Amazing! We hired DJ Connection for our a small party to end our kids theater festival and wow! They did not disappoint.. Nick did an incredible job with the kids. Played great music, took requests and even let our dance teams give them music so they could perform for each other and parents. Total good sport. George was responsive, brought everything needed, has a deep song catalog, selected great tunes to get us started and responded to requests with ease. And, the price was very competitive for 3 hours. We only inquired DJ George about a month before our wedding date, we were forced to move and wedding planing got put on hold. Considering how last minuet everything was I feel we had good communication, even up to me asking him to add specific music a day or so before our event. Hired Manny for a 55th & 25th birthday celebration. This was a 70's Disco event with a really mixed bag of 18 - 70 year olds. All I can say is we made the right decision hiding Manny & DJ Connection. Manny arrived 2 hours early and we went over the nights venue. I had spoken with Manny on 3 earlier occasions which I greatly appreciated. Manny was the perfect DJ for our event. We scheduled our wedding for September 2020, initially. Then, COVID happened. We rescheduled for a date in July 2021 and then the hotel we initially booked told us that they would not hire their banquet staff back by then. We ended up having our wedding in Long Beach on July 24, 2021. George (DJ Connections) was so accommodating with the location changes and a few date changes. After searching through several DJs, DJ George seemed to have the most reputable reviews and seemed to be what we were looking for. Even the initial phone interview seemed promising -- DJ George came off friendly and personable. However, after we had already paid our deposit and signed the contract, things quickly changed. DJ George hands-down was the worst vendor I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with, and my biggest and only regret of my wedding day. 1) He was an absolute nightmare to communicate with; and after planning a wedding, I realize how completely essential communication is to the whole process. He took forever to respond, and when we would finally get a hold of him, his emails were often misspelled and incomprehensible, which you'd think would be a simple task for a professional company. His phone calls were never answered and he would only call us back several hours later, only when and if it was convenient to him. 2) His song list was severely lacking, containing mostly only older songs. And, when we provided him with a list of songs that we would like to have played, he refused to find any of them, and instead made us find and download songs to send to him. I would understand this if we were asking for obscure pieces, however these were all from this past decade, most were on the Top Hits Charts, and were all common wedding music. He was essentially a glorified button pusher, as we had to find our own music, create our own playlist, and just have him play the music at the appropriate time. And even then, after we had found all the songs for him, he still played songs that were not on our list and did not play songs that we had specifically requested him to. 3) You'd think after giving him the complete song list, he would be able to follow directions as easy as pressing play, but DJ George even managed to mess up this simple task. Even though we had sent a clear document of what song we wanted to play for our bridal party entrance , he decided to pick his own, and was even giving instructions to our bridal party about how they were not allowed to dance coming into the reception, overriding everything that my own coordinator was saying and everything that we had told him in advance. Had I not realized what he was saying just seconds before the entrance, everyone would have walked in to some traditional classical piece. Obviously the mistake was avoided, but as a bride on her wedding day, the last thing you want to do is to babysit the DJ to make sure he actually does what you've asked him and paid him to do in advance. Even small instructions, like requesting that lights not be brought to the reception, were completely ignored and I myself had to run him down to have them turned off. 4) Although DJ George was given a complete timeline weeks in advance with clear directions down to the minute when each event of the reception was supposed to occur(Father-Daughter Dance, Cake Cutting, etc.), somehow he was unable to read and follow these directions, as he completely messed up the order as well. When we had perfectly planned for the cake cutting to occur first so guests could enjoy their dessert during the parents' dances, he mixed up the order. You'd think for the amount we'd paid him, he'd be able to follow simple instructions and just go down the line of events. Clearly, this was too much for him to handle. 5) His attitude throughout the entire process was extremely arrogant and rude -- even my wedding coordinator reported that she would not choose to work with him again. He even went as far as to assume that he would be receiving a tip before even doing anything for the wedding, as well as hounding our Best Man to make him post a review for him on Yelp. While every other vendor on our team was accommodating, sweet, and helpful, DJ George was the only one that failed to meet these expectations. He constantly gave off the impression that he was better than everyone else, his time was more valuable, and he could not be bothered to do something as simple as downloading songs for our wedding. All in all, each of these would have been excusable had it not been for a WEDDING, one of the biggest days of a person's life, and had we not paid him nearly a thousand dollars for his services. I would have expected something like this if we had hired somebody's cousin's friend...not from a "seemingly" professional company. Or even if we had gotten one of his other DJ Employees. But no, this was DJ George himself and his behavior was absolutely unacceptable. Not nearly worth the amount of money we paid. DO NOT hire him. read more

