I was really pleased with their homemade pulled pork and their bbq sauces are great mixed yum!!! A little Tomato bbq and the vinegar one. Delicious. Most of the locals get the potato stuffed with their favorite toppings Want to try their Sunday buffet!! Super friendly staff. They open at 11am. There is a quick wild life drive nearby. I saw a bunch of turtles camped out of rocks while I waited for them to open. read more

We were up charged because of gas prices that's understandable so we ordered 4 pork ribs and 2 of them were small dry and tough. The coleslaw was long and stingy. read more

It's almost been a year since I last posted about Dixie Bones BBQ. Well, I ordered a giant baked potato with pulled pork. It gets a 4/5 . I ordered collard greens as well, a little tough no meat (where was the BBQ pork shoulder), it was bland. Collars get a 2.5/5 read more

Let's start positive, their service is a 10/10! They're very friend and welcoming. Ambiance was koo too 7/10 but honestly alls i did was get my food to go. I've not been here in 20 years and didn't understand why until I had the beef brisket mac and cheese and baked beans.... The beans are fresh aht the can and have a hint of tomato. Not bad but not good either 5/10. Mac and cheese tastes how it looks. 3.5/10. Beef brisket is koo 6/10. the biggest offender is the sauce they gave me. Tomato sorta bbq sauce. Im good. 3/10. Total cost was like $26. Not worth it. Maybe ill try there again in 2045. Oh yeah that flavorless cornbread. I think they gave me a sponge. 2/10 read more

I don't usually write food reviews but I thought I had to for this. Dixie Bones does great catfish, brisket, pull pork, stuff pototes but TERRIBLE ribs. The ribs are dry, tasteless, not falling off the bone tender. I don't know if it's old or leftovers or what. I ordered 2 ordered of ribs and I ate one rib. I had to throw away the rest. I was so disappointed. The catfish was awesome as usual. The brisket was good as well and the stuff potatoes and sides were equally good. I can make ribs at home better than that. I think Famous Dave's is even better. I had ribs from Ruby Tuesday the next night and they were by far more tender, fall of the bone tender with better flavor. My wife reminded me we didn't like the ribs 20 years ago but I had forgotten. What a shame. It was a $150 order and I threw away 2 orders of the ribs. Couldn't eat them. Sorry Dixie Bones, you need to do better with your ribs. - Thank you for responding to my review. I will keep that in mind about the ribs in the future. I appreciated the refund offer. Thank you for responding in a honest and professional manner sir. I'm adding an extra star for that!!!! read more

We have been going to Dixie Bones for at least 20 years. The down home atmosphere and Pleasant service is always a vibe. It has nostalgia and supports the local community which we love. The food is great, especially the collard greens, catfish, and our new favorite the smoked wings. Anytime we go there we always get the baked potato, which is the size of your hand and they can put anything such as the bbq chicken, pork, or brisket in the baked potato with cheese and sour cream or onions. if you like. Although prices have gone up extremely high in the last five years, we do make an attempt to try to buy lunch, which is a little less expensive and or do large orders. Just recently we went a couple weeks ago and the catfish was a little greasy in the pieces are getting smaller. Yet, this is Stella place that we will continue to support because of the quality of service speed in which they provide your meal and the taste of the food. read more

My friend who lives nearby decided to have lunch at Dixie Bones. He has been there many times over the decades. He raves about the food and the BBQ. This was my first time at Dixie Bones. As a food critic who visited many BBQ places all over the East Coast, I would say the BBQ at Dixie Bones was below average. I had their BBQ combo (pick two). The meat was dry and lacked flavor. The side dishes were average. The service was good. The second complaint is that Dixie Bones continues to email me. I did not subscribe or knowingly subscribe, and I have unsubscribed, but Dixie Bones continues to email me. Don't know why I continue to get emails from Dixie Bones despite unsubscribing from them several times. Change your email address or don't Google Dixie Bones. read more

Food was lukewarm, ribs were tough, sides were good. I would not visit again. But the bathroom was clean and smelled good.

I haven't been here in several years, but the food was not as good as I remember. I got rib tips, wings, collard greens, potato salad and sweet tea. The collards and tea were probably the only thing I would order again. read more

LOL; checked my review from 10+ years ago wherein I boasted the loaded baked potatoes as a steal at approximately $9. I just checked the menu and they are double that price now. Just wow. The whole menu was always overpriced with bland sides but this is just sad. I really loved this place as a Woodbridge staple. I will never pay $20 for a baked potato with some meat in it. Also on the menu: THREE ribs with two sides for over $23. Ridiculous. EDIT (after reading owner's response): I can both sympathize and empathize with your comments regarding inflation and the current (but soon to leave) administration. Still, look at the prices on Smokey Bones' and Famous Dave's menus for similar entrees. https://www.famousdavesdmv.com/menus/menu.html https://app.onedine.com/orders read more

We found a treasure today. The best BBQ in outside Manassas Park. Dixie Bones rates for one of the best BBQ on this side of the Mississippi. The staff is friendly, the waitress, Breit is very accommodating. My husband was on a scooter and she made sure that he was comfortable. Let's talk about the food! The BBQ pork sandwich, coleslaw, mac and cheese was true southern cooking. You can't beat the lunch specials. The amount of food you get on the lunch specials, bring your appetite. The pecan pie, truly homemade. The ambiance is really down home. You'll need to stop by and have some good southern BBQ. You might say that they over priced, however you pay for what you get "GREAT FOOD, Ambiance, FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE read more

overpriced and food was at best poor service was 3 stars. If it's home made style as advertised, please don't invite me over.

