When I came home from Maine as instructed by the salesperson I poured my whiskey into the barrel. So it's been in the barrel now for a little over two months. Then at Christmas I thought I would show it off to my sons. The barrel is completely empty gone evaporated. So today I call Wiggly the gentleman I spoke with and he gives me a list of things I should have done. I told him that would have been great advice when I spent almost 150 bucks and maybe a set of instructions would be helpful. He did not and I did not ask for anything so today the barrel goes in the basement to collect dust instead of producing delicious bourbon. The end!

Our tour guide was knowledgeable but willing to admit when she didn't know the answer to something. She showed us around, answered questions and best of all, poured our samples! Bully Boy's products we good! We bought bottles of their Amaro, Boston Rum and Estate Gin but we didn't try anything that we didn't like. The facility is cool and there's an awesome space to hang out back in the barrel room. On caveat, which doesn't impact their rating at all is that it's in a "less than awesome" neighborhood, so be aware of that when you're visiting.

I had an Old Fashioned, and it was probably the best Old Fashioned I've had all year. They make all of their liquor themselves which is nice. It's a cozy place with limited seating, so keep this in mind. Best to go with a group of 4 or so, otherwise seating can be difficult to all sit together and easily interact. They host tours of the place with tastings that looked fun. I want to go in the future!

We tried a flight of raspberry-lime rickies all made with different gins which was a revelation! Really, really good gins. (We bought a bottle of their Old Tom gin) I had a flight of their whiskeys which was good - the most interesting (and the one I bought) was their "Beersky" which is a whiskey they distilled from beer - super interesting and almost rye-like in taste. You have to walk down an access road that goes to the back parking lot to get to the entrance. They did have some banners at the entrance but that was odd. They have some food offerings that were pretty good and we tried a flight of most of their drink offerings. There were a couple of good pours, their New Medford rum and Addendum B whiskey were particularly good. Ambiance was lacking. The place caters to the late 20's - early 30's grunge crowd (or at least it did when we were there) and that's not us. The loud metal music and non-stop cursing by the bar staff and most of the patrons ensures that we won't be back. They do sell many of their spirits online, so perhaps check them out.

Besides spending leisure time writing Yelp reviews, I am also the Emergency Management Director in our town, a position that I perform pro bono and allows me to use my emergency management career to help our town. And then we entered the world or COVID-19 and like every town in the state and the country, we started using our cleaning and sanitizing equipment consistently. Although we had a good stock, the initial decontamination and disinfection of every piece of property in the town made our stock dwindle below emergency levels, particularly in sanitizer that folks in our police, fire, ambulance service and public works use. Enter Doire Distillery. As we were counting the drops of sanitizer left, we found out that Doire had switched their production from whiskey to alcohol for sanitizing purposes. Andy Day and his wife were busily distilling alcohol and mixing it with aloe to make a suitable sanitizer. I called him up and he offered the product at a very low price. We took him up on his offer and three days later we had two gallons of sanitizer we could use for our first responders. As a veteran, I am used to people telling me "Thank you for your service". This time the thanks are owed to the service of a business who provided a wonderful public service at the time we most needed it. This pandemic will be over. Sooner or later. And Doire will be forever etched in my memory as a place to visit and patronize. Thanks..

The drinks are awesome, and the place is a hub for the local scene.. artists, themed body salves, the owners make the space available for get togethers, music, and vibe. There's a sewing/stitch circle that meets here, live music or DJ. Clean, tastefully lit, spacious.. not a bad place to chill for a few drinks. The cocktails are inventive, anywhere from tropical to sugary to serious, depending on the most recent spirits and seasons. There's a big window right into the family-run distillery itself, where the whole show is on-site, from prep with straight ingredients, to fermentation to distilling and bottling.
