Lodi DMV suffers from the same problems most other CA DMVs suffer from. So you can expect some workers to be rude, long wait times, and generally a hard time getting a clear and straight answer to your questions. I will say this location is on the cleaner side for a DMV. But here is the BIG issue I had on my last visit. Security doesn't allow standing while waiting!? Excuse me? I went on a cold winter day that was about 45 degrees outside. I didn't want to stand outside in the cold, but also didn't want to sit in a crowded seating area where there was clearly sick people who were coughing, sneezing, and sniffling everywhere. Hey Security, this isn't the hottest local nightclub on a Friday night. This is a local DMV. People don't want to be there. They probably HAVE TO BE THERE. And like me, I literally wasn't allowed to do what I needed to do online. So you are forcing people into long wait times and now telling them HOW they must wait? That is crazy work! Do better Lodi DMV. read more

I just wanted to update my review because it's been 10 years since I reviewed this DMV but in my opinion it still gets four stars. I have been coming to this location since it was built and I understand that it's the DMV and it can be slow and frustrating but I think they do a very good job here. I needed to renew my driver's license and I have been trying to get an appointment online but they are weeks out. I'm in a hurry so I tried their new online option of getting in line before you actually get to the DMV and I want people to know about this because it was super helpful to me. It's the first week of September 2025, but the earliest appointment I could get at this location was the last week of September 2025. So I opted to use their "get in line now" option and it was super easy for me to get everything done quickly. I got in line digitally around 11:00 a.m. and was 37th in line I believe . Just after 1:00 p.m. I was 10th in line, so I got in my car and drove over to the DMV. Although there was a line out the front of the door as usual, there was still plenty of parking and by the time I walked through the doors I was fourth in line. The gentleman at the front was having difficulty explaining to people that they are no longer physically checking anyone in and that people need to check in digitally. I felt bad for him because he was really overwhelmed. However, I was able to find a seat and wait about 10 minutes to be called. It really stream lined the whole process. I was able to pay my fees, take my eye exam and get a new photo in less than 20 minutes after being called. All in all I was only gone from home about an hour for the entire process. I'm sure this location could do with more employees, just like any other DMV could, but I really feel they do the best job they can trying to get people through as quickly as possible and I appreciate it. read more

Completely dog shit worst dmv possible, went in with the CORRECT appointment to do my behind the wheel, the lady sits there and tells me "you didn't make a appointment" I then shown here 8 screen shots plus number text and a dmv 10 minute early code, once she seen it she refused to help me knowing she was wrong, honestly go to Stockton or somewhere else cuz Lodi has always been the same, not only that but they clearly judge you off your looks, racist workers, only a few Have respect and dignity. read more

Customer service the workers there are extremely rude and unprofessional. If they are so disgruntled with their jobs they should seek new ones and shame on the supervisors for letting them treat people this way. From the time I walked in security guard rude Indian lady rude the final person that I was with I asked her how her morning was going she said I'm this close to snapping. Horrible experience and it wasn't even busy there was maybe 5 customer a little after 8:00 am read more

I had a good experience. The long line outside went pretty fast. Once inside, the agents were friendly at each counter. Did not sit too long to get called up. I got there at 4pm and they close at 5pm. For a DL renewal (paperwork, picture and all), I was done before they closed. read more

This is the best DMV location. I waited in line for about 15 minutes then got in and out within 5 minutes of speaking to the clerk. They are very fast and efficient! Got everything I needed with no hassle! read more

A big thank you to the kind security officer who helped me with the lobby kiosk this morning. Another reason this is a great DMV office.

Came in to bring my brother to take his behind the wheel test. It was my first time here. I wasn't very fond of it. For starters.. smaller DMV I've ever encountered. No 6ft distance anything. It's so compact. I was uncomfortable. Not to mention very packed when we entered. Luckily my brother had an appointment! We still waited like 15 mins in line because they decided to take 4 non appointment people before us, even tho we were first in appointment line. Igs behind the wheel drivers can only go to one desk. That lady was busy with another lady for a while. Then as we're in line my brother tells me how he doesn't have his permit or ID. I'm like bruh foreal!? So he texted our other brother to take a picture of both items and hopefully they'd accept that.. but you know how them DMV employees be. Thankfully we got a cool lady. She accepted it. We drove car around and I hoped out with my daughter and waited for him to go. He got a lady instructor who ofc had no smile on her face just looked mad but I know that's how they have to be.. they like to make you feel nervous!! Lol. Y'ALL MY BROTHER LITERALLY HIT GAS WHEN PULLED OFF & PARKED IN 2 SPACES AT THE END OF THE TEST.. idk how she passed him. But aye he's licensed. Please beware of my little brother in these streets! JKJK He's a safe driver! I probably wouldn't come back to this location I like the Stockton location and I'm always in & out! read more

