Friends took us here, first time here so not knowing what to expect. Facility is decorated nice, welcoming country decor. No one at the front directing or a greeting so glad my friends gave instructions. Wife and I split a Sheriff Parker burger which was ok, all love led to be double patty but was able to get just one. Burger looked good on paper but was not , even with all the items it had notate and was cold. It took more time than it should and my buddy had to go check. Deserts there liked good but did not have one. Might be a good place for breakfast or lunch but I'd skip it for dinner. read more

I've tried to refrain from making this review because I love the food here so much, however, the service never seems to be up to par. There has been on multiple occasions that when I come up to the order counter, that I am met with a somewhat unapproachable greeting. Just this morning I come up to order, have to wait for the employee to finish their text before I'm acknowledged. On another occasion, I was the only customer in the restaurant and ordered a coffee and breakfast burrito. The burrito arrived to my table roughly 5 minutes before the drink was ready. I prefer to support local businesses and am okay with price increases on their food since it is delicious, but when the service is consistently mediocre at best, it's hard to justify coming back. read more

First timer. Stopped into the cafe this evening around 6 for a quick bite after the picture and reviews this place left us wanting to come and try it out. Walking in the door you have the arcade games (most of the games run down and broken) not the biggest deal but the inches of dust under the game area really made me wonder what the rest of the place looked like the further we got in. Most of the tables were taken and the ones that weren't were not cleaned, they were not overly busy you would think that in these times they would pay more attention to the disinfecting tables between each guest. Great little find in Portales! From the moment I walked in, the smiles kept coming and so did the great coffee and food. Our server highly recommended the burger but I opted for the Cobb instead...due to a long drive I had that afternoon. I didn't want to get hit too hard with a "Burger-Coma" whilst driving country side for 3 hours...been there done that.... Not fun. Very disappointed in what used to be a pleasant experience. Our counter greeter was as warm as our food. The steamer was not steamy...it was a warmee. There was no one in line, and 2 tables. Our food was cold upon arrival , and it took 18 minutes to create 2 cold breakfast sandwiches. The cheese was cold the eggs were cold...there was no meat with request for pepper jack instead. I request a reheat...which I hate to do but cold eggs are gross.this resulted in attitude and and a returned plate with yet no temperature adjustment. ( Disclaimer *-if there is no heat coming from the food, I would call this a fail. The plate was not warm ) I went and requested to-go. Loved the legal themed sandwiches. Tasty and original. A pastrami sandwich or turkey sandwich is food I can make at home so I don't usually gush about such food. There are times I like the deli/sandwich shop experience when sandwiches are made better. That is what this eatery does for me. It is also hard to find a place that makes a Cuban sandwich anywhere in New Mexico but they have that option here. Can't wait to try all the sandwiches. Lemon bars are to die for. Coffee and cold brew is affordable and tastes just fine. The seating area is cozy and interesting too. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Not sure if it is part of the restaurant but sharing the space is an arcade area and a country store. There are fun arcade games for families and kids. There is a small shop with locally made, mostly farm theme, items and souvenirs. The natural soaps smell pretty good. Odd tip but may be useful for passerbys is that the bathrooms are probably the cleanest in town. read more

The machines to play on have not been maintaine. Less than half actually work and if they do it's less than a minut. The floors are extremely dirty. The burgers now come with no side and about the size of a mcds small fry. Thats a joke considering you pay $12-$15. This place used to be worthwhil. Sadly now it's not. read more

Traveling through NM to Tx and found this place on yelp, decided to stop after reading the menu, love the sandwich names! And the other reviews. Walked in to a live band playing which was really nice after hours of driving. It's a real home town, coffee house/ lunch place with a great owner than coms around to every table to make sure your happy. I stopped here for lunch and was looking for something that I could eat while following the strict keto guidelines. This restaurant did have a few things that I could enjoy. The unbun was an option which is a keto and Paleo bun that you could have instead of the other bread options. Menu selection was good. Customer service was super amazing. Staff were very friendly. Location was clean. Price of my sandwich kinda pricey but was due to the special bread that I think has to be ordered online. So I'm not fussing to much. I come in here all the time to get snacks after work and a little pick me up. The staff is friendly and will help explain anything that you need. They also bake bread and I believe will do cakes too.
