Came in while doing some Black Friday shopping for a washer and dryer. Unfortunately, the…read moreexperience fell a little flat. The store itself felt very cramped, and the inventory was limited, which made it hard to seriously compare options. Pricing also wasn't very appealing -- everything felt inflated, which I'm guessing may be influenced by the surrounding area. What stood out the most was the lack of engagement. There were plenty of staff gathered in the back having a loud conversation, but during the roughly 10 minutes we walked around, no one acknowledged us or asked if we needed help. Because of the tight space, limited selection, and pricing, we ended up leaving without purchasing anything. Not a terrible experience, but not one that encouraged us to stay or return.

Great thanks, I think we could have gone over that over the phone and had it taken care of before the install. The unit wasn't installed for a couple more weeks- I was living out of coolers. Thanks home depot. So next my dishwasher died (I've lived in the unit for 25 years), this time I call Lowe's. Smart me, right? NO. They come by with the dishwasher and tell me they can't install it because the connection (water line to the unit) was too far from the install area (it's maybe 2 feet away). OK thanks Lowe's. That's when I found Smith Appliance. I told them the problem they told me "no problem". A Curteous professional sales person helped me select an appliance (made in u.s.a) in my price range, they have an on-site install guy gave me a price on the spot (happened to be there) and they came and installed it. That was almost a year ago, the thing runs perfectly, very quiet , dishes clean.....my only regret is that I should have dug in discovered this business 30 years ago. I just replaced them on 9/7/2020. 9 years they worked perfectly, never had to make a repair call. Unfortunately, I've moved out of the area and was not able to use Abbey Appliances this time. I certainly do recommend them.

When the day got late Monday, I called. I was told their delivery truck broke. When I asked why they didn't call to tell me, they said "Oh, sorry". Then Tuesday and Wednesday went by--no call from them, and no answer or voicemail when I called them several times each day to inquire. We went to Abbey to confront them in person about this early Thursday afternoon 1/26. Two "open" signs were on, but the door was locked, no one in sight. Another guy pulled up and said the same thing happened to him yesterday. Since he hadn't bought anything yet, we told him our story and told him not to do business with Abbey. Luckily, my co-worker's credit card company credited her the full amount of the charge. Years ago, when Abbey was up North on 41, it was a good place to do business. I'd hate for anyone else to go through what we did, so please consider doing business elsewhere, such as the Sears Outlet ("scratch and dent") near the Big Chicken, or Appliance Mart (or maybe it's Appliance Smart) just a little further down from the BC. Prices are way better at Sears Outlet, but you'll get better attention at Appliance(s)mart. Take your pick. Also worth noting, but probably not a deal-breaker for those seeking a great deal on an appliance: Abbey is definitely not a pretty place. And when we went, the inventory was oddly low. The building absolutely reeks of cigarette smoke. If you smoke, feel free to light up, I guess. Otherwise, bring a mask and a change of clothes if you decided you'll still brave shopping there after my review. To end on a positive note, the gentleman who helped us with our purchase was very nice.

It seems like I am in the minority with my positive review! That being said, I will just write…read moreabout my experience because i have used the Appliance Doctor 3 times now for 3 different appliance issues. The most recent issue (as in today 12/1/16) was a leaking garbage disposal. Called on Tuesday an based on schedules we settled for today between 1-5. They were very accomdating and did their best to match up with my hospital work schedule. I do my research before hand as in im cautious and maybe jaded because I dont know a lot about appliances (obviously if I did I wouldn't be calling them) and want to not get charged to fix something that doesnt need fixing or being sold on something because I lack knowledge. I was preparing myself, based on where the leak was, to have to buy a new disposal based on cost of parts and labor it would have been cheaper to just replace...I called this morning to see if by chance they could rell me if it was gling to be closer to 1 or 5. I gor an honest answer and they said closer 5. Mike was my tech and called me around 3:30 and about 20 min before arrival. His time frame was almost to the T. He was pleasent, knowledgable, and professional. He basically showed me that something had not originally been secured which was why it was leaking. It was an easy repair only using a hammer to re align the piece that was not properly secured. He was not offended as I stood there and watched, answered my questions, told me what he was doing etc. Never made me feel dumb or in his way. I even learned how to un clog/jam the dislosal and how to reset if it is not kicking on. There is a 30 day warranty in case it starts leaking again and a free "goody bag" with dishwasher soap, chip clip, and fridge magnet! In the past, I had a washing machine issue (which I ended up having to replace due to its age). The second call was when the dryer stopped working because it overheated and automatically shut down dur to a safety feature (which I wasn't aware of). The duct was cleaned and the tech shortened the hose because it was way to long and was a hazard. No issues with either service call or the techs who came. Didn't feel jipped/taken advantge of, or had shoddy workmanship. It stinks that so many people have had such negative experiences!!

They came out for a simple washer lid lock issue. Took him 30 minutes and a small part and they…read morecharged $350! Shame on me for not asking their minimum labor charge which turned out to be $250! Then they charged $100 for a plastic part that I could get online for $30. I could buy a new washer for $550! Do not use these price gougers!