As a DJ who is the navigator to the wedding reception he didnt seem to care. He got the grooms mom's and dad's name wrong twice! We just hired George for an event recently and we wanted to give him a good review here because we were extremely pleased with his services, and also many of our guests approached us and complimented his work as well. He played a great assortment of music and was very accommodating to our additional songs that we wanted to be played. The volume was just right, plenty loud enough to hear well on the dance floor, but not so loud that you can actually sit at the tables and eat and talk to people. We scheduled DJ Nick for our son's 16th bday. He was GREATTTTT! Arrived early for set-up. Very accommodating to the guests. Had them dancing the entire time...My son wanted to dance the night away under the stars...and that they did, approximately 80 teens. Fun! He let my son come up and scratch a tune. BUYER BEWARE !!!!! ***........Explanation: After careful consideration, we decided to hire DJ GEORGE for our wedding reception......we found him via THUMBTACK - Be VERY Careful about using services from this website (Thumbtack). DJ GEORGE requires a $100.00 deposit to reserve the date & time and this deposit is NOT refundable. We figured everything was going well with our wedding plans so we sent him back the signed contract along with a check for $100.00. Unfortunately, an unforeseen event happened (it was out of our control) and we had to cancel our original wedding plans for Oct 2016. We called DJ GEORGE and explained to him that our plans had changed and would he kindly consider a refund.DJ GEORGE stated the following: "I can't refund you the $100.00 deposit because I told another party who was interested in the same date that I was already booked"......."I'm the good guy here, and you're only losing a $100.00 compared to other DJs who have charged thousands more for a deposit"......."That's the way this business is, other DJs will charge you thousands but I'm the good guy here and I'll give you credit for the $100.00 if you hire me for a party THIS year (2016)"......."This is why I'm the good guy here, as I only charge $100.00 for a deposit and others will charge you more".............If DJ GEORGE was really a "good guy here", as he repeatedly stated, then why didn't he even offer a partial monetary refund? We would have been happy with a 50% refund. And it's apparent to us that DJ George considered a SIX (6) MONTH Advance Notification of Cancellation was TOO SHORT of a notice and NOT acceptable. For lack of better words, DJ GEORGE's attitude was: Tough shyte. Too bad. Not my problem. I got your money and I'm keeping it..............Historically, the month of October will be *filled* with Halloween festivities, so my other point is that DJ GEORGE can easily book another event in place of our wedding day (even though he expressed in our conversation that he would be "hard-pressed" to book an event for that day/evening but of course he made no mention of it; therefore, this is straightforward BS and lies because we all know there will be a gazillion Halloween parties held in the month of October). Sadly, we got the impression that DJ GEORGE didn't think that $100.00 is a lot of money (we were quite insulted and taken back by his comments as mentioned above). DJ GEORGE's ATTITUDE was if a couple is able to spend $$ on a wedding then $100 is "nothing". Seriously? Really? He "assumes" that people who spend money on weddings have the cash flow. This is so far from the truth. We gave DJ GEORGE a SIX MONTH Notification of Cancellation of the event. It's all about principle. DJ GEORGE failed to take into consideration that $100.00 will put food on our table and provide us with gas money, so losing $100.00 does hurt us financially. We believe that a SIX (6) MONTH Notification of Cancellation is MORE than FAIR and allows *plenty* of time and opportunity for DJ GEORGE to schedule another event in place of our wedding day.............So to re-iterate ----- ***BUYER BEWARE***..........YOU, a potential customer (we Stress this implicitly) *must* THINK TWICE and be *ABSOLUTELY SURE and CERTAIN* that you have NO plans to cancel your event because once you give DJ GEORGE your deposit and signed contract, you will NEVER get a monetary refund from him no matter what your reason is for cancelling your event. Period. And the impression we got from DJ GEORGE, this also includes a death in the family, NO REFUND, no ifs, no ands, no buts. DJ GEORGE may have great ratings for delivering his services but it's apparent that no one has had the unfortunate experience of requesting a refund from DJ GEORGE, even if only partial (nope, he never offered). We would give a half star rating for DJ GEORGE regarding a refund and customer service, but there is not an option for this and we don't believe he deserves a one (1) star rating at all. By the way, all the other vendors (other than DJ GEORGE) we signed up with and had to cancel our plans gave us no attitude, no problem, no questions asked (Sweet! We hired DJ Nick for our wedding ceremony and reception and we couldn't be happier. Our wedding was small and most guest were in their 50s and not into dancing much. The kids were the life of the party dancing all night long, DJ Nick even got on the dance floor to teach the kids how to do the electric slide, and gangman style. Everyone was cheering and couldn't get enough of the show they put on. Other guest are talking about how they want him to play at their future wedding, and sweet 16. DJ Nick was a huge help picking out songs, i was clueless on what to play for the grand entrance and when we walked off the ceremony site but he handled everything. I was busy planning for the wedding i put the music on the backburner till just 2 weeks prior and he didn't flinch. We had a cake in the face bet instead of the dollar dance and his announcements helped me not get cake in the face by $2. overall, I wouldn't change a thing. read more
