(I ordered DoorDash) I ordered the 1/2 Chicken Meal, with onion rings, fries, a side of cheese fries, and jalapeno poppers. The food was packaged wonderfully, and was nice and hot on arrival. Inside of the jalapeno poppers container, there were five chicken wing sized jalapeno poppers. This would be my first time trying jalapeno poppers. It was a generous portion of half a jalapeno and significant filling, to compliment. They honestly weren't too hot and I rather enjoyed them. Inside of the container for the rotisserie chicken, fries and onion rings, there were a few pieces of chicken and six onion rings. The chicken had a beautiful herb-like taste to it. The chicken skin was soft and easily torn apart. The chicken meat was tender and able to be pulled away easily, while at the same time remaining juicy and flavorful. The pieces included in the half chicken were the leg, thigh, breast, and wing. The onion rings were a lovely beer-battered type, with light fluffy crunchy breading and a nice tender onion inside. This is my favorite way to get them. These are not the cheap style crunchy-crisp ones with a hard exterior shell. Inside of the container for the cheese fries there was a generous portion of cheese and fries with the cheese being evenly spread across the top of all the fries. The cheese fries were lovely. The fries were cooked just right and the cheese had just a slight hint of a spiced kicked to it, while remaining in the background on the edges of your tongue, not a full-frontal heated assault. On the downside, The meal didn't come with any napkins or utensils. Though with this kind of meal you shouldn't necessarily need it - but it would have been nice to see that it was included, as an option... Overall, the meal was enjoyable and I would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a new rotisserie chicken place. This one is a win in my book! read more

I am picky when it comes to chicken in general, so my standards for Peruvian chicken are even higher. I had so many bad experiences when I lived in DC, but Ricky's was a very nice change of pace. The chicken is NOT dry (even the white meat!) and filled with flavor on its own. I won't say I didn't LOVE it with both the green and the yellow sauces, but I mostly used those for the delicious yuca . I got a side of salad as well; it was average. We order as a group from Ricky's chicken every other Friday and have been for 6 months, two weeks ago we got rice instead of the fries we ordered with the chicken which was fine accidents happen, today we ordered a birria quesadilla that comes with rice and paid extra for a small Fry. The order was missing the small fry so my associate had to drive all the way back with the order only to be disrespected because they wanted to take the rice out and we showed them the menu that it comes with the order and we paid extra for a side small fry, the cashier then accused us of removing the fry box and we showed her where the bag was tied and there was no room for the fries! We didn't get them we are not trying to scam you the chicken here is awesome which is why our office orders from you every pay day, but if being called thieves is not enough she then continued to complain about us in Spanish as if we wouldn't understand it! When I first started going to Ricky's I would only get the steak sandwich but one day one of the workers recommended the Lomo Saltado. I'm so glad she did because it's AMAZING! Since trying it here, I've ordered the same dish at other places but none have been as good as Ricky's. I have never eaten the chicken I always get the Lomo Saltado which I really like. So sorry I can't comment on the quality of the chicken. The place is very small I think about 6 tables and on the times I have went it was always crowded. There was steady stream of customers of various nationalities purchasing food. The majority of the staff (the ones I have encountered) are working on their English so if you place an order over the phone, please be PATIENT with them. They are very nice (especially the guy) and friendly to me as well as the people in the place. In terms of the food the meat was cooked perfectly as well as the fries. They weren't too soggy as I have encountered at other places when getting this meal to go. The rice and sauce is yummy and I must agree with the other yelper about the peas!! As you can see in my pic, I think I had half of one in my meal! Onions were nice and sweet also. I always get the rice pudding which is yummy but they were out of it on this day :(. They also have a good selection of various juices and sodas. I usually order over the phone and when I arrive it's always hot and ready. On the one time when I ordered in person by the time I went to the bathroom, bank, and back my food was ready. We dined in and saw how busy this place was with take out orders. The