Stopped for the pie. We had a piece of whisky chocolate chip pecan and one piece green chili apple. Both with ice cream . I liked the green chili apple better, and I honestly think it's the crust that makes these pies special. We had to wait quite a while for service-- only one waitress that day. It was OK but if you're traveling consider the stop might take a little while. Attached gift shop is nothing unique. Overall a good stop for a pie break in this Route 66 classic. read more

Huge burgers! We stopped by this Route 66 themed cafe located at the midpoint of Route 66 between Chicago IL and Santa Monica CA. We were seated right away, there were only a few people in the restaurant. Our server took our order, we all ordered burgers. It took a while for the food to come out, but it was worth the wait. The burgers were large and juicy. I had the Route 66 which is a double burger with 2/3 lb of meat. I did not walk away Hungry. There is a nice souvenir store attached with really good prices on Route 66 apparel and trinkets. The owner was great and talked to us a lot during our visit. The place is quite dated with really small restrooms however, We would recommend you check it out if you are in the area. read more

We stopped for dessert and the hostess was delightful to chat with while on our Route 66 journey. The pie looked and tasted delicious. I had the Tennessee whiskey, pecan chocolate pie and it was so flavorful. My husband had the chocolate cream pie. The crust was flakey and light. Loved it! read more

Located right on the midpoint line for Route 66, the cafe itself is cute, with plenty of vintage memorabilia. I trust that the other reviewers who stated the food is good are correct. I will never know because I never got to enjoy it. Stopped by the cafe mid-morning. There were plenty of open tables. They may have been short on staff, but only 5 tables were being occupied. The large party of 5 and another party in the corner booth left while I was waiting. I stood around for an uncomfortable amount of time, with waitresses walking past me without making eye contact or acknowledging me. Finally, one of them did and told me to sit wherever I'd like, and made some remark about there only being 2 of them but they'd be happy to serve me and my friend. I was still cheerful at the time and the unfriendly tone caught me off guard. We picked a booth - this booth and 3 other tables were unoccupied but hadn't been cleaned just yet. Once again sat there for some time with no one acknowledging us. We then watched one of the waitresses clean up an unoccupied table, while we sat at our booth full of dirty dishes. After she was done, she came back out and started tending to another unoccupied table. By then we had been waiting for about a half hour, I'm not sure why they would choose to clean tables where no one is sitting instead of a table with customers waiting. It was more than enough food between the three of us. + Midpoint Burger - "Double patty 2/3-pound fresh Angus burger served with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard, mayo and ketchup. ($11.50). Add cheese $.50, green chile or jalapeño $1.00, snd/or bacon $2.00. Cooked medium. Served with your choice of individual sized bagged chips which they will bring a basket filed with an assortment of options to the table before your burger is served. Both of my girls chose Funyuns. If you want to experience true hospitality, you have to stop here. Check or call to see if they are open before making the special stop. If you are lucky and can stop by when they are open - just walk on in and they will let you take all the pictures you want. Be sure to buy some souvenirs, a Mexican coke cola, get some food, and get some pie before continuing on Route 66. What to eat? Ask the servers for their recommendations. The BLT and the bologna sandwiches are the best. These are high quality bologna (look & tastes more like good ham). I'd have to rate this one two different ways, which is actually difficult. One for the restaurant, one for, well, the geographical spot. First I'll do the latter: I geek out bigtime when I'm in a special geographical location. In this case, this is literally the midpoint for old Route 66. There's a special sign across the road from the diner that shows that you are halfway between Los Angeles and Chicago. The sign does raise a lot of questions. First off, Los Angeles was the original western terminus for Route 66 until the late 1930s. Since then it has been in Santa Monica, California. Surprisingly, a lot of people don't question it that much but historians have came to the consensus that Adrian is indeed the midpoint for the Mother Road. The sign is a great selfie spot and there's a line painted in the road that shows the Midpoint. As for the restaurant, the food wasn't that great. I had a Route 66 burger (big one!) with chips (they don't serve anything fried). For dessert, their specialty, the Ugly Crust Pie, or close to the Pecan Pie. I wasn't ready to try the Green Chile Apple Pie! Despite of how I feel about the food, they do deserve any break they can, as they are one of many mom-and-pop businesses that have struggled bigtime during the pandemic. The restaurant's decor has lots of great memorabilia on the wall, and of course it takes great pride in its status as the Route 66 midpoint. They also get extra points for its giftshop, which is actually huge. The selection is unreal; they even have a Route 66 guitar! Definitely plan on spending $$$ on souvenirs if you can. read more

The sausage and gravy biscuits were delicious. Nice serving. Very friendly staff. They were making fresh pies that morning so we didn't experience firsthand but we were able to taste test the coconut cream pie filling for Brenda. It was really good. After meeting up with the girls in Amarillo, my wife wanted to check out the novelty Midpoint Cafe in Adrian, TX, considered the midpoint of historic Route 66 which stretches out from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA. She read some good reviews so why not. After a few obligatory pictures outside, we made our way inside and were seated promptly. One of the ladies went over the pie selections. After perusing the menu, the youngest ordered a root beer float, her sister ordered the Black bean burger which came with potato chips and my wife ordered their Fried Bologna sandwich which also came with chips. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered a slice of their Tennessee whiskey pecan pie. The server asked me if I wanted it warmed up and I said "Sure!" I ordered coffee with my pie. The youngest got her float fairly quickly (although it's just A&W root beer in a can and not from a soda fountain...so not real nostalgic). The place had maybe 7 or 8 tables occupied when we were seated and had 2 servers...which apparently wasn't enough as service was excruciatingly slow. It must've taken 30 minutes before the burger and Bologna sandwich were served. I had to call out to the back to remind them about the pie I ordered...arguably the quickest item to be served out of our order. Of course it wasn't warmed up. I also had to remind the haggard server that chips that came with the burger and sandwich were not served. All in all, a very disappointing meal. While the pie and the fried Bologna sandwich had good flavors, the slow and inattentive service is a lasting memory. Go for the pictures...don't stay for the food. read more

We had to stop here in Adrian, Texas as it is the halfway point on the old route 66! There isn't a lot here, but what is here is very useful like the little motel and the Mid-Point Cafe. We stopped to have breakfast here and there are some photo opportunities right here you can take advantage of! There is an old truck right outside the cafe that makes for great photos as well as a line painted across the old Route 66 Highway right in front of the cafe. There are signs marking such and a photo op for that too! The Mid-Point Cafe had a nice little gift shop that had many Route 66 items for sale for all ages too!! And last but not least, the breakfast here was really good!!! I had two eggs sunny side up with hash browns and gravy and pan sausage with toast. Everyone left here full and happy! The people were very friendly, patient, and helpful too! The cage had a very nice 50's ambience with the old aluminum and Formica tables from the 50's era in yellows and red's. Found this place and thought it would be a fun place to take my dad since he's a huge Route 66 guy. Read previous reviews stating that the service was very poor and slow. Went in and there were multiple people who were just sitting there with noting on their tables. Waited about 10 minutes and the girl behind the counter seemed to be taking her time with someone else and chit-chatting. Never once acknowledged us. It was all older white people that seemed to have a staring problem. My husband and his friend whom are hispanic were asked by someone to move away from the table, though they weren't even close. Would definitely not recommend this place unless you're old and white. #merica read more
