Crispy chicken burger.
Brad H.

It just average. Nothing special about the character of the location. Typical strip mall eatery. Staff was friendly though a little hard to understand. Food was good, not great. Prices are a bit high. If it ain't Sunday there is a better option nearby. On Sunday, it might be worth the drive a little further.

Shrimp&steak sub

Great food, fast friendly service! a little pricy, $15 for a shrimp&steak sub but what isn't nowadays.. will definitely get again!!

Lemon pepper wings

I have yet to be disappointed with this place! Everything is really good. Our favorite items are the wings (honey old bay and lemon pepper/ fried) and the fried catfish. We eat here about once a week now. If you want fried fish or chicken in bulk/ family meal portions that isn't long john silvers or Popeyes or KFC, this surpasses all of those by a long shot!

It is worth visiting even if you are not playing games. If you are a member of the player's club, you can swipe your card for specials and coupons. The prices are reasonable. Your choices are limited but after you have tried the fries, you won't want anything else. They will make you weep. I can totally see buying a portion to share and not sharing. You could also buy fries to share and get another order and not share it. The spice mixture includes sugar. I asked for ketchup before I knew how great these fries were going to be. I might have to apologize to the fries. Even if fries are off your diet, you should try one. These fries deserve a movie of the week, a hit song and an emoji. Alex and Ani should create a charm bracelet dedicated to them. Actors should thank these fries in their acceptance speeches. The flatbreads are great too. They have thin and thicker soft ones. Sodas are $2. The signature Rosie smashed burgers are wonderful. They are $9.99 (with those awesome fries). On Wednesdays you can get a Rosie burger for $5.00 when you swipe your member card for coupons. Weekends are busier than weekdays. I wonder if Rosie fries have met boardwalk fries.

The picture promised naked wings -- bare, confident, unclothed wings living their best life. What arrived was breaded. Fully clothed. Wearing a coat we did not order. This is bait and switch at the sauce level, and I want a refund on my trust. We got 10 hot and 5 lemon pepper. The hot wings tasted like someone opened a bottle of Frank's RedHot, showed it to the chicken from across the room, and called it seasoning. The breading itself was thick but not offensively so -- more "linebacker" than "Michelin man." Heat level: medium, despite being billed as hot, and the wings had a slight greasiness that wasn't a dealbreaker, just an unwelcome plus-one. The seasoned fries showed up allegedly seasoned. The seasoning was salt. Just salt. Salt doing its one job and getting all the credit for a team effort it didn't put in. The lemon pepper wings were fine -- perfectly respectable, solidly "okay," the culinary equivalent of a shrug. We've had better lemon pepper at random beach shacks that don't even have a website. Final verdict: 3/5 wings. The lemon pepper seasoning did show up and hydrate the breading nicely -- genuine bright spot. Everything else was a wing that looked better in its headshot than in person.

The place was empty of customers on a Saturday morning at 11:30 but started to get good traffic coming in. This place is clean. Like really clean. Veterans get a discount, just show card. I was able to order a crab cake by itself and get it spicy. Loved it. I also ordered the shack pack spicy. Came with my choice of fish and shrimp. I could have gotten it blackened, grilled or fried(spicy/no spicy). Top tier food. Shrimp has a different batter on it. Shrimp was deveined and de-tailed. Clear vision of quality. They have proper condiments. Condiment bottles were all clean. No mess on them. My food came out in to go containers and it had a liner on the bottom, but their wasn't much grease on it. Great sign. Corn bread was good, but I am from Arkansas, they could throw some jalapenos in their, but it had a nice buttery flavor, just right. Will I return, yes. Might try a blackened blue cat next time.

Definitely felt vibrant and clean, so that is a huge plus. As we were ordering our food, their waitress taking our order was very short with us. She seemed quick, not extremely welcoming but it wasn't major. Just something we both noticed. I will say the food was my mistake. I should have gotten something a bit more appealing and have a better chance of tasting better. But I ordered the Crabzilla, my fiancé got the hush puppy platter. She loved majority of her food, especially the hush puppies. I had one, they were excellent. My Crabzilla was an absolute beast, I'll give it that. However, it isn't something I'll order again. I actually felt pretty gross afterwords. It could have been psychological because it has two literally soft shell crabs dipped and fried, practically looking at their face as you're eating it. So I think that's on me. But overall, it was somewhere we wanted to go and enjoyed a vast majority of it.

We checked out of the Holiday Inn Express across the street and had that thing where you want…read morebreakfast but don't want to eat at the same place you always do. Quick Google, and Montclair Family Restaurant popped up basically a stone's throw away. Sold. Pulled in and the lot was full, cars circling for spots. Honestly that's usually a great sign for a breakfast spot but a rough sign for actually parking. We were about to give up and go around the block when somebody backed out right in front of us. Walked in and there were two tables left in the whole place. We felt like we'd used up a week of luck before 10am. Black coffee for me, water for her, nothing fancy. But the coffee was genuinely excellent, which I don't take for granted at a family restaurant. A lot of places treat coffee like an afterthought and this one clearly doesn't. I saw a Greek omelette on the menu and had never had one, so that decision made itself. My fiancée went with the pancake tacos, which neither of us had ever seen anywhere before. My omelette came out and it was eggcellent. The real star was the tzatziki, which was one of the best I've had anywhere, not just at breakfast. My one honest gripe is the home fries showed up cold. But I dumped some of that tzatziki on them and suddenly the temperature stopped being a problem. Then there's the pancake tacos. Absolutely to die for. Picture a fancy McGriddle with a lot more going on and a lot more food. My fiancée is normally very generous about sharing, and this time I got exactly one bite before she made it clear that's all I'm getting. Jealous of her order for the second time this weekend. We will be returning for dinner next time we are in town!

I've been wanting to try Montclair Family Restaurant for years. I see people raving about it all…read morethe time on social media. So we decided to try it tonight. I have to say I was sadly underwhelmed. I had the gyro dinner and found it to be pretty flavorless. The service was just ok and given there were only 6-8 people in the restaurant I would've expected more. I wouldn't rule out trying it again if I was in the area but it wasn't worth the 30-minute drive. I did notice the people in there seemed to be regulars so maybe there's something to the overall family-like vibe.

So I tried using the app, but we were at the place before I got the through one burger on app!! So he dropped me off and went with grands to get pizza up the road. I knocked on window and the young lady at the door was VERY helpful in explaining the new ordering procedure. I work midnight to 8am so I'm a bit out of the "loop." She took my order, was helpful, suggestive, instructive and a real pleasure in these trying times. A real bubbly gem of a person! While I was waiting for my order 3 other people showed up, yes we were practicing "safe distancing." When she came back with #3's order as they used the app, MY order was also ready!! WHO-HOO!!! We don't eat out much because of the preservatives & chemicals used in most commercial kitchens. 5 guys is plain & simple, basic and you can (usually) watch your food being made!
