Came here for breakfast before meeting some friends. The place was very busy but no problem getting a table. I had ample time to look at the menu and everything looked great. I went for the avacado smash eggs Benedict. It was really good. Perfect amount of avacado and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The only thing I thought it was missing was bacon. It was my birthday, so they decorated my to go box which was a really nice touch. The service was good, as it was busy, a bit hectic but good. Weekends are very busy, so prepare accordingly. We came on a Saturday morning so there was a little wait of about 15 minutes for our group of 5 but we were able to wait outside. Our waitress was super sweet and kept checking in on us frequently which we appreciated. I ordered an iced sugar free vanilla latte and it was absolutely delicious. This is one of my go to spots for breakfast/brunch and can't say enough good things about how great the food and service is here. It can get pretty busy on the weekends, depending on the time, but if you are coming during the week you should have no issues with getting a table quickly. The menu is full of a ton of great options. I usually go for one of the quiches or one of the eggs Benedict's, they have several variations on the menu. If you are craving something sweeter there are plenty of options, too. The parking situation can get tricky on the weekends, but otherwise there's a lot in front and lots of street parking close by. I love to meet people here for breakfast meetings. You can also do brunch here and then go to the brewery that is right next door (Windermere Brewing). They also have pies and other treats for sale to bring home with you. read more

It's the cutest local cafe that takes pride in its homemade food. They have something for everyone, and breakfast is served all day too. They smoke their own pork, so I went with the Cuban sandwich. It was probably one of the best Cuban sandwiches I've ever had. The pork was delicious. Interestingly, they used one big chunk of ham instead of sliced ham, but I actually really liked that. The bread was the perfect combo of fluffy with crispy edges. It came out super hot too. I opted for the side of fruit for a slight upcharge instead of fries or chips. I was glad I did! It was a pretty great mixed fruit cup. Filled to the brim of many different kinds of fresh fruits, so unlike lots of chinsy fruit cups a lot of places serve. My mom ordered a burger and my dad ordered the fish and chips (the fish piece was HUGE) and they both said their meals were delicious. There is a pretty extensive coffee menu and homemade pastries to-go if you want to just pop in and get a quick breakfast on the run. The only thing I didn't care for was their speciality iced tea. It was a little bit too sweet for my liking, but that's not their fault. Just a personal preference. Prices are very reasonable as well especially considering portion sizes. read more

We arrived on a Saturday around 1pm. It wasn't terribly busy and we were able to be seated right away. I opted for the breakfast burrito, which had scrambled eggs, chorizo sausage, green peppers, cheese And salsa and sour cream. It was served with a side of breakfast potatoes. The biggest complaint I had about the food was that the chorizo clearly was not drained before it was added into my tortilla. There was so much oil soaking through the tortilla that it made it uncomfortable to hold it to eat and I ended up using a knife and fork. Overall the flavors were delicious. My husband opted for the chicken and waffles with a side of cheesy egg. When the food was brought out his chicken and waffles were brought out but not his side of eggs. The food runner looked completely lost and confused when my husband asked where his side of eggs were. The server happened to be in the area and said I'll take care of it as the other person in our party was missing cheese on her eggs. My husband mentioned that the chicken was salty so in order to eat the chicken he had to have the waffle with the extra syrup to balance it. Waffle was OK but definitely could've been in The waffle iron for a little bit more to give it that golden crisp. The other person in the party wanted to do a waffle with eggs and bacon but the server told us that wasn't a possibility. So she ended up getting blueberry pancakes with eggs and bacon. As I mentioned she had requested cheese on her eggs but it wasn't there and had to be taken back to the kitchen to correct it. The bacon on her plate definitely looked like it was at the end of the day and left over. It was very small and definitely over cooked. I was here a few months back and thought that the service was great and the food was wonderful. Today's experience was at most mediocre. For the eggs being left off of my husbands plate and then the cheese being missed on our friends plate we didn't even get so much as a I'm sorry or we're sorry for the mistake. Perhaps it was because it was at the end of their day and everybody was just wanting to go home. But it will probably be several months before we try this location again. read more

Things have changed drastically for Dixie Cream Cafe. They used to be the benchmark for a great breakfast restaurant but have nose dived into mediocrity. The omelet that we ordered had the life cooked out it and was the driest egg that I have ever saw on a plate. The blueberry pancake was bland with a rubbery texture and had just a few blueberries cooked inside. The blueberries scattered on top of the cooked pancake would have been better served inside of the batter. It would have helped it to taste like a blueberry pancake. Lastly...the biscuits and gravy recipe changed for the worse. Now it is something closer to a loose brown gravy with big hunks of tasteless..dry sausage. Serving the biscuit torn into pieces with gravy on top is not as visually appealing as having a small bowl of gravy next to a whole biscuit. Gone is the creamy white gravy that was loaded with flavor. The biscuits were beautiful on the outside and undercooked on the inside. read more

This was our second trip to Dixie Cream Cafe. Both trips I got the Dixie Brisket Hash. It comes with herb oil roasted breakfast potatoes and 2 eggs and a biscuit. The first time I had it, the potatoes were crispy and delicious. The second time, they were less roasted and more steamed. This changed the flavors of the meal just slightly and was not as flavorful as the first time-though still very good!!! We also had the sausage gravy and biscuits. I make sausage gravy at home and know how my husband likes it-chock full of sausage. This was light on the sausage, heavy on the gravy. Again, still very tasty. I have had the almond joy iced latte and the iced mocha latte. Both very good but very similar in taste. I might try one of their breakfast juices next time-so many delicious choices!!! The first time we went, it was busy, but somehow quieter than it was today. It's not a large place, but the servers are attentive and nice and personable. You can tell this is a "locals" place. Today some sort of car group came in and sat together in the back-so it is perhaps roomier in the back. We will definitely go back but next time try something new! Back again (2nd weekend in a row) and must say that the food and service did not disappoint. Some weekends are busier than others and today there was no wait. Last weekend there was a 5 minute wait. All in-all, it beats going to one of those large franchies eateries and it feels good to support a small business. As for the food, everything I've had I would gladly order again. Fried Fish and chips, banana foster French toast, and shrimp (of the shrimp and grits) are my favorite. As a true southerner, I'm particular about my grits. The grits are ok only because it's a little under salted but after adding one of their green sauces the dish was instantly a hit! The lemon ricotta pancakes are really good and not too sweet. The Banana foster French toast is amazing, but if you're watching your sugar intake you may want to skip this one. I usually skip the whipped cream and ask for light syrup on top; if not, they will load the French toast with syrup on top. The folks are nice and if there's an issue, they're right on top of it. I hadn't been into Windermere in years, what a wonderful treat Dixie Cream Cafe is. My friend and I shared an order of bananas foster French toast. This dish was delicious, definitely large enough to share without feeling shorted. The bacon was tasty although a bit crispier than I usually eat and the potatoes a bit dryer than I like. Everyone I spoke with and who took care of our service were friendly and polite, they checked in but did not intrude. The dining area was comfortable and not overly crowded with tables just the right amount and there was also outdoor seating. Decor was eclectic and fun, i especially loved the wall of album covers and shadow box with ticket stubs. Restroom was clean , spacious and gender specific.