I really do like this place. The people who come here, the staff who take care of you, and the food are all excellent. However, what I don't like are the prices and the horrible idea of a la carte. For a family of four, one will spend no less than $60-$70. What makes this meal so expensive is that every main item on the menu is a la carte. This means that if you want a side with your meal, you have to pay extra. I do not like this culinary idea of nickel and diming patrons. However, on the positive side, I promise that you will get full from such an expensive meal. Their BBQ is very tasty! What I like about their food is that you can tell everything is fresh and not franchise (BTW, the baked potato is a meal by itself). Overall, as I mentioned, I really like this BBQ place (5-Stars); I personally think it's the best in town. The prices and the a la carte menu, however, I can't get behind (2.5-Stars). If you go, you will love it, but just know that you might not love the price. Enjoy. read more

We lucked into finding this place and it hit the spot. Big baked potato loaded with chopped brisket for the win. Lots of other southern comfort food options if the potato isn't your jam. Hole in the wall, but super clean and friendly hard working staff. Definitely a place locals seem to know about! read more

Dixie bones was recommended to me so I decided to give it a try. I love good BBQ, especially ribs. That is typically my go to anytime I try out a new bbq spot. Feel like if you can nail the ribs the other items are likely to be pretty good. I ordered the rib plate, which is 3 ribs 2 sides and a bun. If you want corn bread there is an extra charge. Total for this plate is over $20. I was a little caught off by the price, but do understand that prices have gone up due to the pandemic. Not sure if these were the prices prior to. Anyway...for that price I was expecting this meal to blow me away. Got home and was slightly disappointed from the start, as the 3 ribs that I had were very small. Weren't very meaty at all. If you are going to serve a meal with 3 ribs, they should really be a good size rib. My two sides were the Mac and cheese and greens. Greens in my opinion were too sweet but the Mac and cheese was pretty decent. I know everyone has their own opinion on what good is for them when it comes to bbq, but for me this wasn't my thing. read more

it is terrible this is the 3rd time I've given this place a try and this is NOT AMERICAN BBQ at all. The brisket is overcooked and very very dry to the point where it hurts to swallow. I really am considering opening a BBQ spot bc this should be illegal. My feeling are very hurt especially after spending $20 on this atrocity ‍ read more

We were in the area, so we decided to drop in for lunch. I liked the selection. My kid ordered a loaded baked potato and my husband and I both got 2 meat combos and subbed a bun for cornbread. I really liked that samples were provided. It really helped us make a decision. My daughter's potato was really good. I got pulled chicken and brisket w/ muddy spuds and cabbage. The sides were really good, but the meats were dry. Definitely needs sauce. My husband got catfish and sausage w/ muddy spuds and collards. He really liked all of his food. The catfish was ok to me. He liked the cornbread and I did not. I like mine a little sweeter. To go drinks were provided as well without asking and I really appreciated it. read more

Well cooked and tender, but as previously stated, no flavor. The potatoes were limp, not crisp at all, and none of the sauces were labeled. It made taste tasting interesting. The collards were spot on, though. Full of flavor. Cooked as represented in the menu. Still thinking about them now. I also ordered bread pudding because it's my go to if I see or actually on a menu. It wasnt terrible, but Not memorable. As i said about the sauces, I didn't know which one went with the dessert. The caramel actually tasted better with the bbq and to be honest, didn't really taste like caramel. Might try again if I'm in the area. This was take out due to COVID. Everything was individually wrapped, maybe too much so given the sauce confusion. read more

Love Dixie Bones. Been going there for years. The pork is great. Love the muddy spuds. My favorite is the catfish. Forget the tartar sauce, use the Alabama white sauce on the catfish. It's amazing. I've never tried the baked potatoes with barbecue on them, but they're extremely popular. My only disappointment is the ribs. Mine are better. But with all the truly delicious things on the menu, it hardly matters. The service is friendly and helpful. I'd recommend Dixie Bones to anyone who likes good barbecue. read more

Ordered the 2 meat combo. Got the Sausage and the BBQ Beef with green beans and macaroni and cheese. The beef is flavorless. Sauce is required to make this have any type of flavor. 3/10 Sausage was bad, Smokey flavor and good texture. 6/10 Green Beans- says they were made with pork. Taste like boiled green beans to me with zero seasoning. 1/10 Macaroni and cheese. Decent flavor and texture. Could use something to make the flavor better? Maybe a touch more of salt. 6/10 I'm a big barbecue fan and eat it every chance I get is why my scoring system is so harsh. I would recommend Mission BBQ over this. read more

