Not a lot of selection of guns here....pretty sad. I spent 20 minutes in the store with no customers around and not one employee acknowledged me or tried to help. Visited Doc Holliday's yesterday and was amazed at the amount of information Ken, the owner has about all the different weapons he has in the store. Prices are great, he had everything needed for the weapons he was selling. Friendly and will definitely be going back for all our future firearms. The older man that was there today was all but rude and angry. Not sure how you expect to run a business that requires in store purchase with that sort of go away attitude. Would have bought a few boxes of ammo if not for such unpleasantries. My only guess is they need you to bring them a box of donuts as that is the only reason I can think of for the attitude. Saw that sign on 6th Street a million times, but finally checked this place out and it was more than worth the effort. Doc Holliday's is the kind of place where you can know next to nothing about firearms, yet these guys will take the time to educate you in a way that doesn't make you feel like a total moron. In so many other stores I've wanted to buy a pistol, or rifle and felt the blank stare of the meathead behind the counter like I was supposed to be the expert and answer his questions. At Doc Holliday's, new comers to firearms will feel welcomed. Yep, I read the review from Jordan R. and feel bad that sort of crap took place, but hopefully the owner made some personnel changes, rechecked his inventory and that sort of crap never happens again. A very bad experience with Doc holidays gun store in grants pass Oregon, pass this to all gun forums and collectors -buyers. Never ever use this store !!! Before they changed hands it was great and I never had a problem with them. last week i called and talked to ken, the latest owner of the store. I had called the day previously and asked for the owner and he said he would be in the next day. So i called back the next day and got ken on the phone and told him I wanted to know what he would give me for my unfired, in the box, stainless steel Taurus judge 454 casul -3 inch 410. He seemed nice and said hold on, let me look this up and see what I pay for them. He looked up the gun while I was on the phone, he asked me again to go over the finish and caliber and barrel length to be sure he had it correct, ok that's good and said, I pay $800 for that gun. if its unfired as you say, i will give you $699 if you bring it in . I said, OK we had a deal and asked again, so its $699 for my gun, correct ken ? he repeated, yes, if its unfired as you say ill give you $699. I said ok we have a deal as I am making a deal on another item i wanted and needed this to make the purchase. As it turned out I guess I needed to have recorded that call. Today I took time off and took it in and asked for him, he walked out and all of a sudden sicked his ", manager " who stepped in front of me at the counter as Ken just stood there and watched as if he was some new trainee learning the ropes, just two feet away. This guy proceeds to examine the gun, even takes it in the back to scope it and agrees its unfired. I'm wondering why the guy who made the deal isn't even interacting with me, it felt "off" and my spidey sense told me something was just off here. THEN, the owner ken actually said to me, I don't remember talking to you, must have been a loooong time ago. I was utterly shocked and said. noooo, a few days ago, late last week. Then the manager guy tries to take over again, well he says we can only give you $576 !!!! I said why am I even talking to you, the OWNER STANDING TWO FEET AWAY made the deal ? I looked at the so-called owner who was not acting like the owner said, he is my manager, really !!! The manager overrides the owner and the owner's word. So when the owner made the deal on the phone with me, I should have asked him to go check with his employees to see if he was allowed to do so ? A guy wow now plays dumb like he cant remember a long conversation we had a few days ago so they can low ball me, like a used car scam. One of the oldest slimy sales tricks in the book is what that is, a low ball. I told him MY words actually meant something and I had agreed to make a deal based on his words but he just stood there with a blank hamster look, letting his "manager " be the bad guy to get me to give it up for less, pressure me to take it or walk out with nothing, hoping I would cave I guess. Wow, I have dealt with legit gun stores for over 50 years COAST TO COAST and my father and I bought and sold guns together since i had been 12. I am a senior citizen now on ss so every $ means food for the family and to my face, they tried to lowball me. worst experience in my life at a gun store. I even picked this gun up at this store when i bought it. the "manager " kept parroting, we don't make deals over the phone as if he was calling me a liar which clearly to me shows he had been coached to say and this "play " this game and we, in my opinion, they both seemed too comfortable in this game, so it must have been played on others as well. He must have instructed his employee to take this over when I came in as I called and let them know I was bringing in the gun to complete the deal. They never said the gun was not unfired or complete with every piece of paper and original box, I even said, tell me how this could be in better shape ? just got blank looks and I had even offered to toss in the two unfired boxes of ammo I got from them when I got the gun. Rest assured this goes on every gun forum I belong to on fb and mewe and on the internet. in addition, I'm calling every one of the many shooters I know here and gun buyers and telling them about their shoddy business dealings. if the young owner actually does not remember the long conversation we had, the time he spent looking up the exact gun, telling me what he pays and what he would give me, twice, just a few days prior, he needs to seek medical attention for early onset dementia or amnesia. Now I have to explain to another senior why I cant keep up my end and pass this on to him as well. I felt this was senior abuse by the way. The idea was to intimidate me ( no chance ) into taking the low ball amount or leave. Why an owner of a business would behave in such a condescending blatantly scammy behavior is mind-boggling. Most gun stores, by the way, are not like this, take your business to a store that won't abuse a customer in this manner. read more

