Great fast service on a Cubs game day. There is plenty of seating even on a Cubs game day. Nonetheless, the food is really tasty and great! Ambiance is great too, no complaints. I ate the Hot Link Hashbrown Sandwich. This is so tasty. The sauce is so good, and the sandwich's overall bite is really great. I added Cholula hot sauce, which makes it more flavorful, yet the sandwich itself is still very tasty. Definitely recommend trying this Hot Link Hashbrown sandwich. [Service/ Fairness Failure] TL/DR - The cashier wasted time, then let two people jump ahead of me in line. I walked in while someone else was ordering. After they ordered, there was some issue with the POS machine and the cashier asked for help from another employee. Instead of one of them ringing me up on the other register, they both focused on the first customer/register. A minute or two passes as they are trying to figure out the issue, then two people walk in and got in line on the wrong side. Neither employees correct them. There are only a couple of us there and very easy to keep track, so I don't think much of it. A couple minutes later they finally decide to use the extra register as well, but they take orders of the people who came in after me letting them skip ahead of me in line. I pause, then I just leave. I'm patient, so waiting for a technical issue is fine. But I will not patronize a business that does not treat customers fairly. No discussion, I'm just out the door. read more

I fear that giving Do-Rite anything less than a five stars will draw ire, the stink eye, and general condemnation from my coworkers. I come to share my opinions, regardless of how colleagues may feel. What I can say for certain is that their French Crullers are truly second to none. My go-to from Dunkin used to be a French Cruller, until Do-Rite 'ruined' me. No hate, just a testament to how fantastic they are. I also had the opportunity to try some other donuts, including some of their cake donuts and a plain glazed. While a cake donut may not be my cup of tea and is thus more difficult to judge, a glazed donut is in my wheelhouse. I appreciate that it isn't overly sweet and is light, airy, and so fresh that it has some bounce-back rather than compacting at the lightest squeeze. On the flip side, while being technically great, they don't make me want to get one again and again the way Kane's Donuts (for example) does. I also had the opportunity to try a breakfast sandwich on one occasion. While I appreciate what they had going on, an error made it much less than spectacular and frankly deterred me from ordering again. The ingredients themselves were just fine, but when very cold cheese is placed on a warm egg, you are left with a cold egg. It didn't really help that the bread was room temperature (if I recall correctly), and not toasted. Finally, there is the matter of the coffee. Before, coffee cost a dollar with a purchase. The coffee was great quality, and a buck is hard to beat. However, they recently went to a system where getting said promo requires joining a text club. Look, I get that this is the way the world works, but I get enough texts and emails; I don't need even more. The result: I make coffee at the office for free and skip the donut while I'm at it. P.S. I have yet to try a chicken sandwich. I am looking forward to it, and hopefully the cheese doesn't lead to cold meat! Final Verdict: Do-Rite does donuts well, and French Crullers really well. For a local chain, they have a respectable product. However, on the other side two things work against them. First is an execution issue leading to a cold breakfast sandwich. Second is a corporate decision to require a text club for the $1 coffee promo. This policy, in fact, was so off-putting that I learned of it and left without buying anything. read more

Do Rite did me rite! On this trip I got the cream cheese danish, Valrhona chocolate cake, & the vegan orange olive oil donuts. As expected, I loved the danish donut. It's a perfectly fluffy yeast donut with plenty of decadent cream cheese frosting on top. If you love cream cheese desserts like I do, you'll be obsessed. The Valrhona was also great. The cake donut was perfect texturally & that chocolate is something else. The combo of the glaze + ganache is bussin for lack of a better word. However, the reason why this visit is 4/5 stars instead of 5 is because the orange olive oil donut was pretty dang dry with not a whole lot of flavor - the orange flavor was barely there. No matter when I visit Do-Rite Donuts they always have a great selection of donuts even when it's the end of the. day and the options are slim. The shop is definitely setup to grab a quick snack but they do have a few tables if you opt dine-in. The staff at this location know how to keep the line going because during game days they make sure the line keeps moving. Ordering items that require them to cook (chicken, breakfast sandwich, etc) will take a little longer. I highly recommend the bullseye donut which has become an instant fave of mine. The raspberry jam in the center compliments the fried dough so well. You also cannot go wrong with any of the classic donuts (old fashioned, sprinkles, etc.) if you aren't feeling adventurous. Can't believe I haven't reviewed Do-Rite previously. This is a spot that we sometimes overlook (to our own detriment), but it always delivers! This morning we got a variety of absolutely stunning donuts, a number of breakfast sandwiches, and some coffee. Although the sandwiches had to travel and weren't 100% fresh, they tasted amazing. Even the second day, we were very impressed. The donuts were also fantastic. From the presentation to the silky texture, both adults and kids were happy campers. We liked how the donuts were slightly less sweet than other options in our area that can sometimes be cloying. I generally like more plain donuts, so the chocolate cake was my favorite. A glass of milk, half and donut and half a bacon breakfast sandwiches just about made my day. Service was fast and facilities were clean when we picked up! The donut flavors sounded really interesting but I also appreciated that they had a chicken sausage breakfast sandwich- breakfast sandwiches are sold all day btw. When I got there I decided to go with the breakfast sandwich. It was piping hot. It came on a warm steamy brioche bun which is how all breakfast sandwiches should be made, thank you. The chicken sausage was a little small for the bun, the egg was HUGE and maybe the biggest thing on the sandwich, but it was hot because they make them to order also. I ordered a small coffee with my sandwich, which is priced at 3.45, but price changes to a dollar if you order a small one with a breakfast Sammy, that's cool. They also offer hash browns with breakfast but I didn't see this until after the fact. After I was done with the sandwich I decided to try the vanilla bean glazed donut. It was a nice big size, not too sweet and it was fluffy, but it was a tiny bit on the dry side, not enough melt in your mouth for me. If I had a microwave to nuke it for a few seconds I'm sure it woulda been perfect. Donuts tend to be priced between 2.75-4.00 so I didn't leave with a few like I thought I would. Not sure I'd go back for a donut but the breakfast sandwich was hitting. read more

I have heard good things about these donuts, so we decided to try them finally! I ordered them delivery and they picked out the 1/2 dozen assortment. My review only can speak for the donuts currently although they offer chicken, breakfast sandwiches, etc. These donuts were amazing!!! Really really fresh and lots of flavor. I was surprised that I really liked pretty much every option. My least favorite if I had to pick was the birthday cake sprinkles donut- just because it had a lot of white icing which isn't my fav. There's not much I need to write for you to know that Do-Rite donuts is hands down one of my favorite places to get gluten free and vegan donuts in the city! The Do-Rite in lake view is the perfect location if you're heading to Wrigley field for a game, or just looking for a quick bite in Lakeview. If you're not familiar with the area, it can be difficult to find parking near the shop, especially when it's game season, but typically you can find parking near the parking garage on the street and run in without any issues. From the few times I've been, they consistently offer 3 gluten free flavors: Birthday Cake, Chocolate, and Cinnamon Sugar. My personal favorite is the birthday cake. Warning! Donuts sell out fast, so I recommend getting there early to get a good selection read more

I love Do-Rite Donuts! All the workers here are so friendly and welcoming. They serve local coffee (dark matter!) and have such a good variety of donut flavors. I had the coconut dream donut. I love coconut and the filling inside was creamy without being too sweet. Also, we happened to be sitting next to a couple of workers who ended up telling us the background of the guy who created Do-Rite! And she gave us a free apple fritter after telling us the apples are from a local farm in Michigan (shout out to Jen!!).