Dixie Bones is a popular barbecue restaurant in Woodbridge, Virginia. Table service is offered, but there is a steady steam of take out business as well. One, of course, some here to enjoy the barbecue or ribs. A choice of pork, beef, or puled chicken barbecue is offered. Sandwiches are served dry--without barbecue sauce. You add your own barbecue sauce to taste from among four flavorful selections. Side dishes include French fries, Dixie Chips (thick cut potato chips), cornbread, potato salad, baked beans and coleslaw. A recent addition to the menu is the fried chicken sandwich. It beats the chicken sandwiches offered by popular fast food chains! If you are really hungry, try a Giant Stuffed Potato. This is a loaded baked potato with your choice of BBQ meat added! A slice of Pecan Pie nicely compliments a meal. Dixie Bones is a recommended stop when traveling along Interstate I-95. Woodbridge is a convenient stopping place , too, for through travelers just before or after the congestion of the Washington, DC, region. Weekday much specials are offered. Doordashed this food, there was not a single good dish that I had. I ordered a pint of chili (nasty), "beans and rice" (90% pinto beans and 10% rice, terrible, soggy, tasteless mac and cheese had cheddar grated on top of it. Baked beans tasted like ketchup, collard greens tasted unwashed and sweet, pulled pork was dry and flavorless. Cornbread as SUPER DRY. I tried to make it work with the sauce provided but it was runny and thin and overall not good. Genuinely impressed that not a single dish turned out good. Do not waste your money! read more

Food and service are good. I am not crazy about their barbecue chicken. Chicken is separated from the sauce. Ambiance is ok but dated. However, the cost is high for the small portions if you takeout; and I only do takeout. I think if they had less staff, they can cut cost for customers. Every time I have gone there, there were too many people behind the counter. I don't even know how many are in the kitchen. read more

I could've sworn I wrote a review about this place a while back but my family and I have been her dozens of times for the past few decades when we wanted to grab some bbq. I know the prices were fluctuating for the past year or two but we landed on this place for a weekday dinner. We placed an online order for two pulled pork plates and it was ready pretty quickly, maybe 15 minutes. Portions are still pretty big, lots of pork and went great with their white bbq sauce. The muddy spuds, arguably their best side, was as good as remember as well. The collards are ok, no complaints. My girlfriend liked her mac & cheese and baked beans as well. Her meal turned into lunch the next day so I guess for the average person, its enough for two people. Definitely some decent bbq and pretty nice staff. Depending what you get it can be hit or miss but its definitely worth a shot. read more

BBQ joint serving up all your bbq favorites, ribs, pulled pork , chicken , pulled chicken , brisket , catfish and more!! Perfectly smoked and bbq tasty tender and delicious. They offer different sauces from the Southern vinegar type to the traditional red sauce and even a white sauce- try all them ! Many side dishes available - my favorite are the potato salad and coleslaw - both creamy and lots of flavor. Also dont forget Cornbread- it is awesome - moist and flavorful goes perfect with any bbq dish. They offer inside dining as well as take-out. Meals can be purchased in combos or ala carte. They also have family packs as well as larger catering packs by the pound !! Dixie Bones also has a great selection of scrumptious desserts- so save some room -- yummmm. The price has always been higher than other BBQ places. The food is good so it didn't bother me as much. But lately, there is less food and prices are much higher. And the last stuffed potato I got only had about 1/4th cup of pork on it. Very disappointed. It was a favorite for me at lunch time. read more

Excellent bbq, prices have gone up a lot but quality is still good. Still highly recommended but not 5 of 5

Barbecue chicken was a little dry and the cornbread was not moist. I came here several years ago and it seemed much better then and also not as expensive. I found it to be a little bit pricey for the area. Giving it four stars now because I didn't review three years ago, but it was very good and now it seems to have gone down a little bit, but hopefully they'll get their game back up. read more

Very good traditional barbecue. Amazingly good pies. If you like old fashioned, traditional barbecue, then this is for you.

Okay, we are relatively new to Woodbridge but have lived in the NoVa area for 50+ years. I was excited to see all the 5 star reviews of Dixie Bones because it is a stone's throw from our neighborhood. We have ordered 4 times now thru Door Dash and with each order our disappointment grows. The portions are ok--sometimes enough to split, but the take out containers leave a lot to be desired. When your sides are so big and sloppy they run over into your main course, it's not very appetizing. See photo attached---that's collard juice and cole slaw dressing that our ribs were sitting in. Mmmmmm good?! Maybe you could place sides with juice in a separate container with its own lid? Also, why is it so difficult to read the order, 'double check' it with an orange marker, and have incorrect sides sent to the customer? For the record I did complain thru Door Dash and received a credit (but I would have preferred receiving the correct sides). Prices are high but we've become accustomed to that, with pandemic and ordering delivery. We don't mind paying a fair price for food prepared and served with care. Regrettably it'll be a long while before we try Dixie Bones again. If ever. read more

Terriblely bland food. I ordered delivery through DoorDash, so I can't say much about the ambience or staff, but the food is awful. No flavor, meat is dry, sweet tea isn't sweet, Mac and cheese is yellow flavorless mush. Honestly nothing we ordered was good. Not even the pie. If you had COViD and ate here, you wouldn't even know if you lost your sense of taste or not. It's that bland. read more
