Most of the things we had were excellent. The only low point was the charcuterie board. The cheese and meat choices were good. The bread that was served with it was hard as a rock. Otherwise, an excellent meal with good service.

In Ventura's industrial area, the Cave is a nice, cozy restaurant that is hidden in the Ventura Wine Company shop. We were greeted by live music which made a lively atmosphere. They have the self vending wine machine with a decent variety of wines for all. I'm going to be honest - I did question the pour size. We ended up buying a bottle of wine at dinner instead and I'm pretty sure that was the economical choice plus it gave me peace of mind. I will say - the plating of the food is strange. Giant plates for small portions never really sits well with me. The kitchen's "thinly sliced" waygu steak was also off putting visually. The Jumbo Scallops w/Leek & Truffle Risotto ($46) is a must order. Scallops perfectly pan seared and that risotto I would eat by itself. The Lemon Chardonnay sauce was incredible. The Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs ($39) was okay. The meat fell apart as it should. The red wine sauce was okay but lacked depth. The creamy mashed potatoes were very good and seasoned perfectly. Wasn't mad that I tried it but would not order again. Wagyu Top Sirloin 12 oz. ($48) was very good despite the poor slicing. The creamy mushroom sauce was perfect to add some flavor but not overpower the protein. The Pepperoni Pizza ($18) was decent for my son. My daughter planned to order the Seafood Pasta until she saw all of her favorite things combined: Mac and cheese, bacon and pizza - the Mac and Cheese Pizza ($21) was honestly top notch. It wasn't overly heavy, the depth of flavor was great and it's extremely tasty. The spicy aioli was top notch. Overall, a good experience at the Cave. I recommend giving it a try.

I had the lobster roll and the lobster itself was good and tasted fresh I felt like it needed to be seasoned with something more besides just drizzling the sauce on top. The lobster portion was a little small too. The fries were good tho. The happy hour deals seem super good! I will have to come next time and update this review.

No more abundance of crabs to buy and take home. Ended up eating there to try the food anyway. Service was attentive and unhurried despite having a huge party of football fans the day we came. Did have to flag them down for water refills every once in a while since they sat us in the back corner. My fish and chips unfortunately did not have a shattery shell like I was hoping it would. It was a little soggy on the underside. Clam chowder had reduced a little too much and had gone a little gloopy but still tasted yummy. Lots of clams inside. Portions are pretty generous for the price compared to other seafood spots. All other items were good but unfortunately no longer the drive we used to make for this spot. Would definitely eat here again if we're in the area however.

Parking was super easy with plenty of spaces, which was a huge plus. The restaurant is right next to the water and had such chic, romantic vibes--perfect for a special occasion. It was a fixed menu, but we were still able to choose our entrees. We started with a salad and lobster bisque, which was my first time trying it, and it was so good. For my entrée, I got the braised short rib and it was AMAZING--super juicy and full of flavor. I also ordered an espresso martini, which was delicious. I added a photo of our drinks because they were all so good. Dessert was a choice between tiramisu and cheesecake, and both were delicious. After dinner, we walked by the ocean next to the restaurant, which made the night even better. Definitely an amazing Valentine's dinner!

We sat outside, which was the best choice because there was a singer and, while she was really good, her amps went up to 11. She was the highlight. I ordered the French onion soup and it was ok. Average. We shared the Dippin Trio, which was ok. A little above average. The dips were tasty and there was enough pita. However, LeeAnn got the eggs Benedict and it was subpar, at best. The eggs were overcooked, which to me is a crime when you order a benny. The point of a benny is the mix of runny yolk and hollendaise sauce. Speaking of the hollendaise, it tasted like it was from a package. The taste was far too sweet and a bit stale...and no lemon to speak of. Just not good. Plus, there was a piece of eggshell under the first egg. Not sure if there was more as that was the first and last bite taken. The service was good. They were kind enough to take the Benedict off the bill, but made it sound like it was a special favor. That's mediocre service as far as I'm concerned. Needless to say, we've no need to go back. Shame.

Loveeee Toppers!!! So glad we got introduced to Toppers and it's a must everytime we're in Oxnard…read more I don't think I've ever gotten a bad pizza from here so this is a long overdue review. Our favorites are the BBQ Chicken, hot honey, Hawaiian heat, chipotle carnitas, and garlic chicken...so pretty much all of them! You seriously can't go wrong, every bite is loaded with flavor and sauce and everything pairs perfectly. They also have really nice outdoor seating that is so peaceful just watching the sailboats. This time we did the small BBQ chicken which had 8 slices and was enough for 2 people. It was too good and I forgot to take a full picture but the crust is perfect and the sauce has so much flavor. The cilantro and onions also compliment it perfectly, just wish there were more cilantro lol. Staff is also kind and they deliver your pizza to your table!

After finding an open table on the patio and we waited for our table buzzer to go off. Food came rather quickly but wading through the teens at the soda machine and the around the salad bar, it was quite an obstacle course. Once safely back at our waterside table we ate our tasty sandwiches. A bit to much lettuce for me, but the additions of red onions evened it out. A ok stop for pastrami, next time I'll try the pizza.

I wanted to try it, and give you the benefit of the doubt... so much for that, I mean how hard is it to screw up a boarshead meat sandwich? . Based on the 3 meat sandwiches last time, and the ones I saw being eaten while we were there, it definitely wasn't the usual meat. Or WAS IT???. BUT I EVEN took a picture of it. Just in case you came back and got rude in your response like you have in the past when you don't like when others don't leave you a good review. . We even came back in TODAY and wanted to give it ONE LAST TRY and so i ordered a hot Italian and it was LACKING meat and any flavor, the sandwich is literally the smallest SUB i have had in 37 years! . so Now.