plantains seemed to be a hit as a side order here. The roasted chicken deserves three stars. It was pretty good; tender and nicely flavored although I agree with another reviewer that El Pollo Rico might be a touch better. The yucca we ordered was also fine. The carne asada looked fabulous the seasonings made it seem like someone had confused salt for all other spices known to man. We tried pairing bites of the steak with the rice, tortilla, and both sauces but could not mellow out the over-salt. Finally, we complained about how salty the steak was. Disappointed is being generous. Ordered online, was charged to do so even though I wasn't made aware of a fee to order online, and they encouraged ordering online. I saw it in my receipt when I picked up. Ordered pupusas and they put them on top of a thin piece of wax paper, that was soaked through in grease and that laid on top of the slaw. So it was all wilted, hot and soggy. I checked the bag and when I noticed, and asked if I could just pay for a side of slaw, and not make it a big deal. It was given to me for free. Ordered 1/2 chicken with yuca and rice. Had to pay extra for white meat, even though it's half of the chicken. Fine.. But then there was hardly any meat on the bones. Rice was plain, no flavor. Yellow sauce is not traditional. It's tangy and more like a salad dressing Yuca... missing from the bag. I called to tell them and they gaslit me. I was kind in letting them know and not even an apology, just a straight "are you sure?" Like... really? Yes I'm sure, I'm staring at a puddle of chicken juice in the container where the yuca should be. I told them to just forget about it. Won't bother ordering from here again. I came here for lunch many years ago as I heard it was really good. But I wasn't impressed that time and never came back. So, when someone suggested it again recently, I decided to give it a try again and the experience was the same. The restaurant is mediocre when it comes to cleanliness, but for a place that cooks and sells Peruvian Spiced rotisserie chicken, there was absolutely no smell of this upon entering! I expected to enjoy some great smells and there was nothing, which was slightly disappointing, but I ordered the chicken anyway. The Yuca I got was very thick cut and was barely fried through and through, so when trying to bite it, it was nearly raw in the middle, which was "yucka!" The rice was tasty though. And when it came to the chicken, I realized why I didn't smell anything - it was clearly pre-cooked and very dry. It probably came from a warmer. I get that they can't really make rotisserie chicken to order, but it should be somewhat close to fresh or they can make chicken the way Nando's does, pre-spiced and marinated, but cooked to order. They also have Styrofoam plates and plastic spoons and bottles of soda, etc. Not what I prefer, but something I can most definitely take, if the food was worth it. I really love Ricky's chicken and am a regular here. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I think that the only truly stellar meal here is the chicken. Anything else is average. That said, if you go for the chicken, it's outstanding! The portions are huge and prices reasonable. Peruvian chicken is one of my favorite foods and the way that Ricky's seasons their chickens is addictive and keeps me coming back. It tastes hearty, juicy and flavorful. The sides are all delicious, my favorites being the plantains, fried yucca and the rice (which is chock full of veggies and even olives!). Chicken also comes with two sauces, of which I can't choose a favorite because I love them both so much. The yellow sauce is very creamy, tangy and almost sweet, while the green is refreshing and a tad spicy. The horchata is also delicious and made in house. Love to go to Ricky's when I need a quick, no frills but extremely satisfying meal. Can't recommend the chicken enough! read more

I stopped in at 7pm for a quick dinner to go. And I was highly disappointed. The chicken was good. The yellow sauce is weird, I think they put vinegar in it, instead of yellow - it's pinkish. They charge you$0.25 per sauce. Most places give you one yellow and one green complimentary, but they do not. And the Yuca was so overdone it was brown and hard. I haven't found a good place for pupusas in the woodbridge area until now. They have really good chicken and their white dipping sauce is delicious. The 1/4 chicken comes with 2 sides, I get the yuca and the rice and it is very filling. Its probably a little expensive but you would pay the same amount for a #1 at McDonalds and definitely a lot better quality! The place is small and looks dirty but they keep the place clean. Not much space for a lot of people. Very Spanish, they even have novelas playing on the TV but if you are looking for authentic food, you should really stop by. read more
