I arrived a little early and grabbed a seat at the bar, where I tried to order a glass of wine. But that wasn't happening here! They serve neither wine or beer, only their own whiskeys, vodkas, rums, gin, and an agave-based spirits. I tried one of their mixed drinks, which was excellent. Still, if you want a beer or a glass of wine with dinner, that's going to be an issue. Among other dishes, we ordered: Charcuterie Board: Artisan cheeses, cured meats, pickled vegetables, plum preserves, espelette mustard, and grilled focaccia. Caesar Salad: Romaine, anchovy dressing, sourdough croutons, and parmesan tuile. Seared Tuna: Sesame-crusted ahi tuna, cold glass noodle salad, bean sprouts, snow peas, braised spring onions, sesame yuzu ponzu, and black rice vinegar reduction. Steak Frites: Balsamic-marinated steak tips, tater tots, trumpet mushrooms, gochujang aioli, gorgonzola, pickled chiles, and avocado salsa verde. With the exception of the charcuterie board, the food was very good and nicely presented. My seared tuna was excellent. It was a busy Friday night, though, and service was spotty. One diner commented on the long wait for a drink refill. The setting added to the evening, and the restaurant's interior is also beautiful. Overall, a solid four-star dining experience.

Is this the most scenic spot in southern Vermont to stop in for a drink or make a liquor purchase?…read more I think so! You've got breathtaking views out the window or sitting in the yard behind the store. There's even a few more breathtaking views looking across the street from the parking lot. I was going to say location is everything, but then there's the liquor. You're allowed 4 complimentary tastes. These are not large, maybe thimble sized, but you definitely get an idea of the flavors. I came here specifically for the maple whiskies (well, it IS Vermont), but I also enjoyed the cherry liqueur, something I definitely wanted for my liquor cabinet as well. I didn't purchase any of their crafted cocktails, but other customers in the store while I was there did, and they were obviously satisfied. Obviously the products here are elevated in both taste and height above sea level.

They then let you know you can sample 4 different spirits, my wife and I declined on this part only due to the fact we stopped at the nearby brewery first. We went right into picking our cocktails. Next time we definitely would do the sampling. Cocktail wise their current menu was broken into three different sections, those being Vodka, Bourbon, and lastly moonshine. An extra category on the bottom did include two mocktails as well. I thought the cocktails were extremely reasonable either being $11 or $13. I got their peach smash which was a really good drink utilizing their honey bourbon and peach liqueur which was balanced so well! My wife got their French martini that utilized their vodka and raspberry liqueur and came in a frosted glass. We loved both of the drinks and even though my wife typically is not a bourbon fan she liked mine. While we enjoyed our drinks inside and appreciated the atmosphere of the inside including the decor the true view is outside. Enjoy your cocktail while taking in the view, you can be on the patio or at a table or chair at the overlook. Can snap some amazing photos that's for sure! To sum it up, friendly and welcoming staff who make delicious cocktails with a great setting inside and out!

Nashoba Valley -- An Enchanting Afternoon Among the Vines, Followed by an Unforgettable Evening!…read more Some places offer a wonderful meal. Others offer beautiful surroundings. And then there are those rare destinations that bring together exceptional food, gracious hospitality, breathtaking scenery and unexpected little moments of delight. Nashoba Valley is one of those places! We visited last week, a party of four, and what began as a leisurely lunch turned into an absolutely magical afternoon and evening. From dining beside the grapevines and wandering through the apple orchards to wine tasting and an exquisite dinner, every part of our visit was a pleasure. Our first stop was The Knoll, where we settled in for lunch surrounded by the beauty of the vineyards. The sandwiches were excellent, and our server was an absolute delight--warm, cheerful, attentive and always smiling. But the highlight of our afternoon was something entirely unexpected. As we sat enjoying our lunch, we noticed the grapevines nearby. When we learned that we were welcome to pick and taste the grapes directly from the vines, we were thrilled! These were the tiniest, sweetest little grapes, bursting with natural sweetness. There we were, four adults, having the most marvelous time plucking grapes straight from the vines and savoring every bite. It was such a simple pleasure, yet it became one of the most memorable moments of our visit. There is something wonderfully indulgent about enjoying nature's bounty right where it grows! After lunch, we took a leisurely stroll through the beautiful orchard, admiring the apple trees and picking a few apples along the way. The grounds were lovely, and the entire experience had that unhurried, quintessentially New England charm that makes an afternoon in the countryside so special. Our next stop was wine tasting, another thoroughly enjoyable experience and a lovely way to spend the afternoon before heading to J's Restaurant for dinner. And what an extraordinary way to end the day! J's is an absolute gem. From the outside, the rustic farmhouse has an understated, old-world charm. Step inside, however, and you discover an interior that is cozy, elegant and stunningly beautiful. It strikes that wonderful balance between refined dining and the warmth of a country home. The atmosphere is inviting and intimate, without a hint of pretension. The dinner itself was phenomenal. Every dish we ordered was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The quality of the food, the presentation and the attentive hospitality made for a truly memorable dining experience. By the time we finished our meal, we were so delightfully satisfied that we simply couldn't contemplate dessert. But J's had one final surprise in store for us! We were told that the owner has a charming tradition for guests who don't order dessert. Moments later, out came the most whimsical little treat: complimentary cotton candy, beautifully presented in elegant glasses! It was completely unexpected, wonderfully playful and such a delightful gesture. After an exquisite dinner, this little flourish brought smiles to all our faces. It was the perfect finishing touch to an already exceptional evening. What impressed me most about Nashoba Valley was the genuine warmth and hospitality we encountered throughout our visit. From our lovely server at The Knoll to the gracious service at J's, everyone made us feel welcome. There is an unmistakable sense of pride and care here, not only in the food and wine but also in the experience they create for their guests. Nashoba Valley is so much more than a winery or a restaurant. It is a destination to be savored. Come for a leisurely lunch, linger among the vineyards, wander through the orchards, enjoy a wine tasting and finish with a beautiful dinner at J's. Better still, bring your friends and family and make an entire day of it, as we did. We arrived expecting a pleasant afternoon in the countryside and left with wonderful memories, full hearts and very full stomachs! An absolutely enchanting experience from beginning to end. We cannot wait to return!

