I stopped by the DMV at Fullerton to renew my vehicle registration in person since I needed to perform smog on my vehicle. The line was outside the door thirty minutes before closing time. The line to check in moved quickly but there employees that don't have the patience to work here. I understand people try to move as quickly as possible but if you are frustrated you have to look for another job. The check in for me was quickly but once at the window I was going to pay with Apple Pay. Unfortunately there credit card system is not properly working causing an inconvenience for me to pay my registration. I usually carry my card everywhere but today I forgot it. The employee at the window was nice throughout the process. So as a reminder make sure you have your DMV paper work in hand and your credit card as well. There are restroom inside open for the public. Sitting area is smaller in this location and employees are strict and don't let people stand in some areas. read more

I arrived at the dmv around 1:00 to take my written permit test and didn't leave until 5pm. Once i finally got called on they told me permit test end at 4:30. THERE SHOULD BE SIGNS. Lady at the front counter was definitely drunk, slurring all her words. Everyone hates their job and can't hide it. Takes forever since they don't offer any type of help online, also sucks that nobody is there to help you on the phone, you still have to wait a couple hours with an appointment. As someone with a disability, I felt I was treated with a lack of empathy and respect. My disability is not as apparent as someone were in wheelchair. I shouldn't leave feeling like I was being judged. I explained to the clerk that my vehicle registration was due and that I had encountered issues with the DMVnow kiosk during the night prior's system-wide outage. Unfortunately, she did not seem to listen. When I provided my license plate number, she confirmed that it was "paid online." I clarified that the payment was made through the DMVnow kiosk, not online, but this did not seem to register with her. I told her my registration is due "today" and I'm blocked from trying to make another payment. The clerk's demeanor was dismissive; she spoke condescendingly to me while remaining seated throughout our interaction. Despite my efforts to communicate that I was in a difficult situation and fully understood her instructions, she continued to speak down to me. She began to annunciate every word, as if I didn't understand English. I asked if I could pay again to receive my registration sticker, and she handed me a half sheet of paper with my license plate number written and stamped on it. She informed me that my payment was received last night and advised me to return if I did not receive my sticker within 30 days. Guess what, upon my return from DMV, I receive a text from DMVnow stating my transaction did not go through and is being refunded. read more

Honestly I thought I was going to wait for hours but it was super quick. I didn't make and appointment or anything. I showed up. Told them what I needed to do. They gave me a number and told me they would text me. I ate my ice cream in the car and when I was finished. It was time for me to walk in. Second time I used this Fullerton DMV site. I came on a Tuesday because I did my Real ID driver's license on line but was unable to get an on line appointment within 30 miles of this location. I got in line for walk up appointments at 7:13am. They start processing folks at 7:30am so at 8am you're ready to go. Since I did everything on-line already, I was told go directly to line at the window where there was one person being serviced. The DMV representative processed and completed my Real Id and I was out the door at 8:07am! Doing what I did on line first, getting in line early and going Tuesday or Thursday is your best bet to get in and out fast. Awesome service with the right timing! read more

Recently got the notice for the dreaded in person license renewal but this DMV made it as painless as possible. This sounds crazy but if you prepare (make an appointment, fill out the online form they tell you to), a trip to the DMV for a DL renewal isn't that bad. Inside was nice and clean and the line was moving pretty fast with someone being called every 10-20 secs. The three employees I spoke to were all competent and polite and got me through the process pretty fast. Only negative was the lack of seating. I had to stand the entire hour I was there. read more

Maurice is an amazing instructor! It helped my dad with his driving test, my dad was very nervous but Maurice was calm & nice which helped my dad become relaxed. My dad ended up passing & got his license back (he had a suspended license)! He came a couple weeks before & had instructor by the name Janet. She had a horrible way of communicating & was acting superior over my dad. She has a very bad tone & she is not personable at all! Please try to avoid Janet, I think she hates people. This woman should be working in a cubicle far far far away from people, just sad. read more

6/18: Short and fat DMV lady in the vehicle inspection area wearing sunglasses and a ball cap this afternoon (~3:30pm) had a huge ego and couldn't mind her own business or accept that she was wrong. AFTER my request had already been approved she made it her business to come over and tell me I couldn't do what I was trying to do. She wasn't even the person helping me out.. Then when I proceeded to show her the policy, she immediately walked away while still saying "you can't do that." Who the 'F' is this broad and why isn't she helping someone else out instead of being nosy and annoying. I need to file a complain against this troll since she was super unprofessional, uninformed, and wasting everyone's time! read more

The DMV sucks, but the security guard at this one is so kind and helpful that I'm giving this location 5 stars. I had no appointment because I paid for my registration, it said it was sent out, but I never received it. I tried using the website's chat prompts but it didn't answer my question and just lead me in circles. I waited briefly in the non-appointment line and explained to the DMV employee that I recently moved and updated my address online, waited two weeks, then paid for my registration once I saw my address was updated in the system. She said if I needed to come back in a month if I still didn't receive it (it was two weeks at the time). It's been a month and I still have not received my registration. It's a hassle to go back, but they said the state is behind in sending things out. This location has ample parking and for a non-appointment I waited about an hour to update my drivers license. It's not the worse DMV I've been to, but the security guard working the door is actively trying to make sure everyone gets to where they need to go. read more

i waited on a line outside for about an hour visiting with people in back of me. so it went faster. you first have to go to a window to explain why you're @ dmv. i needed to get a real id license. i started to do everything online. therefore it was easy & fast. i was given a number & waited to be called. i went to window #2, where anu was there to assist me with my information. we completed everything, paying & signature. i the was told to go to photo #2 to have a picture. i immediately asked to make sure my picture was good; which i saw. everything took about 1 1/2hrs. & i was done. anu was great; she was attentive, polite & professional. read more

