The pie coming out of the kitchen looked really good. Next visit, we'll split a burger and chips and save room to share a piece of pie. The service was nice and the restrooms were clean. The older lady at the counter was not welcoming when I came inside. Maybe because it was almost closing time? But there were other patrons there as well. At least not at first. It took me sharing a joke with her and reaching out to her initially to receive better customer service. I didn't buy much. Just $9.20 for a magnet and a sticker. Was able to pay cash. And picked up some free reading material. Side street parking was available. When in Tucumcari, lower your standards.

PONCHO'S! You might call them Baja hoodies, but growing up surfing the southern CA beaches our crew called them ponchos. A reg staple from our trips to Tijuana, Mexico. Since moving to Nor Cal, they've been hard to come by & we were delighted to find, on our trip to Nebraska last year, many truck stops carry them. So when our daughter asked us to pick one up for her during this trip we thought it would be an easy task. Not so. All the wasted time spent searching out post cards & ponchos, we'd already given up. Enter Tee Pee Curios! Ponchos galore!! But wait, there's more! Every corner of this shop has a treasure waiting to be discovered. We spent over an hour oo-ing & aah-ing & "look at this!"-ing.
