We've been using DJ Ella cleaners for the past 10 years. We go weekly. They know us. This photo shows what they did to a pair of my husband's slacks that he had made for our daughters wedding. Their response to this error was horrible. Tried to blame it on us! Like our iron has that warning on the underside of it? They know their equipment does. Then they said because the tag was removed, they couldn't be sure it was their responsibility! They were able to remove the burn, so I went back. The next time I went I was told that I had to "read their notice on their responsibility policy" before dropping off any more laundry!!! As if it were MY fault! read more

They ruined an expensive blouse and attempted to place the blame on the boutique from which it was purchased. Horrible do not use!!! Have only been using them for 6 months and they already damaged 4 shirts that were new condition! Then they didn't even say anything they just leave a little card on the shirt like hey we damaged your shirt after you already paid for it and went home with it !?!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS CLEANERS!!! They RUINED a dress of mine and then asked me to bring in the receipt claiming they would reimburse me the cost of the dress. So I brought in the receipt showing that i paid $154 dollars for the dress from Show Me Your Mumu. The manager called me the next day claiming that he found the same dress on some other site (but would not tell me what site it was so that I could not look it up and verify for myself the site or that it was the same dress). He then said that because he found what he claimed to be the same dress on this knock-off site for $100 that he would either order me the dress through the knock off site or only give me $100 dollars for it (even though I had brought in the receipt showing that I paid substantially more for it). But there was no way for me to verify that he would be ordering the same dress! There are way too many other dry cleaners out there to put up with a store that ruins your clothes and then tries to cheat you and refuses to compensate you fairly for it. On July 6, 2019 @ 3:00pm I dropped off 6 shirts and 2 pants, one black and one white. The lady behind the counter held up my white pants, said something in Spanish, and began laughing. Then another lady behind the counter began laughing too. I felt so embarrassed. What did she say that was so funny about my white pants? I don't understand. I do know that after I pick up my clothes on Monday after 5pm that will be the LAST time I set foot in that store ( after over 3 years of using that neighborhood cleaners). I've had my dry cleaning done by a myriad of upper scale dry cleaners near my office over the years. Now that I office from my house, I've started using DJ Ella. I've had dry cleaning AND alterations of all types done here. The prices are amazing. The customer service is great. Admittedly, the strip center can be awkward to access if you're southbound on Ella or westbound on 43rd, but I just plan my stops there accordingly. read more

Horrible customer service! DJ Ella Cleaners ruined my brand new pants that have never been worn. They ripped the clasp out of the pants and shredded the material to the point of no repair. I took the pants back to the cleaners expecting some sort of compensation. Instead all I got was insulted. The lady blamed it on me, with a smug grin on her face, saying the pants must have been too tight and that I busted the clasp. I'm not a complainer and it takes a lot for me to make a complaint. They have broken several buttons and "fried" shirts before that I just let slide, but this was different because I never even had the chance to wear these pants. I still can't believe the treatment I received. The prices may be cheap, but you get what you pay for . . . service and quality is bottom of the barrel. I must agree with poster dw g from 4-19-12 - "the price you pay in replacing damaged clothing far exceeds the money you save." Next time I'll just flush $100 down the toilet and avoid the insults. read more

Horrible customer service. I andmy partner take our shirts in for cleaning with light starch. The price has always been $.99. I started taking the shirts in for cleaning, as my schedule was more flexible. My first two trips, I had no problem. The manager was helpful, and not unpleasant to deal with in my visits. I had taken in smaller numbers of shirts, and pleased with the service, I decided to take in a larger number. This time I did not have the manager wait on me, but one of the other staff Suleimi (or so my ticket states). She began bagging, and ticketing the shirts. She gave me the total, which seemed a bit high, but I paid and left. When I got home, I looked at my pick up slip, and noticed, that the shirt groupings were not 9.90 per 10, but were listed at 12.90. I racked my brain, had starch, and environmental cost raised that significantly in 2 weeks. I called the next morning, and asked to speak with the manager. I asked, how much are men's shirts with light starch. I was told $.99. I said, okay great, I thought so, I have been overcharged. He said no problem, he would fix it. Very kind. He asked for my information, logged in, and then said, oh, they are 2X. That is why. I was blown away. I said, excuse me, and was told again, they are all big shirts. We charge more, it's posted. He said he would look into the charges, and correct the amount. I arrived, to be told by Suleimi, she had talked to him, and checked everything, and all of the shirts were 2X, and the fee was correct. In the future, I would have to pay the full amount. I asked to see where it was posted that different sizes cost different amount, I was directed to an note on the fee sign, that said "additional fees for...pleats, silk, linen, over sized clothing." I said excuse me, and she pointed to "over-sized clothing," and nastily told me here. I was irate. I do apologize. We will never return. A large majority of shirts were size 18, or 18.5. At least a quarter were 17, 17.5. So her fact checking, honesty, and bigotry needs some work. Assuming because I am a large man, that all of the items are the same, and charging more because of your bias is disgusting. I nor my partner wear trench coats, or tents. STAY AWAY. read more

Used this place for past couple of years, and they do a mediocre job. It's always taking a chance on whether clothes will come back clean or worse I've actually received dresses that have come back with pen stains that weren't there before! But when brought to their attention, they will clean it out. Well last straw was receiving my blazer back and having the button bleached white! I called and spoke to owner who says he uses certified cleaning chemicals, well let me let the picture speak for itself! You can see the drastic difference in the coloring of the front button! Don't be so quick to save a few dollars here - ok, more than a few dollars. The prices are very reasonable here, but over the past year, I've discovered why - rush jobs without exercising care and little attention to detail. Several shirts have been ruined because of excessive heat in ironing, broken buttons and the other "prices" you pay using a less expensive cleaner. My two favorites are a jacket that came back with a notice saying "sorry we could not remove this stain" when the stain absolutely did not exist before it went to the cleaners. I'm sorry you couldn't remove the stain you caused either! Second, when they did actually catch a broken button on a pair of pants, they sewed another one on - which did not even remotely match the existing buttons. I wasn't being picky here people, but this was a easy button to match so how this was done so badly, I can't even guess. This cleaner is so convenient to me, I've tried really hard to overlook certain things, but it is time to move on - the price you pay in replacing damaged clothing far exceeds the money you save. read more

This sham of a dry-cleaning establishment lost the trust of my wife and I the minute they ruined a long-time favorite skirt of hers. The yellow skirt came back bleached almost pure white. When I took up the issue with the infuriating staff, they offered no help, mocking my anger over the issue. Several more visits to protest the damage led to no further progress - just more frustration and angry screaming with the staff. The rude service, lack of professionalism and overall crass attitude of the catty group of women who run DJ Ella is exemplary of bad business practices. This dry-cleaner is a joke. Please, take it from someone who was put through hell by this place - do NOT give them your business. I went there for the first time last week and that will be my last time. I dropped of a shirt to be cleaned. At the time of drop off I was asked if I wanted to pay now or when I pick up. I said I would pay when I pick up. When I went to pick up the girl behind the counter said that she had previously pointed out to me that they would only take a cc if its a $10 minimum, and since I only had 1 shirt cleaned I could not pay with a card. Actually, I don't remember her saying that, but anyway I didn't have cash on me so I asked if I could just use my card and get a credit for the remainder. She told me no. I said well what am I supposed to do? She shrugged her shoulders. First of all its illegal to charge a customer for using a credit card. Tight wad businesses don't want to pay the fee for taking credit cards so they pass it on to the customer. I had to go to an ATM, get cash then go pick up my shirt. Ridiculous!! read more