There was minimal wait time, and service was easy. I spent less than 20 minute from the time I arrived to the time I finished getting my photo taken. When asking staff for assistance or help, they have an attitude-since they are unionized, the staff doesn't care to do their job and or perform the daily task to the best of thier ability-since it is VERY difficult to get fired once unionized. I have been coming to this location for about two decades, sure some days have been slow and some days have been fast, some I had appointments and some days I had to wait in the stand by queue, all of that aside, every visit has been nothing but professional, courteous, and helpful. My visits ranged from updating licenses and registration to fixing complicated issues, like returning from out of state and having to sign up for new license and registration again after a clerical error from an out of state DMV office. The DMV does what it needs to do, and it helps to plan ahead when you might wait a while, like brining a book, listening to podcasts is a great way to productively past the time. read more

The DMV. It's dreadful. Just thinking about waiting in line and wasting your day hoping that you can get in and out as soon as possible. Not to mention seeing all the young drivers getting their licenses! Anyways- I came in on a Friday morning to get my Real ID. Yeah - it's not mandatory until 2023 but now is the time. Helpful hints - do as much as you can online. Upload your documents and bring those documents with you. Once you finish uploading and completing as much as you can, you will be able to make an appointment for a Real ID - you literally can't make an appointment for it unless you fill out the application. Once you get it, you can go ahead (bring everything) and go wait in the Red Line on the left side (appointment line) This is during COVID times but I assume it's going to be consistent. At check -in, they ask what you're there for and they need to see the confirmation code that you get because of filling out the online app. You then go inside, wait in line to get assigned a window. This line may look long but it moves fast as there were at least four peple helping the single line. Once you check in officially - they will give you a number to look out for on the television. And you basically wait and sit until your number is called- once they call you - go to that window, get everything sorted out and pay your fee. For the Real ID, you get a redo for photos. Then you'll have to sit after your photo and get called to finalize everything - you don't get a number for this as they just call to the group to see who just got their photo taken. Then you go up and they literally just hand you a paper license and you are good to go!! It took me 45 minutes from standing in line to getting to my car. It wasn't as dreadful as I remember and the air conditioning was great. I was pleasantly surprised with the way things flowed and it wasn't stressful. I usually avoid the DMV like the plague, or the pandemic. I know I have needed to go back after I lost my real ID literally 2 weeks after I got it. I had some time to kill so I walked over to the DMV and see if I could knock it out. I am usually fortunate and someone I know usually can help me and zip me right through but today wasn't the day. Actually it wasn't too bad, I knocked everything out in an hour or less. It could have been faster but my fault for sitting down and not going to where I needed to go. The security guard at this location is extremely rude. Doesn't know the difference between yes and no (be careful ladies). I sent my wife in here to pick up a simple handbook and he proceeded to yell at my wife and tell her she needed to go on the "other side" for some reason she wasn't able to go through those doors until he felt enough time had passed by from the initial argument he initiated to swallow his horrible attitude and just suck it up and let her in, as for the DMV they need to provide better customer service as well as a security guard/ company that is actually there to help not make things worse!! read more

Today and yesterday me and my husband came to this location , service was fast, all gender bathroom was big and clean, staff I dealed with were friendly kind caring , enough chairs to sit and wait, AC was on, young security guy helped me with any question I had, very caring polite , overall we got what we needed despite the glitch in computerized system bug by Grace of Lord I was able to help my husband to get whatever needed done , I was able to knit a little and read a magazine while waiting , people were all busy as always getting ends meet. Children were so cute, kind caring happy . I used my lucky smile and charm and all went well. The lady who helped me at the counter was super sweet and friendly! Thank you! # Mask is required # Went there without appointment in the afternoon. Line moved pretty fast. Before entering the DMV office, They will check your temperature and ask the purpose of coming. #For REAL ID application, to save time, do recommend to #UPLOAD the documents online first, #MUST BRING THE CONFIRMATION CODE( Very Import) #MUST BRING The ORIGINAL copy of documents needed! # PREPARE enough cash ($38 for REAL ID) or Debit card / payment that only accepted by DMV. It would be great to make an appointment first but if you dont they still let you in! Had a simple eye test ( read the eye exam chart). And requested to remove mask/ glasses when a photo is taken. Lastly they issued me a temporary driver license. Overall it took about an hour for the whole process without appointment. Pretty good experience! Big Thank you to all the DMV staffs! Admittedly, I have not been to a DMV Office in years and years. I had to go to this location to take care of a couple bigger issues. I was really stressing and dreading this visit, as my head kept playing old tapes of an all day affair to take care of business here. Wow, was I surprised... I was in and out in about 45 minutes!!! Granted I did have an appointment. They actually honor the appointment times! I was also anxious about parking, which turned out to be a breeze! I was greeted at the door by a gatekeeper, whom made sure I was aware of the necessary paperwork required for my transactions. She was very helpful. Once inside, the efficiency was fantastic. Electronic boards confirm you are checked in and to be waited upon as per your scheduled time. The staff was so helpful, efficient, and friendly, I could have sworn they were not government employees! Great job, Fullerton DMV, you have my accolades! read more

Quickly did it on their kiosk. Out in 40 minutes. For work related to ID. Relatively organized on their part. My kid (17F) passed her DL test here, 2 1/2 months go by and we have not received anything. I call DMV and was informed that because an agent at this location sent in incorrect paperwork. The department of homeland security could not verify her identity and now her permit has expired. Therefore now we have to restart the process of drivers ed, pass permit, behind the wheel hours and DL test again because someone couldn't do their job correctly.
