchen and wonderful tasting. We had Creme Brulee and Chocolate Mousse for dessert and both were awesome. We will definitely return to this restaurant in the future.

The building was once Owen's Grocery store and is now a casual restaurant. They serve sandwiches and salads for lunch, but the dinner menu is closer to fine dining. I highly recommend making reservations if you are going for dinner, as it is a very popular place, even in the off-season. Reservations are not taken for the Sunday brunch, so I made sure to get there early to be first in line. On my recent visits, the restaurant was decorated for the holidays, so that was fun. It is small inside, but in warmer weather, there are outside tables. Alex took care of me at dinner. He was very welcoming, friendly, and could answer all my questions. He was very attentive and made sure my iced tea was always full. I went with the special for the night. I ordered the ribeye special without realizing it was 20 ounces. Thankfully, my appetite was good that night. It came with brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. I did get dessert too, and that was a chocolate peanut butter pie. That took me two days to finish. At brunch, my waitress was friendly and went over all the specials. I had a green apple mocktail, the #18 poached and stacked. I did the mini sweet potato biscuits as well so it was a lot of food. Alex, from dinner, saw me and asked me about my trip, so it was nice to see him again, and I thought it was nice that he remembered my plans. I will be dining here at least once on future trips to Beaufort, NC.
