I love Dixie Nutrition! Lauren is always so helpful to me when I ask for things I'm looking for. The only drawback is the Flyers advertising products that are not directly supplied to them. Fantastic little health food store with an awesome selection of supplements, herbs and teas. I was having a little trouble adapting to the altitude in Cedar City and went in looking for some assistance. I was most pleasantly surprised to find Tibetan Rhodiola in a bagged tea! It helped me adapt over the next day. They have some good frozen food in the back too. read more

I'd like to title this "Mediocre Selection with a Huge Helping of Attitude." Yep, I've been forced to come here (because it's all Cedar has had) since I moved. The majority of my purchases are either through Vitacost, though sometimes I'll also get things at Costco or Natural Grocers in St. George. However, every once in a while I come to Sunshine out of necessity, and I am always blown away that they are still in business. In addition to having a very poor selection, their prices are over the top and their employees are absolutely awful. I was there once when a young child knocked something over and he was screamed at, simply for being a kid. Not acceptable. The last time I went it was before Thanksgiving and I was looking for a few whole cloves in their bulk section. They were out of stock, and rather than apologizing, I was asked, 'What do you even need these for anyway?' That was the end for me. With Natural Grocers opening in Cedar soon, this place will no longer be necessary at all. Maybe they could learn a thing or two about business and treating people with respect. read more

I was a strong and faithful supporter of this store I didn't mine the higher prices, but today was my last visit. I will no longer support Sunshine Nutrition. Besides regularly buying healthy snacks and supplements I would often drive 10 miles just to buy their frozen yogurt because this is the only place in town I known that has Stevia yogurt. Every time I would walk in for yogurt I felt like some of the girls behind the counter would get bothered I was there just for Yogurt. They would give me a look like omg here we go again!. One of them would always complain it was so difficult to serve and for some reason every time she was the one to serve us and the owner or someone else wasn't around to see her the machine magically didn't work or they were fresh out of Stevia yogurt. She knew that's what we wanted. Today I walk in and saw they had coconut Stevia on the board I was so happy my drive wasn't in vain, so I went to the back grab a cookie and walk back to the counter to my surprise the girl that always complains about servings us yogurt had cleared the board and before we even asked for it she told us " Oh we are all out of Stevia yogurt " I honestly think this wasn't the case, I honestly think she just didn't wanted to deal serving the yogurt because I know she doesn't like to and it was 30 min before closing and everything was cleaned out already. This is not the first time she does this, the machine is either not working, being cleaned or this one is my favorite the ice cream was to cold so she turned it off to thaw it up some, so we need it to wait till the ice cream got cold again, but when we said we would wait the ice cream was fine. Not all the employees do this, Amy is great and the machine always works with her and she is always happy to sale yogurt to us, but the rest I always felt I was bothering them because that is exactly how they made us feel. We would always take turns to see who was walking in the store to buy the yogurt because we were tired of the attitude, the excuses or lies just to get yogurt, we dealt with them for such a long time because this is the only place we could get stevia yogurt but we are done with this place. Management if it such a headache to sale yogurt or to keep the machine running just STOP selling it, and please stop making customers feel unwelcome if all they want is yogurt. read more

I'll be back and I'll probably never go to the other natural food store tgat just came into town, cuz this place is more connected to the local community and has charm! This is a review by a vacationing vegetarian Hallelujah, there are soy products in Utah. None are to be found in plain old supermarkets here. But this store is well stocked with everything a veggie and/or health conscious traveler could need and the prices aren't too bad considering the virtual monopoly they have on most of their SKUs. read more

When we planned our stay in the nearby Duck Creek Village, we were told that the only grocery option around was Wal*Mart. We weren't too happy about that, and were intrigued to stumble upon Sunshine Nutrition. Although the produce section was small, we were able to get fresh fruits and veggies to last us a few days, as well as eggs, vegetarian sausages, and more. We didn't need to shop anywhere else! You'd think that we're spoiled, being from Los Angeles, a place with Whole Foods and health nuts galore. But we found ourselves wishing there was a small, health-focused market like this near our home. Another review said this store would "sink" in a bigger city -- I disagree! Service was friendly but passive - nobody offered to help us, but they were perfectly nice when we were checking out. read more

