From the beginning, Zauri was professional, responsive, and easy to work with, even though he was communicating with both me (living far away) and my father. He showed up on time on the scheduled days, took great pride in his work, and brought some creative design ideas that helped transform his outdated shower into a beautiful space. What we appreciated most was his attention to detail and the care he put into making sure everything was done properly. He completed the project on time, and the quality of his workmanship really shows. I would highly recommend Alameda and Zauri to anyone looking to renovate their space, particularly given the quality for the price. Thank you to Zauri for making this project a great experience.

He was extremely helpful after I shared photos of the project, offering thoughtful ideas and arriving well‑prepared on the day of the job. Rino provided several creative suggestions and truly valued collaboration when discussing the project's direction. He was friendly and professional throughout, even making a trip to the local hardware store to purchase needed supplies and providing receipts. His service was efficient, and he kept me informed with frequent progress updates which added great value to the project. I would absolutely recommend Alameda Construction--especially Rino--for future projects or even one‑off day jobs.

We…read moreinvested more than $250,000 in a home addition and expected professional workmanship, attention to detail, and basic communication. Instead, we spent the entire project chasing people down, pointing out mistakes, repeatedly requesting repairs, and essentially babysitting the professionals we hired to do the job. Two years later, we are still dealing with the consequences of choosing this contractor. The problems started before the project even began, when the estimator failed to show up for our appointment twice. Unfortunately, that lack of reliability and communication continued throughout the project. Workers would either show up without notice, or fail to show up when expected. Communication was a consistent issue, and getting answers or having issues addressed required repeated follow-ups. The workmanship and attention to detail given to our home was beyond disappointing. The many problems we experienced include subpar materials used on our new stairs, poor construction of our portico requiring it to be rebuilt, corners of walls built not square - bordering on triangular shape (in two rooms, one was never repaired), horrible drywall work which had to be redone, painting which had to be redone in every room multiple times, a hallway left uninsulated while the workers threw away packaged insulation in our dumpster, gutters installed in the wrong color, windows delivered with no screens, and an electrical panel being installed without being labeled at all (how basic is that?). The existing front door was damaged by the workers and had to be repainted. They failed to paint it acceptably 3 times and we ended up so frustrated that we told them to refund us the amount of an independent painter's estimate and had him strip the paint and start over instead. The final cost of our project also came in incredibly higher than the original estimate. Far too many things that should have been done correctly the first time required repeated requests and follow-up, and some issues were never actually resolved. This was the most major investment we have ever made in our home. We expected a finished addition that reflected the price we paid. Instead, we have been requesting assistance on several warranty issues for the first 2 years of a 5 year warranty. We have limited confidence in the quality of the work. Yesterday we had scheduled for warranty repair on the stairs. I attempted to schedule a prep meeting with the contractor ahead of the repair this weekend, which required us to stay off the second and third floors of our home all weekend (where all bedrooms are). I contacted them no less than 5 times to schedule this meeting. Nobody responded with any information until the day prior to work beginning and were told that work would begin the next day. After all the planning and coordination for months, our family of five made arrangements to stay off the second floor for two days. All three kids packed their bags, set up cots and air mattresses, and gathered their toiletries and everything else they would need. My husband and I rearranged our workdays and set up in the kitchen to work so we could take our meetings without interfering with the workers. Our project manager arrived and did a beautiful job tarping off and protecting the house. Everything was ready to go. Then, after he left at 8:30am, the stairs guy simply walked out and never returned. That's right. He left without starting and never came back, and apparently no one knows where he is or if he plans to return. I have no idea if and how our stairs will be repaired and the whole family is exhausted. It is time to move back upstairs tonight with zero progress made and no contact from Munz Construction in over 24 hours, although we told them what happened on Friday afternoon. This situation wasn't fair to the adults, but it was most unfair to the young kids, who prepared for this "downstairs camping adventure" we'd sold them and were so organized and agreeable to the weekend-long inconvenience. I'm pretty certain at this point Munz Construction just doesn't care about our family. We would not recommend this company to anyone.