I wish the charcuterie board had included some apple slices. I think the wine tasting price has gone up since last year, though we didn't partake this time. It was a beautiful day, service was friendly, and we also went apple picking, which was a great experience and actually a steal compared to some of the other orchards in the area. I was unfortunately too full of food and apples to try a cider donut, and wish we had taken some home!

"Forget the cafe latte, screw the raspberry iced tea A…read moremalibu and coke for you, a G and T for me Alcohol, alternative to feeling like yourself Oh, alcohol, I still drink to your health" (Barenaked Ladies) We took a drive out to Connecticut's "Quiet Corner" to visit Watercure Farm and pick up a bottle of craft bourbon as a birthday present for a bourbon-loving friend of ours. Watercure is a locally owned distillery that uses locally harvested ingredients to craft small batches of vodka, rum, whiskey, gin, bourbon, and brandy. Their website lists 20 different spirts, so they get pretty creative in the distillery. Everything is made on site, and when I asked to take a look at the sparkling silver tanks where the magic happens, our host happily obliged. They sell Apple Spice Flavored Rum, Vodka Flavored with Cucumber and Mint, Vodka Flavored with Strawberry and Rhubarb, Corn Vodka, Apple Vodka, Wheat Vodka, Shiitake Mushroom Flavored Vodka, Connecticut Corn Whisky, Barreled Aged- CT Corn Whisky, Connecticut Wheat Bourbon Whisky, Barreled Aged Gin, Gin, Rum, Brandy, McIntosh Apple Brandy, 1686 American Bourbon Whisky, Wolf Den Rye Whisky, 1701 Single Malt Whisky, Connecticut Bourbon Whisky, and Connecticut Barley Bourbon Whisky. Pretty impressive, eh? You can get a flight of four samples, or a mixed drink at their bar while you enjoy the super chill atmosphere in an old barn. We had a $14.99 flight of Cucumber and Mint Flavored Vodka, Apple Vodka, Apple Rum, and Strawberry Rhubarb Vodka (which we loved and was clearly our favored sample). As for my bourbon loving buddy, we picked up a 200 ml bottle of CT Wheat Bourbon ($59.99), and when we mentioned it was destined to be a birthday present, our host lovingly wrapped it in plastic and tied it with a pretty white bow! We had a wonderful experience out here in Pomfret Center, CT, and I bet you will too.

From the start, I am in love with them having their own parking lot in the back. Any place I know where I can park safely, already gets a 10/10. Our two bartenders were Joe and Brendan. Both were extremely knowledgeable on their drinks and can make some magic happen for drinks. I started with a Jack Rose which Brendan made. I was asking question over the menu and what he suggested. (I love great drinks but like them fruity or sweet). He recommended Jack Rose and YUMMMM! All the girls were trying my drink and thought it was delicious. The drink of choice for the party was the Paloma, very great as well. Towards the end of the event I was socializing with them and they were gems of a human. I asked Joe if he would be able to make a Pornstar Martini and he KILLED IT (twice, I may say). It wasn't on the menu and he still made it like a pro. It really should be on the menu for the future, it was incredible. Great space and incredible bartenders. Bravo Joe and Brendan. I would 100% think of this space in the future for a small event!

You have to walk down an access road that goes to the back parking lot to get to the entrance. They did have some banners at the entrance but that was odd. They have some food offerings that were pretty good and we tried a flight of most of their drink offerings. There were a couple of good pours, their New Medford rum and Addendum B whiskey were particularly good. Ambiance was lacking. The place caters to the late 20's - early 30's grunge crowd (or at least it did when we were there) and that's not us. The loud metal music and non-stop cursing by the bar staff and most of the patrons ensures that we won't be back. They do sell many of their spirits online, so perhaps check them out.