Swore I would never go into this store again about 2 years ago when I was looking for some parts for an AR build. They had parts I was going to buy, BUT I COULD NOT GET ANY HELP from the people who were supposed to be working in the store. In a moment of weakness and boredom I went back into this store Friday March first to find parts for a new build. AGAIN I was TOTALLY IGNORED by the people who were in the store. It just seemed like everyone was sitting around bullshitting. I wasn't even asked if I needed anything after standing at the counter where the AR parts are located for 10 minutes. I finally left disgusted and I will order the parts I need online. If you're planning on going here, I'd think again. Unless you enjoy listening to under educated rednecks ranting about California, how Obama is stealing our 22lr, and how evil Mexicans are, I'd go else where. I bought a FMK AR Pistol, FROM THE OWNER, and was told it was set up for .223/5.56 rounds. I asked at least twice, this was my first gun purchase, and I was very clear about what I wanted. However it was actually a .300 blackout set up, they were nice enough to replace the barrel to the original caliber I wanted. Take it out shooting and less the a hundred rounds in the bolt carrier snapped. That's a pretty big failure, Im just happy no one got hurt. I took it back it to try get my money returned, which they refused. They did put a new bolt in. Get home and put three rounds through, and the lower receiver cracked. Still refuse to return my money, and offer to send the lower back to the manufacturer. It took them twice as long as originally stated and I had to call them everytime, they clearly were not happy I wanted my money back, and seemed to take personal offense at my presence. Also I'd like to mention, Kevin, their gunsmith built the gun I purchased for the ground up. That man is a total moron, and specifically told me inaccurate information regarding gun laws that a ten second Google search will pull up. Don't waste your time. read more

Completely disappointed with this business! I ordered a gun for my husband's birthday june 27th. Special order and paid in full on the 27th. Was told it would be in within a week to a week and a half. It is now 22 days later and the gun is still not in. I have called numerous times and no one can give me any answers. I've had multiple employees tell me they would call me back with answers and no one has called me. I've left messages for the mangers and owners to call me and neither have. Not once did anyone track the gun for me. And nothing has been offered to make the situation right. Completely horrible customer service. They just lost a bunch of customers because of this. read more

The employees very knowledgeable in the handguns we were looking for. Prices competitive to other amours in the state. The addition of an in door range got them the four stars. Having carried a firearm during my career, it was scary a bit watching the indoor shooters in how the held the gun, their stance and overall knowledge of CQB shooting or just recreational shooting. WOW!!! My new favorite gun shop. If you live in the Southern Oregon area, go to Doc Holliday's gun shop in Grants Pass, OR. I called in looking for a Browning Silver Hunter Micro 20ga. Ken was able to find one while I waited on the phone. No other store in the Rogue Valley could get me one and some didn't even try. I was told time and time again... "good luck" or "you ain't gonna find one of those", as well as some other real jackass comments. Some of them even tried to sell me some junker they had in stock. NOT KEN. He just listened while I explained exactly what I wanted. Not only did he find one, but had it there by the end of the week. I got a great gun at a great price too. I thought Doc Holidays was very knowledgeable in their guns and products but be careful with them because they lead me to believe by paying them extra I could get for my gun in two weeks. I didn't I didn't get it for over a month and they try to screw me out of $25. So just be careful if you shop there and make sure your receipt has everything listed on it. read more

You learn a lot about a business when you end up buying the wrong item and need to return it, you see how they stand by there products, and how they value there reputation and customer service. About 3-4 weeks back I purchased a rifle magazine, and upon getting home and checking it out, it simply didn't fit. Well I kept forgetting to bring it back when in town, until yesterday. Handed the gentleman the mag and receipt and Bang! Instant exchange without a moments hesitation. Anything gun related carries a lot of liability issues, but they clearly believed that I had asked for the right item, and a store clerk had mistakenly sold me something else. Mistakes are made, no one ever gets it right 100% of the time. This store is cleverly decorated, the old west theme works well, they have a large selection of products, and they clearly want my business both today and in the future. read more

Great people to deal with and very knowledgeable. The store is set up so well it has a coming effect even. If they don't have it they can get it. Prices are fare and I would support local businesses instead of online because I can see and handle the gun. If it doesn't fit try a different one. Sometimes it takes a while because of all the ridicules new government has put on us but we have to deal with it until we can correct that!!! UNTRUSTWORTHY AND MISLEADING!!! Bought a gun and there was a problem with it Immediately. When I brought the gun back, the "gunsmith" said "no problem" he would get the parts in to fix it and it would be about a week. After a week, I called and was told "still waiting for parts". Another week passed and I was told again, "waiting for parts". Shortly after the second week, I received a call saying the gun was fixed. Arrived at the store only to find the same problem. Gunsmith said, the slide HAS to be pulled back fast and strong, so I did. Same problem. I asked what he did to 'fix' it and he said he "just polished it up". What happened to the parts I waited two weeks for??? The guy used my rounds in the case to test fire the gun and tried to charge me for labor and test fire ammo!!! I left the store and called the gun company who talked me through fixing the gun MYSELF over the phone. The sales staff was nice enough but the customer service was crap. read more
