I called Dixie Lee Motors about the Toyota GR86 they had listed and spoke with Pat. During our initial conversation, Pat gave me his personal phone number so I could contact him directly about the vehicle. I was seriously considering buying this GR86 and was comparing it with another one in Frankfort, Kentucky. When I later called the personal number Pat had given me, his attitude was completely different. I asked what they could do for an out-the-door price, and he told me they were firm at only $500 off the listed price. I had no problem with them being firm on the price--the issue was how unnecessarily rude and unprofessional he was about it. I felt like I was bothering him just by asking a normal question about a vehicle I was seriously considering purchasing. I noticed Dixie Lee Motors has around a 3.7-star rating, and after my experience, I understand why. A customer shouldn't be treated poorly simply for asking about pricing, especially when they're genuinely considering spending tens of thousands of dollars with the dealership. I spent several weeks looking for the right Range Rover. I found the one that checked all the boxes on CarGurus. As the ad instructed I called Pat Stidham, with Dixie Motors and inquired about the vehicle. Even though it was advertised with the tow package (see picture attached) I had to double check with Pat when I called. I explained this is a must as we have a boat and I sold my truck. When I asked Pat, he said, "Yes it does," without missing a beat. I could tell that the car was well taken care of so I asked some more clarifying questions and informed him I would get the financing from my credit union and show up with a check. A few days later I set up a time to drive and ultimately purchase the vehicle. When I showed up, Pat walked me to the Range Rover. I immediately noticed from the rear that there was no Tow hitch in view. I asked Pat, with my wife standing next to me, "Does this have a tow hitch"? Again he stated, "Yeah it's behind the plastic piece," and pointed to it. I've never owned a Land Rover before so I went to the plastic piece, pulled it off and there was no tow hitch. Pat look like a deer in headlights. I guess he expected me to take his word for twice and drive away. I told him I couldn't do the deal and this was very frustrating for me. I not only wasted several weeks looking, but also took out financing and then missed out on my 2nd choice as it already sold. I was also out $100 for an Uber there and back. Pat offered to reimburse me, but never said I'm sending you a check. Made it sound more of a gesture that I didn't believe at this point and rightly so. He has my address from the bill of sale and I won't beg a business to do the right thing. All of this adds to the frustration of the real issue, which is "False Advertising." I did not make a huge deal of this when I was there yet only showed the frustration on my face. I was defeated and just wanted to get back home. When I returned home, I emailed Pat to let him know of my disappointment and all the things mentioned in this review. Pat took ZERO responsibility and instead told me they did not advertise that it had a tow hitch on their personal website and if I could find it to, please show him. What?!? This was his defense in both emails. First of all, I asked Pat twice if it had a tow hitch and he said out of his mouth twice that it did. Also, I told him that I never looked at their website as I found the car on CarGurus where they advertise. After Pat seemed unapproachable and very incapable of rectifying the situation, I asked for the President/Owner to give me a call. Pat emailed me back with yet again the same excuses about advertising on their website. I've now given them one week for the owner to call me and sort this out and have yet to receive a call so I'm now forced to leave a negative review and file a case with the Better Business Bureau for "False Advertising". It's a shame that a business which has been around for quite some time and talks constantly about their good reputation would handle a situation so poorly and not allow me to speak to the owner. Visiting a used car lot is as high on my list of things to do as getting my lady physical - really, really low. But as I was in the market for a year old Honda Civic and they had 2, I made the trip over there and ended up with a reasonably priced new to me car! Stock: Dixie seems to specialize in higher end used cars, I saw a lot of forgein pretty fancy looking things on the lot. The Civics were a little out of place and (I was told) trade-ins for something fancier from the lot. Customer Service: Actually really nice guys. I never felt pressure and when I told them exactly what I wanted they listened to me (unlike the actual Honda dealerships in town trying to convince me to lease, lease, lease) I walked away with less of a payment than I expected and they hand delivered my new floor mats and license plate to my work & even put it on for me. Quality - my car has never had a problem (knock on wood) but cant really say if thats because of them or just a trusty old Honda. On 2nd thought: I discovered at Dixie, in an EBay listing, a car that I always wanted. It looked lovely,the dealership lot had many really nice looking cars and salesman Pat was a gentleman and seemed quite fair. We drove over 700 miles to Nashville and bought the car. It was shiny, pretty and seemed to be everything Pat promised and I desired. When we got back to Pa after a 12 hour interstate highway drive,I took the nice performance car that cost in excess of $30000 to be inspected. Much to my shock the inspector informed me that 3 of the tires had a tread depth maximum of 4/32 nds which barely passes inspection and the 4 th tire was a generic unmatched tire. Dixie and Pat sent us onto the interstate highways for 12 hours on at best a very marginal and