Their ScubsPro regulator service is a pain in the behind. At every service I have had with them they never fill out the paperwork properly with ScubaPro and it takes many calls to both parties to get the 'Parts for life' paperwork correct. It's not that complicated but it never has been easy for Dixie Divers to get it right for my family. It may be time to find a better service provider for my gear. read more

Did a two tank dive with Dixie Divers aboard their boat, Lady Go Diver. We hit two reefs right out of the boca inlet. Getting signed up and renting equipment was quick and painless. Short drive over to the boat and loaded up. Nice boat ride out.....divers out.....then waited for the boat to pick us up (maybe took 10 minutes on the first one), then only 5 if that on the 2nd (boat was picking up another group right near us). The captain and 1st Mate (Billy) were super helpful, and I never really had a concern. They advertised the reefs we were going at as 40'. When my depth gauge reached 76' something also went down (or out, if you get my drift). :) Can't wait to go again. read more

I needed masks for two of my sons and was on time crunch and out of state before a trip to Bonaire. We had planned to buy masks at a local dive shop but because the weather doesn't care about calendars we had a snow storm everytime we went to go to the shop which is quite a distance from us. I ended up having to buy the masks in Boca Raton FL at Dixie divers which was close to family we would staying a couple days with in Boca. I called them up placed my order and have to say I couldn't have had a better experience. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Awesome boat, nice staff. Very packed, which is not the best thing during COVID times. Charles Kiss was my instructor, and he was amazing for my Tec 40. I completed my open water scuba certification today at Dixie Divers and was super impressed with the experience! My instructor Gary, was extremely patient, as I had some anxiety issues. I primarily dive Palm Beach reefs and wrecks with some well established operations for whom most would consider to be the gold standard to reference on how to run not only a dive boat but a dive shop, so, for me, my expectations are always based on the excellent level of customer service I've always received. Dixie Divers does not disappoint and in Broward county it will be difficult to not only find a well stocked shop like Dixie Divers, but you'll find it hard to compare against their dive boat (Lady Go Diver), which is why they'll be my go-to for dives in Broward county. The shop has a great selection and the staff are super friendly and willing to help with any questions you have. We're Tech divers and we were not disappointed with the selection of equipment for Technical diving either; however, I cannot vouch for expertise in Tech diving in general as we haven't done any technical gear sales, service, or dives (yet) with them but I suspect I wouldn't be disappointed. The fill station offers banked EaN and at the time I got fills the only bank offering was 35%. Normally, where I primarily get my fills, I have three banked options: 32%, 34%, and 36%, so having a single mix choice isn't exactly "ideal" but for the majority of the open water dives most people perform this mixture is just fine, but for the more discerning divers they'll offer to blend the mix down, but this does take a bit more time to accomplish. Partial pressure fill are not offered in their fill station, this is neither a good or bad thing as lots of places don't do it because of the risks involved and the constant training of staff can be daunting; thus, if you need a partial pressure fill for something you'll have to find another fill station. Finally, they do offer fill cards based on the sizes of tanks you're planning to fill, so they're "per-fill" cards. The boat is a 46' Newton, which is the quintessential dive boat. There is plenty of room on the boat and the under-bench storage has plenty of room. Parking is free and close by where the boat will dock so you're not walking very far. The crew will take your tanks on the boat for you; however, they won't put your gear on the boat, which is different than the boats in Palm Beach where the crew puts all your gear on and off, which is not just a customer service "thing" but also a safety precaution as we've already witnessed multiple accidents with people carrying gear on and off; however, I am positive if you requested they load and unload your gear the crew would likely do it for you. The boat offers free drinks and snacks along with fruit when you're coming back to the shop while you're in the calm waters of the inter-coastal waterway, The boat has two standard swim ladders, you will need to take your fins off before you can climb the ladders. If you've been on a boat with christmas tree ladders then you already know how sweet it is to simply climb aboard with your fins on, we love them, so if there were any upgrades we'd love to see on the boat it is christmas tree ladders. Now, in rougher seas they will throw a tag line out for you to remove your fins and the crew will pull you in. I know this shouldn't razzle dazzle my brain, but the fact they use the tag line correctly amazes me! Why? Well, there are other, lesser, operations who'll throw the tagline out to you and expect you to pull yourself in (insert rolling eyes emoji here). The crew knows what they're doing and we feel safe while in the water with them. Finally, the crew is professional and friendly, even the captain will come to speak with you. Even though we had only been on their boat twice before the captain come to chat with us to get to know us a little better. One super last thing I forgot to mention is they offer a multi-dive pass (or frequent diver card as its called in other places) and you'll be hard pressed to beat the savings, we'll be buying lots of those. There are many choices in Broward but DX Divers is our only choice and should be yours. read more

