Blueberry Pie

Just a piece of blueberry pie! I love Dixie! All kinds of gems when I pass thru! But the blueberry pie is the best. Got it to go, and I'll be back!

Really cute Route 66 diner

Stumbled in by accident. I was looking for coffee when I noticed to decor getting real cute toward the back of the door I came through. Instantly I was greeted by great smelling food and extremely pleasant waitstaff. I was going to have eggs but THEN I saw the buffet!! Walleye, fried chicken, baked chicken, winks,.pork tenderloin, sirloin tips.....and what a salad bar!!!! The atmosphere is reminiscent of the old Route 66 and has any pictures of bygone eras. This place is awesome, good is good and plentiful especially for the price. It is attached to a Subway, but I recommend trying this home cooking instead of the sandwich!!! Take the family, fill up the car at the gas pump, eat some good grub and head on down more of Historic Route 66 Travelers Enjoy

A little bit of everything.

This place is amazing. We had the buffet and everything was delicious. How could a person not like this place. The lunch buffet is $9 and it has lots of meats you won't typical find on lunch. The desserts and soups were stand out. The place is huge and clean. Our waitress was Very good.

Mold in pie, which was served to the table. Very disappointing. Was taken off the check with out asking.

Love this place! Best buffet ever! Super friendly staff. By the way, this was the very first truck stop in America. Very cool decor.

Food wasn't that great. The cake was dry and bugs were flying around the buffet. Also my grandmothers wallet was stolen here.

It seems that the whole operation is a positive place to be as the staff are both very friendly but willing to suggest great places to visit in the area. The kitchen is on point with food coming out quickly and fresh. I had a club sandwich which includes bacon and that bacon could have starred in its own show - very flavorful and plenty of it. This wasn't your ordinary club sandwich. We also had a chicken salad sandwich which was first-rate as well. Very flavorful and plenty of chicken salad on the sandwich. Fortunately we planned ahead as I saved room for cheesecake which was, no exception, the best restaurant cheesecake I have ever had. We also had a slice of peach pie and it was outstanding. Apparently Lumi, who is the co-owner and pie queen, has won a bunch of awards for her pies and I would give her an award if I had one to give. Just a positive experience and we even got to see the new American Giant Lumi out front!

This is unacceptable during normal breakfast hours. As a result I did not tip either time. If you can't refill my coffee then you did not do the basics let alone go above and beyond.

For sure it's not a place if looking for high quality eats. They're cheap though. A gathering place for the locals is why this place sticks around. It's not like there's many other places to go around here. There was an okay crowd when we came in. Booze is why people come. It's about $7 for a basic cocktail so okay prices. Food is lacking. It's about $3 for the cheapest appetizers such as fries or whatever. Among the entrees are some burgers. They also have breakfast stuff. Basic things like bacon and eggs. There's not a whole lot of vegetarian choices and most things are fried. Chill place as far as atmosphere. It's got some pretty weird hours. They're closed Sundays.

Certainly wasn't crowded on a Tuesday night, but the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Beer selection was only domestics, which was disappointing for me, but understandable for the area. They took cash only, and luckily we had a little bit that night. They claim to have the best burgers in the area, so I had a double bacon cheeseburger while my wife at the BLT. Prices were extremely reasonable. My double-cheeseburger with bacon was excellent. Appeared to be hand-made and decent size. If I had known how large a double was, I would have ordered a single. Not too greasy, yet smashed. The bun was buttered and grilled. Truly a great burger. The fries that were shared were hot and crispy. Jukebox played a lot of Chris Stapleton while we were there. All-in-all, would definitely go back.
