I never write reviews. Ever. But this one matters…read more I hired Best Handyman to complete the final pieces of a full condo redesign -- something I had been planning and saving for for nearly a decade. It was emotional, meaningful, and represented a huge milestone for me. The last task? A simple bathroom faucet replacement. Instead, it turned into what many homeowners would call a nightmare. A water manifold failed. My third-floor unit flooded from the HVAC closet. The HVAC system itself was ruined. The building's water had to be shut off -- impacting other residents and even retail below. It was one cascading mechanical failure after another. And yet -- from the first moment it happened -- I felt something unexpected: calm. Because they showed up. Ryaan immediately reached out, even though he wasn't on site, to tell me they were on it and they would not leave me until this was resolved. And they didn't. There was no disappearing, no defensiveness, no finger-pointing -- just ownership, urgency, and care. Joao, who was there when it happened, carried this project on his shoulders. What should have been a faucet swap became a four-day emergency reconstruction. Even the replacement copper manifold installed after the original plastic gasket failed had its own manufacturing defect. Curveball after curveball. Joao was there at 8am and sometimes didn't leave until 1am. Not because he had to -- but because he refused to walk away until things were stable. That kind of commitment is rare. But more than the technical skill (which was exceptional), what struck me most was the humanity. They stood next to me in a moment that felt overwhelming. They communicated constantly. They coordinated other teams quickly and seamlessly. They made sure I was never left alone with the anxiety of it. In a world where so many people disappear when things get hard, they leaned in. There are moments in life when you see who people really are. This was one of them. What could have been a disaster story became something else entirely: proof that integrity and character still exist. I walked away not just with repairs completed, but with deep trust. And honestly? Gratitude. If you want people who show up -- truly show up -- when it matters most, there is nowhere else to go. Best Handyman has earned a customer for life.

The job included a full kitchen remodel, demolition of an un-permitted upstairs addition, new roof & gutters, new floor and subfloor throughout entire house, conversion of garage into a useable studio / workspace, extensive outdoor decking and stairs, new windows, water heater, electrical panel, various small fixes that arose during the process, and one giant unexpected detour when some demolition uncovered a leaning foundation and deteriorating slab that needed repair. Victors communication, attention to detail, and creativity were outstanding He kept us informed at every step of the way. And was always available to answer questions and address concerns. We were first time home-buyers and renovators, and needed a little hand-holding at times. His design suggestions were great, too. And he was full of creative solutions for the various issues, big and small, we uncovered with the house during the process. And most importantly, when the discovery of the foundation damage threw us way over our initial budget and threatened to derail our plans, Victor worked closely with us to figure out a way to make it all work. He went above and beyond in so many ways, big and small. Always striving to make sure that we were 100% satisfied. We quickly drew to trust Victor completely, and recommend him and VSgencontractor Inc without reservation.

When it was time to rebuild our 125-year-old front porch, we had a heck of a time finding someone…read morewho would do the work. We ended up choosing Victor and we're very glad we did. Victor is very patient, cooperative and kind. I'm kind of a lot, and he did a great job of putting up with me. We experienced a number of setbacks and delays because I insisted on very specific materials for certain things, and he was right there with me the whole way, even when we ended up special-ordering shingles from halfway across the country. Victor's team are all highly skilled and take pride in their work. They demolished the old porch, removed all debris, and built us a brand new one. They fixed the siding the old one had messed up. They replaced the gutters with new ones. They patched up the newly-exposed part of the chimney. Every last detail. I also didn't have to hassle Victor to get a permit; he just did it. Which is such a baseline expectation it shouldn't make him stand out amongst his competition. Sadly, it very much does. Whenever you take on a home remodeling project like this, you have a picture in your mind of what you want. For this project, we had really specific ideas, a mix of old and new, materials and techniques. Which is normal. And it never turns out that way. Not once in all the renovation and rebuilding projects I've done over the years. Reality just doesn't live up to imagination. So I don't know how to put this in terms that will communicate how rare and remarkable it is. Our porch is exactly right. It is exactly what we wanted, and looks exactly how we imagined it. I don't think there's any possible stronger recommendation I can give than that. We couldn't be happier. And I am pretty sure that in another 125 years, whoever is living in this house is going to say, "Well, the place is showing some real wear, but at least the front porch is still in great shape."

An aside: I was worried I'd have to try and move all the furniture myself, but he managed to do it and didn't even need me! Everything looks much better (both my rugs and my upholstered furniture) and I felt like the price was reasonable. Also, the quote I received ahead of time ended up being spot on to the actual cost. I'd had carpet cleaners come before and try to throw on all sorts of extra fees at the last minute, so that was a really welcome change! Definitely would use Super Steamers again.
