Long-time Smith's customer--I shop at Smith's or Kroger whenever I can--and this is absolutely the worst one I've been to, anywhere. It is so crowded and yet massive, so it takes you forever to shop. Their greatest sin: Despite the crowds, there were only two cashiers working, and there were lengthy lines at both self-check locations. Besides that, they were out of basic things. Who runs out of, for instance, strawberries in the middle of summer (and the produce person said, "who knows when we'll get a delivery")? And even though it's such a big store, they don't have a very wide variety of goods that are available at other, much smaller Smith's. read more

This is a pretty small grocery store compared to California grocery stores in my neighborhoods. Layout was a bit strange and was hard to find some things. They don't serve anything other than beer. It's owned by Ralph's/Kroger which if I knew I would have used my rewards #. The aisles aren't very wide. I liked the self checkout option. Just have to give a shout out to this store! I'm not sure who this girl is but she's helped me check out a few times now. Young, long dark brown hair. She's incredible at her job and full of life. She's super fast too which is sooo nice for a check out cashier, most are so slow. But her energy is amazing and she totally deserves a raise! Linda at self check out is rude and impatient with the customers, she also needs help. The machines are always flashing. The lines are very long and only 1/2 of the checkout counters are open. The produce was wilted , we did not buy it, Very poor management. Sadly this place has gone downhill it used to be our favorite store, not anymore. It has High prices and terrible management. I remember when the manager used to always walk around and send you to the quickest line and keep the lines moving. We will not shop here anymore. read more

This Smith's is seriously going downhill! Customer service is hit or miss, depending on the day. But what really pissed me off is when I put in an order at the bakery for donuts. Over a week before the event, I went in and placed an order for donuts. The lady said it wouldn't be a problem, they'd have it ready for me. However, the day before the event, I got a text message stating that they wouldn't be able to fulfill my order. This made me scramble to another bakery, which did fulfill my order. But who the hell agrees to an order and then bails the day before?!?! I will NEVER use Smith's bakery again! And I don't recommend anyone else do either! As far as grocery shopping, this isn't the worst Smith's, not the greatest either! Sad to say, Walmart is actually cleaner! This Smith's bathroom is not always clean. In the pharmacy, I had to ask where the kids' cold medicine was because I couldn't find it. Go figure, it was under the sign for laxatives. Until recently, their doors on the fridges were broken or missing. Meat is mediocre quality, especially for what they charge. Produce department is seriously lacking in variety! We were headed up the canyon for the night, back to the campground, and we thought it prudent to grab a few supplies for the morning. Nothing too crazy--we were just sleeping in the campground and eating meals in town--but we wanted to have the option of noshing a few things in the morning before feeling too compelled to come down and have a proper meal. This Smith's made the perfect stop. Some water, a couple of bananas, and I of course had forgotten some toiletry or something like that (toothbrush?) and they had it. Look, this Smith's is a lot like many of the others. As a Kroger sub-brand, it's got the house brand, and the name brands. It's not the fanciest place, but it's not one of those terrible discount warehouses, either. We were in, we were out, and we got the supplies. It was a genius move, indeed. We woke up in the morning and after some stream-side yoga, we went for a walk to an incredible overlook, munched the bananas, and put our hands on a giant stump to make a promise to live our best life. read more

I visited this Smith's because I was hungry for dinner. I didn't want to go to a regular restaurant... just wanted to pick up something fast and easy to eat in a hotel room. I'm so glad I made this decision. Smith's was clean and employees (with the one exception of the man working at the deli counter) went out of their ways to help me. As I looked around, an employee stopped to ask if I found everything I needed. When I asked a question of another employee, she stopped to have a little chat. I eventually chose fruit and a variety of deli salads. Deli salads just aren't what you want on a regular basis. They are not made with the freshest ingredients like you would use at home and are made in bulk. This deli counter was no different. The salads were nourishing and fine, but I would not call them tasty or flavorful. The deli area, though, was really nice with lots of drink options. It really was a perfect place to pick up a quick meal. I also wanted some wine and wasn't sure if they carried it (I'm from Vegas and this was Utah). I learned that coolers aren't wine. They carry beer and coolers, but no bottled wine. There was a vast array of options once I understood the difference. The prices were reasonable and I would definitely return. read more

I am from Indiana where a Smiths is actually called Kroger. I have a Kroger card and it worked at Smith's! And it is just like Kroger if you have been to Kroger. Wonderful staff always stocked and even more to choose from packed into a smaller store. Definitely recommend over going to Walmart. read more

Store is pretty beat down. Not impressed. Honestly haven't been in there since they initiated the mask policy. They were the first grocery to do so in Cedar. A little cheaper than Lin's, but not worth it. We do curbside at Lin's, it's free and they were the last to cave to the pressure from the mask proponents. read more

I've shopped in many many grocery stores but have never come across one that is in such dirty condition. I'm actually surprised the health dept has not shut them down. I tried to say something but was threatened by store employees with physical violence. It's bad enough this place does not take cleanliness serious but to physical threaten people concerned for their own safety is just way overboard. Thomas Jefferson and I stopped here last Friday on our way up to Brian Head for our weekend of (him) skiing and (I) Tubing. It was snowing... and I'm not talking timid snow either I am talking coming down in HUGE ASS flakes! This is the grocery store you visit before going on to Zion, Grand Canyon, Brian Head, Strawberry Valley or Duck Creek Area. They have everything you could want, but remember they don't sell wine or the other spirits if you need that. The service is always very friendly. The store is always well stocked. I have to say I love the other touristy things you can find there, too. My boyfriend bought one of those Hawaiian visors with the fake spiked hair sewn in. I love things that make me laugh and let me tell you we got a lot of mileage out of that crazy hat! Even his 80 year old dad has worn that crazy hat! This store seems to be very in tune with their customers and very patient with the Vegas crowd that comes in. They have a lot of hiking/camping/fishing accessories. It's just fun to go in there even if you don't need a lot of groceries. read more