The entire DMV System needs a major overhaul. I needed a copy of my boat registration and it was NOT available online, at the kiosk or on the website. To the dreadful DMV ...I waited 45 minutes to get a number then another 1.5 hours to get called to pay $15 dollars in 3 minutes for a replacement registration. Everyone should have an account with all their vehicles. Where they can log in and pay registration, get a copy, non op, transfer etc and log off. They wouldn't need the office. Such a scam read more

I would never come to this DMV location again. Was here Friday waited 3 hours. Never got seen cause I had other plans I had to go to. Today can't even stand in the fucking building and been here almost 3 hours again despite getting here when they OPENED!!!! I'd give minus stars if I could. read more

I had an appointment but still had to wait in line. The line went quite fast. I waited only about 10 minutes past my appointment time. The agent was quick and helpful. I waited in a long line for my photo where it says "do not wait in this area". :) It went fast though. When I left my front passenger tire went flat. I found out later that it had been deliberately stabbed. I filed a police report but only got a case number. It was vandalism probably because I have a Tesla. It cost $500 to replace and I am pretty upset about it. The police have not contacted me. So it is a week later and I suppose they will do nothing about it. The DMV probably has good video of their parking lot and I kept the tire as evidence. read more

Passed my license test here ! The lady who was testing me was super patient , calm and sweet, I wish I could have gotten her name , incredible person she was . I'd suggest anyone to come here to take the test , super fast and easy , usually takes about a 4 min drive and you're done ! Also, their was an older white woman I asked her if i could change my license picture and she didn't hesitate!! Amazing dmv ! Tips I would give if you want to pass the license test is always look at your blind spots, look over your shoulder, don't go over or under the speed limit , brake smoothly , remember during the test their will be an unprotected light, cars going straight have the right away and when they pass you can go, scan your surroundings and lastly learn to park near the curb and back up :) Goodluck everyone! read more

Got here at 6:52 am and we were the third car (the first being a worker who was opening the gate). Naveed was kind enough to open the doors about 5 minutes before open which I appreciated, it was a little chilly. Accompanied my sister so that she could renew her disability placard. Naveed also happened to help us at the counter. He was quick to process what we needed. We were in and out in less then 7 minutes. DMV's are always busy open to close so if you're unable to get here early.. end up having to wait... don't be a Karen like the lady behind us huffing and puffing when the wait ISN'T bad at all. Don't be impatient. Be kind. Be patient. Everyone is doing their best. read more

Dmv office and the inside staff were excellent but.... one of the driver license instructors is super RUDE!! She doesn't smile, put down my niece and made her feel like a total loser and almost brought her to tears. We rescheduled a few days later and my niece passed with what the instructor said only -3 points. If you get Daniela ask to wait for the next instructor. My niece had beed driving with her mom and I for about 5 months prior to taking her test and always did pretty well. We all thought she was ready and she was! read more

In the world of DMV's, this place runs like a well oiled machine. The line system is streamlined, the staff are friendly and the wait is seriously not bad even at peak times. No complaints! I even found parking in the lot all three visits! I highly recommend this location. Helpful hint: The location is tucked away and sometimes hard to find if its your first time. From Kettleman, pass Starbucks on the left, go to the next light and go left. Pass 2 industrial buildings on the right and you will arrive at the DMV. read more

THE FACILITY IS CLOSED, DO NOT GO!! I am pretty upset with them right now! I made an appointment online with them about 3 weeks ago. We have been waiting to get to the date to go in. They have sent us reminder emails of our appointment and even a voicemail reminder. We went today, about 25 minutes before our appointment time, and they are CLOSED! Nothing online tells us about this, no email to tell us, or even cancel the appointment! Wow! Can not believe this! There is absolutely no reason they couldn't of told us, so we could try another DMV! So very upset right now! No idea for how long or when it is going to re-open, or if they are! read more

I would rate the Lodi DMV 3.5 stars. I came to renew my driver's license, get a REAL CA license, and a temporary driver's license (which is a piece of paper given after you take your new driver's license picture - Say CHEESE!). I didn't have an appt., so the long wait was expected. When I arrived at 1:30 p.m. on a Friday yesterday, the line was wrapped around the building. I liked how there was a staff member who came around and verified which service you came in for and checked if you had the appropriate documents. She was so friendly! I heard her say that she was new to another person in line. There were also taped "X's" on the ground for social distancing while waiting in line. Just an FYI for folks coming in to make a REAL CA ID or a REAL CA driver's license; you'll want to bring proof of identity, so I brought my U.S. passport, your actual Social Security card, and (2) documents showing proof of residency, so I brought a two different types of tax documents. You also have to fill out an application online and will be given a confirmation #. It takes about 10 minutes to complete. If you weren't aware of this, I'm sure the staff member will let you know and you can complete it while in line. It costs $37 to renew your driver's license, but the card reader charges an extra 2 and something %, so I recommend to bring cash. Hey, every penny in your pocket saved is a win to me! Two hours later, I was out the door with a temporary license in hand. I can't wait to receive my new REAL CA driver's license with my new pic! The reason why I did not give this place a solid 4 stars is because one of the staff members did not wear his mask correctly. It wasn't pulled up to cover his nose. It was as if he wasn't even wearing it because the mask was below his chin. If you're wearing a face mask and it's requirement to enter a facility, then one should wear it appropriately the entire time, especially if you're staff. I never saw him wear it where it covered his nose. read more

