In an often douche-ridden industry it's a fresh-as-a-summer's eve feeling to find that DJ with authenticity and big love. DJ Wondir is that guy. I've gotten to enjoy his skills at Pebble Beach Food & Wine, Mundaka and CRBC. I use to know an enlightened being who claims to have reached this state while DJ-ing. Wondir is the kind of guy who makes me actually believe this is possible. He creates a fantastic vibe-- spreading smiles and connecting friends & strangers in the universal language of music. His great smile doesn't hurt either. One reviewer mentioned "obscure music" as if it were a bad thing. Hey, anybody can play the radio's playlist... boring! The fact that he blends in lesser known songs is an indication that he takes his job seriously and has a real knowledge of music. That being said, he's accommodating to his client's taste so much so that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for a wedding. Hanif was an AWESOME DJ for our wedding at Monterey Museum of Art - La Mirada. We booked him pretty close to the wedding but he was so accommodating, met with us in person, gave us the best recommendations for our wedding after-party! We were pretty loose with what kind of music we wanted. We had some "must play" songs and "do not play" songs. We let him fill in the rest with a general guideline of the style of music we liked. He told us his plan to build up the energy for dancing. We got SO many compliments about the music at our wedding! Everyone loved the music and said DJ Hanif was AWESOME. How often do wedding guests actually talk to the DJ and become chummy?!? His transitions between songs were great, he mixed up the songs a bit so they were more energetic to dance to, and he was just cool. We did ask him to do some announcements etc and that was great. If you're stressing over which DJ to hire for your wedding/event, just hire Hanif, and stop worrying. Seriously. That's all you really need to know, but if you want details, read on... We recently had our wedding at an outdoor venue in Big Sur, and were a little concerned about guests not dancing since the venue wasn't a typical indoor location. We were also from out of state, so it was a little nerve-wracking hiring vendors without getting the chance to meet them in person first. Luckily, Hanif was recommended by our coordinator, so I didn't have to look far before I found him...and now I feel silly for being concerned at all. He was able to get (and keep) everyone on the dance floor all evening. Even my grandmother was out there! As he played the best mix of tunes, everyone kept asking where I had found this amazing DJ. He was so friendly, professional, and easy to work with. I had only communicated with him via email, and with pretty much no direction from us (aside from a song list that I sent him at the last minute when he was already in Big Sur with limited internet access - sorry Hanif!), he nailed it. We wanted a really laid back vibe to our wedding, and he was also able to casually keep the night moving with just a few announcements. Nothing cheesy or over-the-top. DJ Hanif was our wedding DJ/emcee at Carmel Valley Ranch in March 2017, and he did an outstanding job! We actually fell pretty behind on finding a DJ amidst all the wedding planning, and stumbled upon his website around two months before our wedding date and luckily he was available. From our first interaction, Hanif was super chill, professional, but also really personable and easy to communicate with. He was very flexible in making time to chat with us, and even met up with us near our venue about two weeks prior just to go over details and get better acquainted. Hanif also had prior experiencing DJing at our venue, which made the entire process that much more seamless. He was familiar with all of the different locations of our events, what equipment or setup was needed for each area, and knew who to coordinate with on-site as needed, and also gave us great suggestions on how to best achieve what we wanted musically and sound-wise for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Additionally, our Matron of Honor had planned to do a surprise song/rap during her reception speech and managed to track down his contact information, and Hanif made time to chat and coordinate with her last minute the night before the big day. As far as the music goes, I'm going to be a little cheesy and say it was HYPE! We gave Hanif an overall playlist for the entire evening as a starting point, but told him to layer in and mix as he saw fit. The music was a hit! We love hip hop and throwback jams, and he mixed and transitioned everything so so smoothly. We even extended our reception an additional hour because we wanted to keep the party going, and Hanif was very cool about accomodating us. So many of our guests were raving about how impressed they were by our dj and music. After he played the last song of the night, our guests were shouting "one more song, one more song"! So we knew that was an excellent indication everyone had a great time and that we made the best choice for a DJ. Hanif obliged, by the way, and gave us one more memorable song to end the night. We also saw several of our guests giving their props to Hanif after the party ended as he was packing up. So happy to see that! Having someone to take care of the ceremony music (played perfectly, right on time for maximal effect) was a million times better than stressing about an i-pod.