The only reason I give this business 3 Stars is based on their gas station. I did not actually visit the market. There was quite a wait for a pump, maybe because of their location and price for gas. Coming from Vegas, I found the price of Pepsi and cigarettes a bit high. The location was very convenient if you're going to Brian Head, or Duck Creek... You'll need gas on each direction. The level of service was excellent. I have never felt more welcome. They had a great selection of food and snacks! I would recommend this location to all the people in Cedar City Utah, and anyone driving through. read more

Normally, I would give Smith's a 5 start review -- I really do like to shop there...particularly because I can earn rewards to use towards discounts on gasoline (which always seems to be going up). However, in the last week they have stopped accepting Visa credit cards. Cedar City Smith's needs so much needed attention and love! It is extremely run down. The store is too small for the area and all of the tourists. Whom ever takes inventory needs some additional training. The shelves are always empty and items unavailable. It would be nice to go to one store in town instead of a couple of stores trying to find things on your grocery list. I live in town and it's always like this. Very sad! This is a great Smith's. It has a nice 'small town' feel to it, even though it looks like all other Smith's I've been in. The gal at the register was super nice, and while we let our 1 year old road trip companion get out some wiggles, all of the customers coming in and out were very friendly. Smith's always as to seem to have some good deals. We were sucked in by their Easter candy display and definitely partook of some of the little Cadbury chocolate egg things. It was the perfect place to stop and grab some stuff for the rest of our trip. read more

Nice big store with great sales. I could not believe how helpful and friendly the staff was. They have great sales and overall the prices are very good. Hugh selection of organic produce at reasonable.prices. I needed some odd items and the lady took me all around the store to find them. Unlike many stores in small towns the bathroom is handicapped accessible which was a relief when you are travelling with a family member in a wheel chair. Update: when my car broke down late on a rainy night and my cell phone was not working they helped me by lending me a phone, giving me a place to hang out until I got the car fixed and giving me encouraging words. While the prices are great, the store needs a lot of work in the cleanliness department. I had gotten food poisoning from food here 3 times in one year (never having had it before), the floors are sticky, and the carts are always gross and have trash in them. The staff can also be rude when stocking, having their carts in the middle of aisles and not trying to help or apologize if you're trying to get by or grab something. The checkout staff is nice though, and their gas points are great too at least! read more

Coming from Fred Meyer country, this sister store made us feel like we were at Freddies. Clean store, very friendly staff with plenty to choose from. Having a Smith's card and using their app, you can really enjoy some great discounts on food and household items. Items were well stocked and other than having to work around some shelf stocking activities, my first experience there was very positive. This will be my store of choice on my regular trips to Cedar City. Fuel is available at this station but there are not that many fuel islands and they were busy when I stopped. Could be a bit stressful trying to line up for fuel during peak times but probably still well worth the discount off of fuel. read more

I only go to Smiths now if I have to. The customer service is very poor. I found most of the employees to be rude, lazy, and inconsiderate. But the worse thing is the childish, gossiping and rude behavior both employees and management have towards there customers. I have watched and over herd the cashers and management talk badly about customers once the customers are out of ear shot. One time I was in line to check out, a young man had just bought some cigarettes and left the line. The customer behind him and the cashier started to make fun of him, saying how they both hoped he got cancer from smoking, and they said it loudly enough for me to hear it, and I had one other person in front of me. Several people herd this and were offended by the cashiers rude remarks about the young man. I wasn't shocked by this, as I had seen this kind of behavior from Smiths employees before. Some of the employees act as if they are being put upon if a customers asks for help or needs assistance. Doing their jobs seems to be a hardship for this Smiths employees. I once saw a casher treat an elderly lady like trash simple because the elderly lady changed her mind about a product she had purchased. The casher actually had to do her job, and take the item off the purchase, the cashier treated the lady like trash, no respect at all. The cashier continued to give rude, harsh looks at the elderly lady as she left the store, and made mean remarks about the lady to another cashier, saying that "people like the elderly lady should be shot for being so stupid". To be perfectly honest , if I ever hear or see another employee of Smiths be rude to some one or to myself again I am going to start reporting them and this store to the Smiths corporate office. I was on vacation, passing through Cedar City, and needed a few things, so I stopped at Smiths. I had a horrible experiences at this store. Not being from this city or nor knowing this store, I had to ask for help in finding an item. The employees I asked help from, either ignored me or acted like I was bothering them. What I got, instead of help, was a lot of eye rolling and what a "what ever" attitude. The very worse of them was the cashier, she couldn't be bothered to even acknowledge me, the items I bought were tossed roughly into the plastic bags with no concern as to any damage she may have caused, the bag, in turn were shoved at me. My change was shoved into me hand and I was completely ignored, and I was made to feel like dog crap on the bottom of a shoe. How ever the older gentleman behind me was treated like he was not only human but well liked. Judging from the little talk I over herd, he attended the same church as this cashier, so he was treated very well. I guess to be treated with even simple respect at Smiths you have to be a customer in good standing, and not just another customer. Do not shop at Smiths if you expect to be treated with respect, in fact I would advice anyone to not shop at Smiths at all.. I guess good customer service is not high priority at Smiths. read more
