Came for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with how good this place was. Staff was friendly and helpful. The decor was all over the place but I think it made the shop unique. The food was great; however, make sure you pay in cash. My sandwich was 10.13 without the drink and I clearly put a 3.00 dollar tip which is close to 25%. Well I luckily got a dispute form in the notification saying I left 10.00 tip using my card at this place, was this accurate? It was definitely not, I am for helping out others when in need, but please do not take advantage of other people's money. Almost went to a place very close to this one but didn't because the prices were outrageous. Decided instead on the Do Drop In and man did we luck out!! Not sure where to even start on all the pros..prices were reasonable, service was beyond excellent..very friendly and helpful, great atmosphere with cute games to play while waiting, food was delicious, servings were plentiful and the cherry on top was their homemade ice cream!! Do Drop In was one of the first restaurants I found using Yelp when looking for places to eat around ENMU. From what many people were saying, it seemed like a relaxed sandwich and coffee shop where workers are incredibly friendly. And that's pretty much what it turned out to be. Their menu revolves around their signature sandwiches, although you're able to create your own. They have a variety of sandwiches, salads, and dessert items. The prices are affordable, and if you want to get a mix of items, they always offer a combo meal where you can get 1/2 a sandwich, a bowl of soup, and a drink. I've tried a few of their sandwiches, and always thought the food was pretty good. The strawberry club was quite refreshing, with turkey, Swiss cheese, strawberries, onions, and honey mustard on sourdough. It was pretty simple, and probably something I could put together myself, but it was for a good lunch. I've also tried their popular Green Monster, which has New Mexico's signature green chile in the sandwich. I thought it was okay - I liked the strawberry club more, just because the green chile was a bit too salty for me. Green chile soup came highly recommended by the workers, and I have to admit that it was fairly tasty. The sweet tea was also really good the first time I tried it; when I came back for a second visit, the tea was tasteless, so I opted for soda. Their coffee smells amazing, and the pies look so good. Sadly I never got the chance to indulge in their sweet treats, but I love how friendly everybody is. Even with quite a few tables, the place gets pretty busy during the lunch rush hour so be prepared! tl;dr - Comfort food at a decent price - sandwiches and soups won't disappoint if you're too lazy or busy to whip up something for yourself. We ordered three sandwiches and three coffee drinks. Total was $23! So reasonable when considering that we spend that much on just three DRINKS at Starbucks. Ha! When they were at their old location, they used to have live bands come in a lot- that was when I first ate there. I've been hooked ever since. Their new location is very homey- there's a giant fireplace in middle of what I can only call the lounge, with a coffee bar at the back. They even have board games, puzzles, and books for families with kids. My favorite sandwich is the Green Monster- turkey, avocado, green chile... I haven't tried many of their other sandwiches, but I haven't been let down with the ones I have. If you're passing through Portales and need a good place to eat, you won't find anything better.
