We had recently moved into a home with stamped concrete sidewalks, patio and driveway. Some of the area had cracks and there was deterioration on some of the steps. We called DK Masonry and David Kelly came to our house and said he could repair all of the cracks and the deterioration. He returned on May 18, 2020 and began the repair. When he finished, my wife paid him $1050.
Within 1 to 2 months the repair to the steps began to crumble and parts actually fell off. This photo was taken August 25, 2020.
Some of the repairs to the cracks are also not holding. Photo taken Sept 4, 2020.
My wife called him and he came to view the work on the steps. He said the concrete must not have dried sufficiently before the cement was applied. He said he would come back and fix the crumbling cement in the next week. After not hearing from him for a few weeks, my wife called him back and was told he would come out when he could schedule it in.
After waiting for another few weeks, I called him and was told he had not returned because he could not find a weekend that he was free. I asked him several times why he was waiting for a weekend and he became very frustrated and asked me if I wanted my money back and I replied yes. He said he would send it to us.
Again, a few more weeks went by and we had not received our money. I called once again and left a voicemail stating that I was going to contact the BBB to which he replied in a voicemail "This is David Kelly. If you feel you want to go down that road feel free to. If I find that you are slamming my business, I will have my attorney call you and you two can work it out..." That message was left August 25th and to date we have not received the refund that he agreed to send. We submitted this claim to the BBB and were informed that he did not respond satisfactorily.
The work was unsatisfactory and he neither repaired his work nor refunded our money as he had promised. We are only looking to get our money back. read more