Went diving with them on 9/8 for 2 morning dives with my buddy. On my first dive I was having a difficult time clearing sinuses after gitting the water and as a result I could only go about 20' without tremendous pain and pressure, so I surfaved and got back on boat. On second dive I wanted to try to go in again. In my way in the water again I tokd divemaster I wanted to try again but will likely not be able to clear and will resurface if I cannot clear. Additionally I told him I will go in first to check so as not to hold up the other divers. Same thing happened again and I could not clear. I surfaced and boat was already taking off. I waved and shouted I was seen but ignored and they did not stop. So I was stuck floating in the water for over 40 minutes before Lady Go Diver returned from at least a mile away to pick up another group diving on a wreck. Captain seemed more concerned about getting back to marina in time to pick up next group for afternoon dive. I am an experienced diver and have been certified for 33 years. Very alarming to surface with staff knowing I had an issue and no boat. I have dove with this outfit a few times over the years and this was first problem I have had with them, but last time I will dive with them. read more

I went diving on Thursday with these guys for the first time. The shop is great. It's larger than most stores and had a ton of gear. The process of getting tanks and checked in was smooth and the boat was nice. The entire DD team was responsive and helpful throughout the day. All of the divers in the boat, many who were DD repeat divers, were super friendly as well. Fortunately we only had 10-12 people total on the boat which was nice. I'm not into large boats so my only concern would be if I was going out on a full boat it would be a bit much. I'd definitely recommend checking these guys out! read more

Dixie Divers is a first class establishment. Pavan (the owner) is incredibly passionate about diving and making his customers happy. I've been diving for many many years and have never been to a friendlier shop where the owner has his hand in all aspects of day to day operations and is constantly trying to help out. I bet most people don't even recognize that he owns the shop because he's working so much. He also does so much to promote safe diving in the community as well as does a lot of community beach/reef clean ups. The person who wrote that the dive shop is cluttered...name me ONE shop that's privately owned that is not packed beyond its breaking point with equipment and merchandise. Yes, the store is loaded with stuff but is pretty organized if you ask me and very clean compared to most shops. You can get all sorts of classes done, parts serviced, all types of tank fills and book great trips on their professional boat which is 5 min or less from the store. I've never had a bad experience here since i learned of this shop. Will be coming back many more times! Also, to show you the kind of service I receive there. I went yesterday out on their dive boat but before I boarded I stopped at the shop to pick up my boarding card, filled 4 tanks promptly (pavan even fixed 2 that were leaking right there for free), changed the battery on my dive computer and did it in a relaxed AC environment. My wife who is nursing needed to pump before we headed out, Pavan and his staff were very accommodating and set us up in a private room so that she can pump before we headed out and have her privacy. My children just got certified (at a different shop) and we planned our first family dive to Blue Heron Bridge. Friday night, before closing, we rented 3 BCDs, 3 regs, 2 wetsuits, 1 pair of fins and 4 tanks; this came to almost $250. Saturday morning, we are at the dive site setting up and find that only one tank was full (3200psi). The others were 2800, 2000 and 1500 psi. When we returned the gear, we mentioned this to the owner, who immediately said they probably leaked when we transported them. 3 out of 4? We said they probably mixed up returned tanks with full ones when they issued them to us? He not only flat out denied that (although he wasn't the one to give us the tanks), but turned it around on us stating "As certified divers, YOU should have checked them before leaving the shop". (said this three more times). Over thirty years of diving, I only ever checked tanks when I was nitrox diving. These were just air. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect to receive fully filled tanks when renting them. No apology. No hint of customer service...(seriously, what would offering four rental tanks or the gear again cost them to make up for a simple mistake that cut our dive time in half?). In the end, he grudgingly agreed to two fills for our own tanks...something which WE had to ask for since he was obviously avoiding admitting any responsibility by his store. There are other shops which care about their customers. We won't be redeeming the two fills. Nor will we be spending a couple grand on equipment for our newly certified kids there, or future fills, dive trips, etc. Heard a lot of good things about Scuba Network just a half mile down the road...will be taking our business there. read more

It was my first time snorkeling and it won't be my last. The process was very simple. I bought my group on online and called to scheduled my appointment. I showed up and bought the upgrade for the full face mask. This face mask made my experience even better because it was easier to see and breath through. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I even made a new friend with the captain's little daughter. I am planning on bringing a bigger group with my organization on my next trip. I might even consider becoming a certified scuba diver next year and venture further down. read more

From practicing in the awesome salt water pool Dixie has to the ocean open water testing, Gary was tremendous at getting me through it all. I had 2 complete sets of equipment serviced for the annual. I paid exceptionally high prices as I asked for it to be serviced quickly One of the BC's valves failed and started filling without control while I was underwater, luckily I was not too deep the other set of equipment , the hose to the computer was leaking air and was obviously not tested. both failures were the first dive after service and the equipment was perfect prior to the service. It is clear that the equipment was not tested after the annual service was performed. I attempted to stop payment with Amex but they disputed it but in my book there is no way I would bring my equipment back to be serviced again by a shop that performed a poor prior service especially when its my life underwater I will not use them again for equipment service and would not recommend them read more