potentially unsafe tires. Pat claimed I should have noticed the tire depth in my personal inspection and he claimed to have told me the tires were mismatched. Neither happened! Pat forwarded$100 to me as some recompense on my $850 new set of tires. What have I learned: Not all that glimmers is solid gold, At times book covers can indeed be deceptive, Buyer beware....... It troubles me to write this review, as Dixie really seemed like a righteous car dealer and Pat a like man. Draw your own conclusions after reading my experience. It is a shame Pat has taken my factual review of what happened and grossly distorted the experience It was not 30 days, it was a about 14 days or as soon as I could get my car to inspection. He never ever mentioned mismatched tires or tires that were barely minimum in safety parameters We certainly inspected the car as he described and as stated by me .... we also are not professional car buyers and expected quality tires on a $30000 plus performance car ! This was, by far, my worst vehicle purchase ever. I was fascinated by the look and power of a fully loaded X5 for sale by Dixie Motors. I should have done a better job researching known issues with the BMW N63 engine. Nonetheless, I took the vehicle for a test drive. All seemed well, so I took the plunge and made the purchase. Here are a few things that happened in the first year of ownership. 1. After a few days, I consistently smelled burning oil. The curprit was found to be cracked CCV hoses. I saved money by replacing them myself. 2. I noticed the storage door in the truck would not stay in the upright position when opened. That's because the gas shock was completely missing. I purchased a new one and installed it. 3. After a few months, the vehicle had multiple misfires, check engine lights etc. Doing what I could, I replaced the spark plugs and coils. Within a few days, the issue returned, vehicle in limp mode. Turns out, the N63 engine is known to have leaking injectors. I called BMW and they said no to servicing the vehicle under the N63 Customer Care package offering. I called the extended warranty company, purchased through Dixie. They recommended a local repair shop and I had the vehicle towed there. Well...the shop says they "think" there's also carbon buildup and they would have to drop the engine. The bill was over $9000. The repair company said I'd have to pay to have the engine dropped, and if the issue was caused by a part covered under warranty, they'd pay the bill. Otherwise, it was up to me :( Again, taking matters into my own hands, I painstakingly replaced all 8 injectors, coded them to the car, and the issue was resolved for now. 4. Now I'm experiencing issues with a long crank. I have no idea if Dixie knew of any issues, but I haven't been able to enjoy the vehicle. It's pretty though! read more

I have to say this is definitely one of the better used car dealerships you'll find. They specialize in luxury and sports cars if you're in the market for that. But we bought a 2011 Subaru Tribeca here earlier this month. Mike Tant set us up with a test drive after I inquired about the car online (either through cars.com or cardealers.com) the day after. It was a fair price given the year and mileage, and we got a fair trade in value on our car. The car we bought is in excellent condition, and there have been no issues with the car as of yet. They've been in business in Nashville for over 30 years, and it shows they really know what they're doing and don't mess people over. We worked out financing there too, which also was very fair. Buying a car is rarely a pleasant experience; at least I'd never had a pleasant experience doing it, that is until making my most recent purchase from Dixie Motors in Nashville. So many reviews you see online are from people who have had bad experiences with a place, and while I think these can be helpful at times I think it's just as important to share a good experience you've had. I'm in Denver and buying a car out of state was a new experience for me and I was a little leery about it. I came across a car on their website that I fell in love with and gave Danny with Dixie Motors a call to talk about it. I was very impressed with the amount of photos they had on their website for the car and they gave a lot of great information. He was incredibly helpful right from the start and was able to answer all of my questions and concerns regarding the car, buying a car out of state and how the financing would work. I got the financing in order and since I was buying a car that I hadn't seen in person I felt it was a smart idea to get a 3rd party inspection service to go out and look at the car for me. I used http://www.lemonsquad.com and was very happy with their service. They were very thorough and provided good feedback. They'll point out every scratch or ding a car has which is a little overkill, but if you're not able to look at a car in person before you buy it I think it's a good idea. The car checked out ok and I worked with Danny on one minor issue that he bent over backwards to take care of. I booked my plane tickets to go out to Nashville to pick up the car to drive it back to Denver. I arrived late at night the day before I was picking up the car and Danny came to get me at my hotel the next morning and brought me to the dealership. It was a small dealership with a lot of very nice cars and you could tell they take pride in their presentation of everything. Nice lot and a nice showroom. The car was even better in person than it was in the photos. We took it for a quick drive and came back to the dealership and I signed a few papers and was out the door in an hour or less and on the road back to Denver. They deal in very good quality cars and their dedication to customer service is among the best I've experienced for any purchase. Vehicles are priced right where they should be in my opinion and I think I got a great deal on the car I bought with no need to haggle on the price. It was a true pleasure to do business with Danny. