A tip is to (search the web) and try and find the musicians you like through other channels and book direct with them, don't go through Kelly Productions until they get their act together. 5 stars for Kelly Productions! I got married last Fall and had a wonderful experience working with KellyPro for our wedding music needs. I worked with Kayla for the majority of the time and I cannot say enough good words about her. Extremely helpful, knowledgable, and efficient. A couple of months before our wedding Kayla moved on to another job and I worked with Heather - she was also very helpful. For our wedding music we used: Montage: ceremony music Paul Hodgins: bagpiper during certain parts of ceremony Mark Banks: his own live music during cocktail hour and DJ for reception THEY WERE ALL FABULOUS!! Obviously, we had a lot of moving parts for our music and KellyPro worked so nicely with me on figuring out all the fine details (so appreciated given how stressful all the planning is). The "talent" themselves were all absolutely fabulous. Montage and Paul had many song options to choose from, arrived on time and delivered just what we had hired them to do. Being that they were hired for ceremony music, I never actually had a chance to meet them but all my guests commented on how great they were. As for Mark...do yourself a HUGE favor and don't think twice...book him if he's available for your date! HE. IS. AMAZING. His live music is just beautiful, he's so talented! As our DJ, he was fantastic as well. He was wonderful to communicate with before the wedding - we had LOTS of particulars for the kind of music we did and didn't want played during our reception and he respected every single thing we asked for (which, from many stories I'd heard about other DJs, is rare). I felt like we asked a lot of Mark and not only was he so kind and calm in receiving our requests, he followed through with ALL of them. He made me feel reassured about everything in the weeks leading up to the wedding and that is simply invaluable. We met him briefly the night of the wedding and he was so gracious and warm! Perhaps best of all, he ROCKED it for the dancing part of the reception. Played an AWESOME mix of songs and everyone had the best time. You know when your guests comment on how great the DJ was at your wedding you've found a great one. Again, do not hesitate- book him now. We hired Monterey String Quartet through Kelly Productions for our April wedding in Big Sur. They accepted all our song requests and even learned the processional song, it was beautifully performed and our guests loved the modern pop/rock music performed by the strings, and could definitely "name that tune" which was really fun! Having the live music truly helped establish the elegant yet fun atmosphere for our outdoor wedding. Our ring-warming ceremony got a little confused, and the actual processional took a shorter time than expected, and the musicians handled the music cues flawlessly, seamlessly lengthening and shortening the songs as needed. This review is for the musicians who played at my recent wedding ceremony and cocktail hour - the Monterey String Quartet. The group was absolutely fantastic - they were willing (for a small fee) to learn a couple of additional songs that we really wanted to be a part of our ceremony, they were on time and well-prepared, they played all of the pieces that we requested and in the way we requested them, and we got SO many compliments on how amazing the quartet was!! Everyone thought it was such a beautiful choice to have a string quartet play, and all were struck by the uniqueness of modern music being played by violins - such a cool addition to our day. My only wish is that I could have spoken directly to the group before the wedding day (everything is handled via Kelly Productions, you don't talk to the group until the actual event). Nothing went wrong, I just would have liked to have been able to meet or at least speak with the musicians in advance. The music was beautiful and everyone loved the ambiance the strings added - the Monterey String Quartet is amazing. read more

Most DJ companies I talked to basically looked like monkeys in suits....they were quick to say all the things they could do, all the things I shouldn't do, and really trumped their own horns much more than they should have........... AND THEN I came across Kelly Productions!! From the get go, I got that warm fuzzy feeling when I spoke on the phone with John Kelly. I still to this day have never met John, but I felt very connected to John within the first 5 minutes of our phone conversation. John understood our visions, what we wanted to hear, and how we wanted the MC aspect to be and come across. He understood our desire to incorporate several aspects and ensured things could be done and worked out. He was never cocky in saying any of this. He hand picked Peter Berkhard to be our DJ. I LOVE Peter. Peter became a part of our day even surprising us by calling several days before the wedding to tell us he'd be showing up to our rehearsal event so that he could ensure things were going to run smoothly and perfectly. Peter was giving a laundry list of songs by us as we had a very particular run of songs that we wanted. Peter played them all perfectly, as we wanted, and I cannot thank Peter enough for all he did!!! Truly, he is EXCEPTIONAL!! As well as our DJ, we also had a bagpiper we arranged through Kelly Productions and John Kelly assisted again to hand pick the right piper for us. The Monterey Strings Duo were also a wonderful addition to both our welcome dinner (which we hosted outside, to their accompaniment) and our ceremony and cocktail hour. The only reason this is four stars instead of five is that they had a bit of a mix up where they tried to overbook the strings duo, getting two weddings in in one day (which would have meant that my ceremony had to be pushed back, even though I booked them almost a year in advance). I found this company listed on our venues recommended list of vendors. After researching all of them I found myself coming back to Kelly Productions, specifically for one of their artists: Mark Banks. His voice came out of my speakers with such depth I was amazed. Honestly his rendition of "Hallelujah" was so unbelievable I was in tears. But I loved the fact that not only did he perform DJ services, he performed with his guitar as well. This included an elegant welcome reception on friday night, our wedding ceremony, and cocktail hour. Working with John was a pleasure. We spoke multiple times and he learned what we wanted. Then he made recommendations for us from all the musicians he works with. I was able to listen to their music on his website and make our selection. (We weren't able to hear the acts live because we live up in San Francisco and couldn't make the trip down). The musicians that we selected were incredibly professional and very good. On Friday night, Dizzy & Grover performed at our welcome reception with a mix of jazz, swing, and nice background music. Dizzy's voice was soulful and Grover's guitar playing was enchanting. They also took a couple special requests from us. DoS is a string trio of a father and his two daughters. They were phenomenal! I had looked into several options for DJs and unfortunately our venue, The Perry House, only allowed you to use certain vendors because they have a unique system there. This meant I could only choose from DNA and Kelly Prductions. We were on an incredibly tight budget and DNA was very expensive. Kelly productions was very willing to work with us to stay within our budget and we didn't have to sacrifice quality or services which was great! Peter was amazing. I had certain songs that I wanted to hear and ones that I didn't. He accomodated both perfectly! He was entertaining and really made sure the flow of the wedding went off without a hitch.