I'll start by saying I had been a customer of Dixie divers since my certification 3 years ago. Joel was a great instructor who knew what he was doing and more importantly, he knew how to help you understand. In the following years I would frequent the shop for dive trips and any other dive related gear. Although I was not a fan of the ridiculous mark up they price their gear at I was loyal to them as they trained me and I liked to keep the business in their shop. This was all true until a year ago when I went on a dive and my regulator flooded. Most would say poor maintenance, however I just had my reg overhauled the week prior. I eventually took it back in and had it overhauled again, which I paid for because I wasn't in the 2 month window. Unfortunately this did not solve the problem. Once again I paid to have my reg overhauled once more. This is where the fun part comes in....this "professional" operation never put a diaphragm back in the regulator. I didnt find this out until my next dive. After I spit out the water I choked on I took my reg back in to be repaired, AGAIN, this time refusing to pay for it. After the 3rd repair was done the owner, pavan, refused to test this equipment for me. Unfortunately because it hadn't been repaired before I didn't feel comfortable testing it myself. The whole time he told me I was wrong for questioning his staffs' capabilities based on my prior experiences. at the end of the day be aware you're paying 25% more to buy anything from this shop. Your equipment is likely not being repaired as they said it is. Last but not least, the business owner will never admit his faults. Don't use em, you're much better off with the many other local choices They could really use a lesson on customer service read more

When the shop makes a mistake, doesn't apologize, and blames the customer, I know its time to find another shop. They made an honest mistake, during a busy time of year, but told me it was my responsibility to check their work. I was upset I had to return to have the problem corrected, but insulted at their attitude. A simple I'm sorry would have gone a long way. But blaming me for not checking their work,Sorry, Never again. Its a huge shop, trains a lot of people, and sells a lot of equipment, at retail prices. But I can't support them, or recommend them to my buddies. I will support a smaller shop with better customer service, and attitude. btw, I've been diving since 1973, 500+ dives, all over Fla, Bahamas, and Caribbean. its a shame I'll have to go elsewhere because this is the closest shop. read more

This review is solely for the shop, and I am being a little generous with my stars as I have not experienced any of their scuba/snorkel excursions or the equipment rental process. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon mainly looking to get some last minute fins, snorkel and mask as a friend wanted to come out and see a few fish with us. When I purchased my snorkel stuff I never even entered a store. I shopped on amazon mostly because that is generally just my go to move. In terms of inventory Dixie Divers has a lot, probably too much. The store is pretty cluttered and in my opinion very disorganized. About ten minutes in I abandoned the others and just waited outside as it was actually giving me anxiety. There was barely enough space to move around. It was also very difficult to find correct fin sizes in what was essentially just a giant pile system six feet high. In the few minutes I was in the store I did some price comparisons. When I ordered my snorkel and mask I had been mostly concerned about getting a purple one, and not necessarily the most expert brand or quality, but I have always been very happy with my purchase, and I think I paid around $30 for the set. In this store I noted many masks or snorkels alone were $30++ so I would easily be spending double here. I did a quick amazon search for some of the exact items and found them to be much cheaper there, so it isn't just a matter of them carrying higher quality merchandise, there is definitely a huge markup. That being said this is a dive shop relatively close to the touristy area of Deerfield, so I'm sure they can get away with it having tourists stopping in wanting to purchase items for that day. The staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be. They seemed a little overwhelmed juggling the retail end and the scuba rental situation, but it was a Saturday morning on a gorgeous day, I'm sure there were more people than normal headed to the water. If you want to come in a try a few things on and figure out what you need I would suggest coming in maybe on a weekday or a rainy day when the staff could be more attentive. Though the prices here didn't necessarily agree with the bargain shopper in me, they are cheaper than another dive shop located closer to the beach, so it is not your worst bet, though probably not the best either. read more

My wife purchased a Living Social voucher for the snorkeling trip. We originally booked the 7:30am Saturday trip since they only go out at limited times and this time worked best for us. We received a call a few weeks later that they had to put us on the 12:00pm trip b/c a research team requested the 7:30am slot. The guy told us that it was a 12-4pm trip and we would be back at the dock by 4:30pm. Even though this basically blows the whole day, we decided to just do it so we would be able to use our voucher before it expired. We pulled up to the store and checked in. This was the one aspect that I really didn't like about the trip. On other snorkeling trips, al lthe equipment is right on the boat and you just check in at the dock and get on the boat. For this trip, you have to check in at the store and then drive to the dock. The dock is so sketchy! I saw a few undesirable indivduals lurking around the area and I couldn't believe this was where the boat came. But it was! The most annoying thing was that the time was quoted completely inaccurately. The boat doesn't arrive until 1pm and you get back to the dock at around 6pm. Why couldn't the guy tell us the correct time of the trip in the first place? If we had known this, we would have booked this trip the next weekend so as to not blow the entire day. Anyhow... The actual trip was pretty cool and the staff were all really nice. Since it's a snorkeling and scuba trip, their was a divemaster and he was very friendly and even fixed my fin when it broke. The first reef was really cool and you could see a lot of fish and other aquaitc life. The second site wasn't great b/c the water was cloudy and there wasn't as much to see as the first site. Overall, it was a decent trip but they definitely can implement some changes to make the experience better. read more
