The service here was terrible. My family and I were starving after walking around and they told us to sit anywhere. We sat outside where the table and chairs were wet which was fine, but then no one came outside for 15 minutes so we went in and asked for a towel to wipe it down ourselves. The girl couldn't be more bothered and told us to grab a damp one at the end of the bar. We had menus and were ready to order everything at once. We waited for 30 minutes with absolutely no one coming to our table while servers kept walking by us. A big family came outside and sat down next to us. Can't rate the food-visited noon hour non-holiday Sunday . Told by lone server we could take table of choice. Outdoor seating area was then fully occupied. Beautiful waterfront view. Waited over ten minutes at Un-wiped table with no water or menu delivery. Looking around at surrounding tables/parties with either no food or a few with finished plates waiting for service or bill with no server appearance. Decided to bail and glad we did so. I feel for the lone server who was overwhelmed, but owner/operator is clearly dysfunctional and careless in this operation. (table that came way after my family was asked if they needed their check and served at the same time) Mind you, we ordered way before they got there and it seems that our food was left out to get cold before we were served. (My family is a different ethnicity than white and it really seemed that we were treated differently.) When the food finally came out, we were missing multiple parts of our order plus orders came out with a different side that wasn't ordered. It was a Monday, so many restaurants in the area were closed. We had passed by this one and the smell of fried food drew us in as we were ready for lunch. We took a look at the menu and found that they had shrimp burgers and other casual favorites so we decided to eat here... but wish we wouldn't have. The food was generally well below mediocre. Most of the meals came with Cole slaw, but it wasn't like any I have ever had. I am always up for new things, but this was awful. It wasn't creamy at all and tasted like pickles and mustard. None of us ate it and there were several at our table that usually love Cole slaw. The hush puppies were the absolute worst I've ever had. The were large balls of dough that had absorbed oil almost all the way through but were otherwise pretty flavorless. They looked like the had been dropped in a deep fryer that was not up to temp yet and so they sat there and absorbed oil before they started frying. My mom ordered flash fried oysters which sounded great. But they were very soggy rather than lightly crisp. Gross. My aunt ordered clam chowder. She complained that it was all potatoes and not much clam. I thought she was being picky, so I tried it after she didn't eat even a quarter of it. It tasted like celery in water with maybe a little corn starch to make it slightly thicker than water. Runny, bland, not creamy, and honestly not edible. Too bad, I love a good clam chowder, especially if it is served in a bread bowl, which of course this was not. As a shrimp burger connoisseur, I had to try theirs. The shrimp wasn't bad, but there wasn't very much of it on the burger and it was by far more expensive than the better, larger ones I've had everywhere else. Shrimp burgers are usually served with slaw on them, but luckily they serve it on the side or else their slaw would have ruined the shrimp. My husband and daughter got the scallop burgers and said the scallops were good. My dad had a cheeseburger and he said it was pretty good too. These items are the only reason I give it 2 stars rather than one. The fries were ok, not bad, nothing special. The service was friendly but slow.it took a while to be able to order and a while to get the food or any drink refills. But she was nice and helpful. Because we had 7 people in our party, 18 percent gratuity was automatically added, so I guess there was no real motivation to go above and beyond. We vacation down here regularly, but this will not be a place we'd ever waste money on again. read more

In a word, everything was underseasoned - from the french fries to the burger, even the special of the day, a "spicy" beans and rice dish with choice of proteins. The Carolina-style burger featured a smallish 6-8 ounce patty, topped with oily cheddar cheese with a side of mayo-based cole slaw and a small offering of chipotle-based chili. The fries were tepid and completely unseasoned. The spicy beans and rice bowl was mostly red and green bell peppers, onions and just a small amount of rice and beans in the bottom. The grilled chicken was nicely prepared, but again, very bland in flavor. Both meals were served on paper plates and our utensils were bagged plastic spoons and forks, cafeteria style. It was clearly straight from the can. My husband got the loaded fries for $12. Limp lukewarm fries topped with canned kidney beans. He asked for a side of ranch and was told the dressings were for salads only. I order a chef salad with scallops for dinner (and paid an extra $12 to add these scallops). My salad came out topped with cold and overly battered friend oysters. It had taken 90 mins to get our entrees so by that time I didn't want to send back for the scallops. The worst shrimp ever-they were salty and had an iodine taste. After long wait -over 30 minutes for a shrimp burger. Went with my husband and ordered 2 shrimp burgers came with fries that were tasteless but couldn't order just a shrimp burger alone. It was a take out ,so no drinks-bill was $33. Save your money for less than half the price get a shrimp burger from El's drive in-supersized still less than half the price and so much better. We took a day trip to go see the wild horses which was awesome, so we needed a spot to get some food and drink and the view from this place sold us. We went to the waiting area and it said full so we started to walk away when a man said I have 1 table left upstairs if you want it. We sat down had a great view of the water and the waitress was there within a minute or so. After being out in the sun for half the day I needed a drink and the mermaid water caught my eye. It was delicious! I ordered the shrimp and oysters which came with green beans, coleslaw and fries. The shrimp was very good and the oysters just ok. I did order some for my kids which they have a kids menu and the portions are very good, I don't think either of mine ate it all. It's pretty bad. So the view is to die for. Absolutely gorgeous. You seat yourself. We sat upstairs the breeze was lovely. Service is a bit scattered but she eventually got to us. I got the frozen mango margarita. I don't know what I was served but there was a funky taste almost like lime. We ordered the peel and eat shrimp. They're horrid. Somehow overlooked but mushy? They weren't edible. We just left them. The Cajun magi sandwich. It's dry and on stale bread. The French fries were gross. They were so greasy and tasted like funnel cake. Just overall a bad meal. We really enjoyed our meals. Portions were really big, so aware of that. My wife got a tuna basket and it was large tuna steak with fried, slaw, green beans and hush puppies. The tuna as grilled with a great seasoning. I had a fried flounder and oysters basket. There was around a dozen oysters that tasted great and two large flounder filets. It was all very good. We sat outside and the staff were wearing masks, so we felt safe eating here. And you just can't beat sitting on the docks and looking at the boats float by. read more