Clean, well-lit, reasonably priced: what a delight to find such a well stocked store. We were 300 miles from home when we discovered our unscented Dr. Bonner's Magic Soap had not left home with us. Alas, it was home alone, and we were without. Thanks to Sunshine Nutrition, and lovely Heather, we were able to continue our ten day journey sans pseudo scent. It was a good day, and a great trip. I wrote a review a few weeks ago which it seems did not get published. Briefly, I was complaining about Sunshine selling food at the discount table that was past its expiration date. I see that other reviewers wrote favorably about this place, citing the friendly, helpful staff and reasonably amount of healthy stuff there. But they sell food that is past its sell-by date. What is it about this that they don't get? I had opened a box of soymilk and found that it was coagulated - solidified and then looked at the the date and saw that it had expired - and was expired already before I bought it - according to the date on the receipt i had. I do not always trouble to put on my reading glasses to read the fine print when I buy things - and I was trusting to the integrity of these people. I took the soymilk back next time I went to the store and the receipt to show them their mistake. I expected them to be embarrassed and correct this unacceptable mistake. But instead they were offended. They opened the box and the soymilk was not coagulated at that time - OK; but there is no excuse for making mistakes like this with food. They claimed that the food on the discount table was there because it was past the sell-by date and was not necessarily bad. Further they pointed out to me their sign that I had never noticed that stated clearly that they do not make refunds on discounted items. So they refused to give me back my 2 dollars and 50 cents. After that I was going to nuke a packet of rice and put on my reading glasses just to make sure it was not past its expiration date and saw that it too was out-of-date. So now I am writing a second time to reiterate that this store sells bad food and people can get food poisoning from their products and they insulted me by standing by their store policy - which is violation of standards that are set by law. I won't go back to Sunshine. You can do what you feel is right. read more

I've been to this store a handful of times. I always ended up spending like $70 for a few things and I was ok with the store even tho it was expensive until I met the owner (?) A really unfriendly woman who seemed to frighten her employees and who shamed me for opening the box of a $12 bottle of bachs flower remedy. I didn't attempt to open the bottle - I just wanted to see what kind of container it was before purchasing it as the box was nondescript. Please be nicer!!! I want to be a fan of Sunshine Nutrition, but they leave a lot to be desired. Their fresh produce usually looks like it has been run over by a bus, and their prices are out of line compared to similar stores in St George (sometimes $2-3 more for products under $10--that adds up pretty fast). It is as though they are unaware that they have competition. However, they are the only place in Cedar City with Tempeh, soy ice cream/ rice dream, and some of my favorite hippy products, so I will still give them my business. And at least the store is clean and the staff is reasonably helpful. read more

These guys were a godsend for me. I am in a tiny town at a high elevation and dying from pollen allergy and elevation sickness. I was so happy this little town had a a health food store at all. I was thrilled when they had such a large selection, friendly service and great prices. The cashiers helped me find every thing that I needed. Great health food option in a small town! Coming from a place that abounds with health stores and whole foods, I wasn't holding out much hope of finding a place to get some healthy and natural necessities. I'm in luck! This store has a pretty good selection, not extensive and I'll still need to go to St George or order on Amazon, but great for quick things. The place is clean and laid out well, the staff nice and helpful, and I love the little vitamin and snack bar sized baskets! The prices are reasonable and they even have a rewards program for every dollar you spend. Will definitely be back a lot! read more

As mentioned many of the items are pricey, but it's a small store in a small market. Modest organic produce selection that you do have to beware of sometimes. They had some sale priced organic avocados up front once, grabbed three. They were very ripe but upon cutting them open they were rotten. I should have known better, but there was a deliberateness to it's placement - a store shouldn't make you feel like a sucker. You can find some little gems here and there, but better to save your health food needs and travel 50 miles south to St George. read more

What a great shop! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. If you can get some of the fresh carrot juice it is amazing. Nice selection and reasonably priced. This is a great place--unlike what others here have said, it's always clean, has very good produce, and the staff is always friendly, courteous and helpful. They are the only health food type store in Cedar City and they have stayed in business, in a tough economy and small town, for many years. Well, I just had an absolutely AWFUL experience at Sunshine Health Foods in Cedar City. Recently, I bought some mango mochi from there. It was marked down to 99 cents, which was way cheaper than usual, but I didn't think much of it. After eating it, I became violently ill for almost three days. I could barely get out of bed. Come to find out, it had expired FIVE years ago!!! Five years! I went in today to talk to them about it and after I told the woman cashiering what had happened, an older man (who I presume is the owner) came out and started the process of refunding it to me even though I never asked him to. When I told him everything, he became extremely defensive and rude as all hell. He continued to make unbelievably lame excuses as we argued. Then when I asked for the box back to keep as proof, he took it and sharply refused to return it to me because I had "already been refunded." Refunded against my will, maybe! He then claimed that the staff knew it was old since it was put on the clearance rack, but didn't know it was five years out of date. (I don't know, just a crazy idea here, but maybe you should check the expiration date before selling it to people??!) I've never had anyone be so condescending toward me in my life. He also asked if I knew for sure that the mochi was what caused it, and if I had blood work done and stuff to PROVE it. He actually said that!!! Anyway, I'm not sure where to go from here, but I am incredibly frustrated and thought venting might make me feel slightly better. Which it did, actually. read more

A recent study found that basically everything you purchase such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, cleaners, sunscreen, etc. has some type of toxic ingredient. Two companies earned an A+. Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps and Seventh Generation products. I've lived in Cedar City for six years now. Sunshine is the only store in Cedar City that carries these products and yes, they will be more expensive, but your body will thank you.