We are incredibly happy with the process and results from our new roofs/skylights/gutters from…read moreKontz Construction! Our family dealt directly with the president, Joe Kontz. A pleasure to work with in person: Knowledgeable, friendly, no pressure, no upsell, trustworthy. Kontz Construction is a local family business with deep ties to our local community, which we prefer. This was a big job: House & detached garage, 10 new skylights, new gutters. Roof 3 stories high and a very steep pitch. Kontz broke down the prices step by step focusing on listening to our needs, which changed from the first meeting to the 2nd meeting where we locked in the job. Joe Kontz customized the job to our changing needs and focus, which was incredibly helpful. We felt 100% confident at the start of the job, and that confidence was well founded. Work crews arrived on time, polite, and incredibly hard working. The work crews communicated well with our family and Joe, and everyone felt they were on the same page as the big job commenced. Over 3 business days, two roofs, 10 new skylights, and all new gutters were executed. Importantly, the communication from Joe Kontz was ongoing... he didn't disappear during the job and was often onsite, responsive by phone or text. Importantly, the management of trash and cleanup of our property was perfect. Very large machinery (cranes) were managed effectively, with no accidents or property damage (which is easy to do with large machines on driveways, trees, fences, etc.). A huge dumpster was placed, filled, and hauled away professionally. Finally, the dedication of the roofing crew to use magnetic brooms and tools to clear our yard of metal was outstanding. Our property looks better than when the roofing job started! Anyone who has replaced a roof will understand how impressive that is! The quoted price was the price we paid. Prior damages (commonly revealed when replacing a roof) were documented with photos, and additional costs (for new plywood replacement) were explained carefully. These additional costs were minimal and worth every penny. Kontz Construction and Joe Kontz made a "once in a lifetime", critical home repair about as painless as possible. 5 stars is not enough to describe the sense of relief (and pride) we have as homeowners! We made a huge decision and it worked out wonderfully, thanks to Joe Kontz and Kontz Construction. We will always reach out to Joe as a trusted contractor for any job or service he can complete in the future.

Services provided: Removal and replacement of siding, capping, trim, gutters, gutter guards, and…read moredownspouts. Reason for 2/5 stars: Ultimately the job was completed per the contract, but I am not happy with the quality of work or Joe's attitude while resolving issues. I do not recommend Kontz Construction. Notes: Kontz Construction subcontracts with Topline Siding and a gutter company whose name I did not catch. Contracts with Kontz Construction include a requirement for a "positive comment and 5 star review upon job completion to full satisfaction." Kontz was 1 of 5 companies we received estimates from. For all the work done I was quoted $17,550 which was not the cheapest quote, but I felt it was reasonable and Joe initially inspired confidence. That quote did not include residing the gables, but Joe was willing to add those in at no additional cost later on. Time from signing the contract to work starting was quick, only a few weeks. Problems: Channel drain in driveway was not covered and ended up filled with debris. Siding company had to be told three times to do a site cleanup and still did a poor job of it. Fiber optic internet box was carelessly removed which broke the FO cable requiring repair by Verizon. Exterior light was carelessly removed and broken. Other exterior lights were not properly wired when reinstalled. My (brand new) trash cans were used to move debris into dumpster and were broken. A bush was completely destroyed and inconvenient branches on trees were deliberately snapped off instead of pruned. The house wrap had many gaps and was left covering attic and dryer vents. Pieces of siding near the gable peaks were not properly secured and fell off. Misalignment of the siding caused a gap to open. They did not choose to use undersill/utility trim to secure the top row of siding causing it to become wavy as the nails through the bottom edge did not allow thermal movement. An additional issue (that isn't exactly anyone's fault) is that while the house initially had 5" gutters and new 5" gutters were installed, they are actually a bit too narrow given the broad, low-pitch roof on the house and with the type of gutter guards installed there is a lot of water that the gutters do not catch. My impression after speaking with the gutter company is that 6" is what SHOULD have been installed, but the contract was for 5". In my opinion this is simply an oversight. Results: Joe apologized for the lack of cleanup, took $550 off the final amount to compensate for damages, sent the siding company back out to reinstall the pieces that fell off and fix the gap and (after a lot of back and forth) properly install undersill trim to secure the top row of siding. The gutter company has checked the gutters and said that replacement with wider gutters is what's needed, but at this point I'm done dealing with Joe Kontz. While Joe was initially polite, professional, cordial, and seemed like a no BS type of guy, as soon as I had complaints about the quality of work and assorted issues he started speaking to me as if I'm stupid, implied that since I don't live in a "million dollar house" I shouldn't be complaining, tried to convince me that undersill trim is not industry standard, and in general had a really unpleasant, unprofessional attitude about resolving issues. While the contract was fulfilled, the experience was overall unpleasant and given the corners that I KNOW were cut I have serious misgivings about the overall quality and longevity of the siding installation. My experience may be a one-off, Kontz Construction has many positive reviews, but I will never contract with them again and certainly do not recommend them to anyone else. (Review reposted after first one "disappeared.")
