This restaurant was a country house with a few additions added onto for extra dining. When we arrived the parking lot was extremely full but we parked right away. There must of been 2 large groups ahead of us and several families filing in with the 2 of us. I expected a long wait but when we requested a table, without a prior reservations, the Hostess took one look at my "Retired Navy" hat and seated us immediately. The dress is from off the field to slightly dressy. Atmosphere is family friendly with older artifacts to look at while enjoying your meal. The owner DJ made routine rounds among the dinners, politely asking how the customers were enjoying their meal and offering up light conversations. The delmonico steaks were awesome and cooked to order. A 14 oz delmonico dinner with 2 sides was $19.00, the sweet tea was off the chain. Our waiter, Austin was excellent and very friendly and attentive. This is an awesome place for a great meal and well worth the travel. We will definitely be back often. DJ's is a family steakhouse out in the country, near Broxton. The Food... The food is very good. I eat here regularly, so I've tried some of it all. Complimentary fried sweet potatoes and hush puppies start you off. They have a variety of seafood, steaks, quail, hamburgers, along with many different sides to choose from. I'd recommend the seafood, and especially the grilled shrimp or fish...very good! Also, try the homemade cake for dessert. The Service... Service is good. Sometimes if they are really full the wait can get a little long. The owner will check on you regularly though to make sure everything is ok. The Atmosphere... Very family and community oriented. Everybody knows everybody here. The restaurant is in an old house, broken up into several rooms. The Price... Around $15 including drink for a steak or shrimp entree. read more

Seafood Platter was very good! This was my third or fourth time eating here, service was great, food was freshly prepared and hot, nice portions for the money. DJ'S also has a very good grilled steak too from my former visits. Our waitress Amy did a very good job taking care of us as we enjoyed our meal. Food was ok but service was awful. We sat down at 5:01 pm, was able to order drinks at 5:17, salad and app came at 5:52, steak and potato came at 6:07. The thing about the steaks were: I saw them delivered to another waitress' s station where they sat for about 7 minutes. Then those same steaks went back to the kitchen with another waitress saying "went to the wrong table." Not two minutes later those same steaks came to our table. We had to ask other waitresses for refills and condiments. When the person was told about the steak incident, all she could say was "Really? That happened?" And rushed us out. Yes, I kept track of times and was observant as I do when I go to restaurants for the first time. We will not be going back. read more

You have to wait an HOUR + to get a table in a VERY CROWDED waiting place WHILE EMPTY TABLES AND BOOTHS EXIST... you can not sit and wait you have to move constantly so wait staff can get by the crowd waiting. @7:30 Sat night when we showed up. OK I understand being crowded for a RUSH HOUR but.... We get to our table waitress names off what they are out of...SO I had 4 teens with me 3 ordered same thing. Shrimp with grits and fries..LIMITED SIDE ORDERS MAINLY POTATOES /FRIES FRIED OKRA or salad... My son ordered Mahi Mahi with sweet potato fries and a salad..I ordered a 14 OZ Steak cooked MEDIUM....w/ baked potato and salad... The Tea was delivered waitress said salad was having to be made would be a minute..OK..Salad came KIDS WERE STARVING we had been there more than an HOUR AND A HALF already....SALAD WAS DECENT had few grapes and I THINK Raisins or Craisins on it... Kids 3 shrimp meals came..two had grits in TO GO Styrofoam CONTAINERS one had a regular bowl..the SHRIMP were very salty...the kids ate til filled....leaving 3-4 shrimp each....THEN My sons Mahi Mahi came out NO SWEET POTATOES they were still cooking...My steak came out WAS RAW..I do MEAN RAW....not the slightest amount COOKED...I ordered it MEDIUM...not VERY RARE....AND there was no baked potato available said would be a few minutes it was cooking.... SO..I sat and ate the kids SALTY SHRIMP they could not finish BECAUSE I WAS STARVING it was past 9 PM I still didnt have my steak....The waitress brought my steak and baked potato in a TO GO BOX...so...I paid $16.95 or more I dont even know..FOR A STEAK TO GO.... I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT TO EAT AT THE SAME TIME AS YOUR FAMILY nor would I recommend it if you can not stand in crowds for an HOUR waiting on a table...THERE WERE TWO EMPTY BOOTHS in the area known as GIFT SHOP the entire time we were waiting on a TABLE they never sat people there....AND...when we were seated there were 3 empty tables on a side wing near us THEY DID NOT SEAT PEOPLE THERE that could have been used rather than all of us huddled in the entrance for an HOUR..seriously...5 EMPTY TABLES would have cleared the waiting room...just ridiculous... I told the manager when I was leaving with my DINNER IN A TO GO BOX that I was NOT happy to not get to eat the steak I had ordered BECAUSE IT CAME WELL AFTER MY ENTIRE PARTY HAD FINISHED THEIR MEALS....his REPLY...no JOKE.....FRIED FOOD COOKS FASTER.....no DUH SHERLOCK but you can not even prepare food for the table AT THE SAME TIME what kind of place are you?