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY CAR BUYING LIFETIME! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME! SEEK ELSEWHERE! Only gave one star because zero or negative numbers was not an option. My father and I traveled 126 miles or so from Paducah, KY to visit Dixie Motors in Nashville, TN. We we looking at a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo for my daughter. They didn't seem to be that busy, but everyone behaved as if they were swamped. We were greeted but weren't given much of a reception when we arrived but we sure were uncermoniously dismissed shortly thereafter. Mr. Russell seemed friendly and nice but we got stuck with his partner Ben West instead. We had the misfortune of dealing with Mr. West-- a crotchety, nasty, old undetaker of a man-- imagine Scrooge without the sparkling personality. Don't get me wrong, ol' Ben faked being semi-pleasant at first but you just could tell he was pretending. My first RED FLAG should have been when Ben West asked my father to inform him when we were coming so that he could "get the car ready" -- whatever that meant. I envisioned this huge car lot but that was definitely not the case. It was just a little corner lot compared to some of the larger lots we passed by coming into town. Turns out Ben said they had to rinse off the vehicle we were interessted in because it had "been stiitng out in the rain" WTF?! Anyway, my father and I proceded to check over the car. I noticed on the window sticker it had the price of $26,970 but the add online had it for $25,900 -- a decrease of $1,070. We took the car out for a test drive and returned to the lot. We went in to speak with Ben West. He asked what we thought and then his demanor and facial expression changed drastically. It was a bit jarring when he barked out, "Do you want top buy it? I said, "Depends on what you want for it" to which he replied "Let's go run the numbers." We went into the office. He whipped the computer screen around saying this was the "Out The Door price" which was the website price that had a $379 document fee tacked on. My father stated that he felt that was too much and he asked me what I would pay. I said $22,000 and he said that the dealership was "NO HAGGLE" and claimed that the vehicles had "NO MARKUP" on them! Then he rudely got up and walked out off the office. I was like "Is this it?!" Ben West was pretty hateful to us and it was not appreciated whatsoever. So you buy cars and sell them for the exact price you gave for it?! I don't think so Ben. I expected some sort of a counteroffer not to be basically shown the door in disgust! NEWSFLASH Mr. West-- my father worked for Chrysler in Detroit, MI so he's well aware of what the markup is on Jeeps. I've had 4 Wranglers, and he's had 4 Cherokees/Grand Cherokees and my daughter had a Liberty and a Grand Cherokee so our family knows what the vehicles are worth. So you dropped the price $1,070 but you're "NO HAGGLE." Yeah right. The NADA blue book listed the clean trade in value at $19,525 to $20,400 and the clean retail between $21,875 and $22,850 Long story short, it was a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME to drive that distance and be treated so rudely. I've lived in Nashville for the majority of my young adult life, also working in the service industry I know what good hospitality is when I see it. Being a dealership that sells used cars for a fairly decent price, you have to take into consideration that they can't for see the future to what will happen to your car after you make your purchase. For some reason the windshield wipers quit working after just two weeks of purchasing the car. I took it to Volvo and was surprised to find out that it was going to cost a lot of money. Found out after a seal leak, the warranty does not cover any seals and for the back window it will only cover the motor not the switch. The worst part was how much they quote to pay labor rates - it is lower than anything they could find in the area. Paid way too much for the warranty and it is one that does not cover the items that usually need work. Learned a lot from buying this warranty and won't again. read more

Dixie Motors offered a fair price on a good used car, that is the extent of the nice things I can say about this operation. The salesman and I negotiated a deal that was confirmed in writing and include shipping to the west coast. Perhaps I should have been leery when Leonard the salesman refused to allow the car to be test driven. He later stated that it could be test driven but only with a sizeable deposit. Not sure if this is commonplace in Tennessee or not but on the West Coast it is not. He offered his assistance with transportation but then either did not know anything about the companies they represent or refused to give any tangible feedback on the process. He later commented that all of my questions and emails were a nuisance and "costing him money". Apparently I was supposed to make a $40,000 purchase on just a long distance 'handshake' and a "trust me". Not my style. When I questioned him about a $269 "processing fee" that was introduced into the sale after our initial negotiation and agreement he stated that he could do nothing about that fee. When the paperwork was generated to be signed that fee swelled to $279. Quite literally minutes before leaving my office for the bank to wire funds Leonard informed me that he would not be honoring the agreement. When asked why he mostly dodged my question and replied only with that all of my questions were "costing him money". I am pursuing this matter with an attorney who does believe that I have a breech of contract case against this establishment.. read more
