We went out with Aqualife Divers for a two tank dive through our Scuba coordinators, Jupiter Scuba. The boat was spacious, well appointed, and safe. there was plenty of room for our gear. The captain did a great job staying with us on the drift dives and picking us up. They provided great snacks and encouraged us to drink as much water or soda as we needed. Skip was a great deckhand and helped us find everything we needed. We even met Fred(erika) the pelican and my wife had a lifetime wish fulfilled getting close to and feeding a pelican. Overall we loved our time on the Aqualife with Skip and the captain and look forward to being on their boat again next trip!! read more

do not recommend diving with this operator due to multiple serious safety concerns, poor organization, and unprofessional customer service. I prepaid for a two-tank Nitrox dive approximately one week before the trip. When I arrived at the boat, there were no Nitrox tanks available for me despite my reservation and prepayment. Brad repeatedly counted tanks and passengers but could not determine why my tanks were missing. It was eventually discovered that another diver had taken the tanks I had reserved and paid for, set up his gear, and used them without having a prior reservation or payment. Rather than reclaiming the tanks that had been reserved for me, Brad arranged to use tanks that a friend happened to have in the back of his car. These replacement tanks raised several concerns. They were not properly labeled, had no visible inspection stickers, and there was no way for me to know when they had last been inspected, serviced, or how they had been filled. One tank had a damaged O-ring that required replacement before it could be used. Additionally, the replacement tanks were not secured when brought aboard. One fell over onto the deck, causing the valve handle to break off. This seemed to me that the handle had been corroded. I was also inconvenienced by having to reconfigure my gear to accommodate a steel cylinder instead of the tank type I had reserved. After the first dive, I set up for the second dive and discovered that my replacement tank contained only 2,500 PSI rather than a full fill. When I brought this to Brad's attention, his response was dismissive and unprofessional. I explained that I had reserved and paid for full Nitrox tanks and expected to receive what I had purchased. Rather than addressing the issue professionally, he became confrontational and aggressively stated that he would "comp the tanks." The most concerning issue occurred after the second dive. The boat began departing the pickup location while two divers were still in the water, visible at the surface with their dive flag. Brad had to shout to the captain that divers were still in the water, forcing the captain to stop and reverse course to retrieve them. Starting the engine and moving the vessel while divers are still in the water is an extremely serious safety concern and could have resulted in severe injury or worse. The trip concluded with passengers being required to climb approximately five feet from the boat to the dock using an unstable ladder, creating yet another safety concern. Overall, this operation appeared poorly organized and inadequately prepared for foreseeable issues. There were no readily available backup tanks, equipment handling practices were questionable, and customer service was lacking. Most importantly, several situations raised significant safety concerns that no diver should have to experience. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this operator. read more

I want to express a serious concern regarding an incident that occurred on May 8th at approximately 1:20 PM while we were fishing on the Jim Torgerson wreck. During this time, the Aqua Life Charter approached our vessel and positioned itself within 20 yards of us. The captain of the Aqua Life Charter, an older gentleman, deployed a diver with a dive buoy and observed our activities without any apparent regard for safety. After about a minute, he unfurled his dive flag, indicating that divers were in the water. This action was taken knowingly in a situation that posed significant risks. To ensure the safety of the diver, we made the decision to reel in our lines to avoid accidentally hooking the diver. However, maintaining a safe distance of at least 300 feet from a diver or dive charter operation becomes exceedingly difficult under these circumstances. We believe this incident warrants attention, and we will be filing a formal complaint with the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Miami to ensure that safety protocols are reinforced and adhered to by this dive charter operation. read more

I went a couple weeks ago with AquaLife to get certified, never scuba dived before. Skip was amazing, really patient and knowledgeable. He prepared me very well and definitely makes sure you are safe and know your info before you jump into the ocean. Went on some amazing dives to get certified and saw incredible fish and a ship wreck. Boat crew is also great. Can't recommend more, I feel very confident I can go diving again anywhere! I had a fun experience with these guys. After the cancelation of a deep dive a month prior due to very bad weather, I made it back up their way to do two shallower dives on a sunny Sunday winter afternoon. It was a simple operations: the Captain and Skip, the Divemaster, but everything was smooth and well-executed. For this dive, we hit the Hiroshima Wreck, followed by a drift dive on Hillsboro Ledge. Conditions were A+. A big plus about their location is they are literally on top of a number of different great sites, so you're not traveling hours just to find a good site. At the end of the my drift dive, I hung out for my safety stop, popped up to my flag and the captain was spot on waiting for me. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect day and I will be back to explore the deeper dives with them soon. read more

He pointed out sea life for us along the way. Crew was personable, snacks and drinks provided where very much appreciated. Did two dives this past weekend with Skip, Capt. Popeye, and AquaLife Divers - absolutely fantastic experience for a newly-certified OW diver! We dove the Okinawa wreck followed by a reef drift dive (Razzle Dazzle) - both great dives with plenty to see. The booking & gear rental process was seamless (dive computer, regulator, tanks), and Skip was a phenomenal divemaster. The boat was well-appointed, with a hot water shower, plenty of snacks/water, and a clean/functioning head. Would definitely recommend, and hopefully will be diving with them again soon! read more

We had a great time with these guys!! My girlfriend and I are newly open water certified and had been only diving in the springs up north. This was our first saltwater experience. We did two days of morning dives. The crew was fantastic and highly professional. The instructions were spot on and the captain really did an amazing job of making sure we were able to see both reefs and wrecks. We missed the wreck on our first drift (still plenty of reef to see), so he adjusted his drop spot on the second dive to give novices like us a little more time to descend in the current. I explained to the captain and crew that it was my daughter's and my first ocean dive since getting certified and that she was really nervous. The one guy seemed to help my 25 year old daughter out with anything she needed with her gear including spraying her with some soap stuff to help her get her wetsuit on easier but left me struggling to get mine on. He put my weights in my pouches but obviously didn't make sure they snapped properly. I would find out later I lost one when I jumped off. The current was really rough so for whatever reason for newbies they tied up the front of the boat to the wreck below. Our instructions were to jump off the rear of the boat and swim to the floating ball, follow the rope along the side of the boat to the front of the boat and then to to the ball at the front of the boat which was our line down to the wreck below. We were to do this all with fighting the current against us. I was able to make to the front line somehow, exhausted and sucking air. My daughter made it to the front of the boat but then could go no further because she had a panic attack. I then had to swim back because I now had no dive buddy. The second dive we didn't do because my daughter now had no desire to after being freaked out she probably could of done she said because they did a simple tie up at the rear of the boat. When getting my gear together I realized as I said before I had lost my weight pouch when I initially jumped in so even if my daughter had made it to me I would not have been able to descend. Not a good experience for first time divers or for a diver that was really nervous like my daughter. read more
