I don't usually write food reviews but I thought I had to for this. Dixie Bones does great catfish, brisket, pull pork, stuff pototes but TERRIBLE ribs. The ribs are dry, tasteless, not falling off the bone tender. I don't know if it's old or leftovers or what. I ordered 2 ordered of ribs and I ate one rib. I had to throw away the rest. I was so disappointed. The catfish was awesome as usual. The brisket was good as well and the stuff potatoes and sides were equally good. I can make ribs at home better than that. I think Famous Dave's is even better. I had ribs from Ruby Tuesday the next night and they were by far more tender, fall of the bone tender with better flavor. My wife reminded me we didn't like the ribs 20 years ago but I had forgotten. What a shame. It was a $150 order and I threw away 2 orders of the ribs. Couldn't eat them. Let's start positive, their service is a 10/10! They're very friend and welcoming. Ambiance was koo too 7/10 but honestly alls i did was get my food to go. I've not been here in 20 years and didn't understand why until I had the beef brisket mac and cheese and baked beans.... The beans are fresh aht the can and have a hint of tomato. We have been going to Dixie Bones for at least 20 years. The down home atmosphere and Pleasant service is always a vibe. It has nostalgia and supports the local community which we love. The food is great, especially the collard greens, catfish, and our new favorite the smoked wings. Anytime we go there we always get the baked potato, which is the size of your hand and they can put anything such as the bbq chicken, pork, or brisket in the baked potato with cheese and sour cream or onions. if you like. Although prices have gone up extremely high in the last five years, we do make an attempt to try to buy lunch, which is a little less expensive and or do large orders. Just recently we went a couple weeks ago and the catfish was a little greasy in the pieces are getting smaller. The side dishes were average. The service was good. The second complaint is that Dixie Bones continues to email me. I've never written a review on anything before, I have eaten at Dixie Bones for years. Today I ordered online the rib plate (adding 2 extra ribs) with mac&cheese, collard greens and upscaled from a bun to the cornbread. Wow what a dissapointment, the ribs easily pulled off the bone, but was over-cooked (dry). The collards were not the wet collards I was used to, I chewed the greens until I had to spit it out looking like Skoal tobacco product. The Mac&Cheese was extremely cheesy, creamy, but lack taste. I paid $37.14 for a wish rib plate (oh $5.22 was a tip). I use to brag about Dixie Bones. I'll have to find a new Rib spot. I hope the local SQUIRRELS like RIBS. read more

I really do like this place. The people who come here, the staff who take care of you, and the food are all excellent. However, what I don't like are the prices and the horrible idea of a la carte. For a family of four, one will spend no less than $60-$70. What makes this meal so expensive is that every main item on the menu is a la carte. This means that if you want a side with your meal, you have to pay extra. I do not like this culinary idea of nickel and diming patrons. However, on the positive side, I promise that you will get full from such an expensive meal. Their BBQ is very tasty! What I like about their food is that you can tell everything is fresh and not franchise (BTW, the baked potato is a meal by itself). Dixie bones was recommended to me so I decided to give it a try. I love good BBQ, especially ribs. That is typically my go to anytime I try out a new bbq spot. I ordered a pint of chili (nasty), "beans and rice" (90% pinto beans and 10% rice, terrible, soggy, tasteless mac and cheese had cheddar grated on top of it. Love Dixie Bones. Been going there for years. The pork is great. Love the muddy spuds. My favorite is the catfish. Forget the tartar sauce, use the Alabama white sauce on the catfish. It's amazing. I've never tried the baked potatoes with barbecue on them, but they're extremely popular. My only disappointment is the ribs. Mine are better. I could've sworn I wrote a review about this place a while back but my family and I have been her dozens of times for the past few decades when we wanted to grab some bbq. I know the prices were fluctuating for the past year or two but we landed on this place for a weekday dinner. We placed an online order for two pulled pork plates and it was ready pretty quickly, maybe 15 minutes. Portions are still pretty big, lots of pork and went great with their white bbq sauce. The muddy spuds, arguably their best side, was as good as remember as well. The collards are ok, no complaints. My girlfriend liked her mac & cheese and baked beans as well. Her meal turned into lunch the next day so I guess for the average person, its enough for two people. Definitely some decent bbq and pretty nice staff. Depending what you get it can be hit or miss but its definitely worth a shot. read more

Okay, we are relatively new to Woodbridge but have lived in the NoVa area for 50+ years. I was excited to see all the 5 star reviews of Dixie Bones because it is a stone's throw from our neighborhood. We have ordered 4 times now thru Door Dash and with each order our disappointment grows. The portions are ok--sometimes enough to split, but the take out containers leave a lot to be desired. When your sides are so big and sloppy they run over into your main course, it's not very appetizing. See photo attached---that's collard juice and cole slaw dressing that our ribs were sitting in. Mmmmmm good?! Maybe you could place sides with juice in a separate container with its own lid? Also, why is it so difficult to read the order, 'double check' it with an orange marker, and have incorrect sides sent to the customer? For the record I did complain thru Door Dash and received a credit (but I would have preferred receiving the correct sides). Prices are high but we've become accustomed to that, with pandemic and ordering delivery. We don't mind paying a fair price for food prepared and served with care.