We all know the negative stereotype of the DMV so I'd like to leave a positive review. Firstly, I believe the lady that helped me was Dell (not sure if I got that exactly right) but, I came in to finish up a test I ran out of time for on a previous day and realistically she could have just processed it, sent me to testing, and I would have gone about my day not realizing there was a mistake somewhere along the lines (not from her) and my class B would have been dropped. Fortunately for me, she questioned it and did all the leg work to get it fixed! read more

YOU FUCKING BITCHES DESERVES 0 STAR. The front lady was giving hella attitude and I did told them I'm checking in to take my permit test. Wait 30 minutes to the window and the guy tell me their card machine is not working?? Like u could've tell me, so I don't gotta waste my time. read more

Finally after 3 visits someone listened to us and was able to correct an error with my registration. Always helpful, always professional. Lobby is clean. Wait time is better if you can make an appointment or check in online with their "get in line" option. Parking can be limited, but you can always park on the street. I found Wednesdays before noon to be slightly less busy. read more

Brittany, who was working at the front reception, and the other women wearing a security guard uniform made the whole process a lot more smooth. I didn't have my registration and don't realize I needed my car to get my car registered from out of state but I was able to have my mom go get both to get my car registered. Brittany really made what could've been a headache into a pleasant experience. The lady taking photos made sure I wasn't leaning due to a medical condition. She was very nice too. So we're the ladies at windows 5 and 6. Sorry I didn't get names for the rest of the staff. read more

Ok, had to post had a great experience here. I know that sounds crazy. I went on a busy friday. Sure there was a one hour wait, but that's to be expected. Honestly they were organized and I met a few people that were friendly and eager to engage in good conversation. Very helpful. Then... I go and forget my glasses. These people were able to remember who I was, look my info up and call me to let me know they would hold them. Thank you so much. read more

I came here during the week hopefully to avoid the long lines in Sacramento. I mistakenly came during lunch time so the wait was still 2 hours. While I was hoping for less of a wait time I am pretty certain it was still far less than Sacramento DMV. I loved their wait system and how you are given a letter/number and they take your phone number down so they text you when you are close to being called. I was able to leave for an hour and a half and visit a friend who lives in Lodi and come back right when I was being called. The staff I dealt with that day was extremely friendly and helpful. I can only imagine how stressful and hectic working there can be considering the amount of people that come in and out of the building and the workload involved. I appreciated the service I received and will definitely consider coming back to get my REAL ID soon. read more

I would much rather visit this DMV that the one in Stockton. I checked on line to see when appointments were available. Can you believe like three weeks out? yikes! So we went on a walk-in basis. It really was not that busy today. The front help desk only had one person in line. They checked our paperwork and gave us a number. The number system that they use is actually pretty efficient, considering... The employees were crankin'...going through the numbers rather fast. Total wait time was probably close to 30 minutes. Not too bad for a DMV...and to pass the time, I brought my new iphone to play with! :) Why are all DMV's so dinky and small? Do you see any other state office with 100 people waiting, stuffed in a 30' X 30' area? Even the welfare office has a HUGE building?!?! What's up with that? Does DMV not bring in enough revenue for the state to build new offices? "Take a number" read more

I love love love going to the DMV. Not just any old DMV. This one. Been coming here for over 20 years. I do prefer taking care of registration issues at AAA. But this office has made 100% in wait improvements and appointments. Minus half a star for still not having awnings outside the building... you see when it is raining, you will get an immediate downpour when exiting the building. Minus another half star for lack of parking. read more

I went in to this DMV a few days ago and had no appointment, but was able to stand in the disabled line. I only needed to renew my placard. I arrived around 12:30 PM and was shocked that there were quite a few parking places available. As I entered the building there was no more than 10 people in the regular line either. Plus they were serving bottles of water. Most likely since it was triple digits that day. I must say I saw quite a few improvements since I last visited 6 months ago...My wait was no more than 40 minutes. Keep up the good work!!! read more

Nice new facility, but poor line arrangement for non-appointments. Most DMVs rotate service between non-appointments and appointments, this one first serves ALL of the people in the appointment line, and then services the non-appointment individuals. That's a bit ridiculous. But, that's how it is at every DMV Appointments made online are served VERY quickly! Always do that if you can. read more
