Good service, food is good but plenty of room for improvements. The interior of the restaurant is kept well.

My daughter had a craving for a seafood boil after traveling, and we were happy to find Tasty Crab just a mile away--perfect timing for happy hour. The service stood out right away: Nick, the host, and our waitress, Bri, were both quick and genuinely comforting. The atmosphere had a great vibe with good music playing in the background. We started with happy hour appetizers--calamari and mozzarella sticks. Unfortunately, neither impressed me. The mozzarella sticks were clearly frozen, and while the calamari looked good, it was too tough to enjoy. For our main dish, we ordered a pound of snow crab legs with added eggs and sausage. My daughter really enjoyed it, and I'd agree the seafood boil was the highlight of our visit. I also had a margarita, which was surprisingly great! If I return, it'll be just for the seafood boil and drinks--the rest didn't quite hit the mark. read more

Terrible! I promise you I will never be back. We waited a while for someone to come to our table to greet us. The lady comes and we tell her its our first time (the boils on the menu have no prices so we ask how much is everything) we order and she brings out the boil. Heres the issue she NEVER comes back. She doesnt check to see if we like it, or if we need anthing. The restaurant is dead. We are looking around to see if we can get a refill or anything. Someone who was cleaning tables gets us refills. We are done which by the way the seafood was sooo bland. The sauce tasted watery. We tell the random person who got us refills we have a birthday and to get us a dessert. Well it takes 20 minutes to get that. The server goes do you want your check and im like uh we ordered a dessert. Takes her then 30 minutes to get us the check. She said she forgot to get it for us. If you want a place with rubber shrimp, and somehow too sweet sauce that makes you nauseous, this is the place. To start off, they told my wife that they were out every drink she ordered, literally every drink. Our server was nice, and clearly we know she doesn't make the food, but when we express our concern and you immediately try to cover up for it, you are part of the blame. The sauce tasted like half a bottle of honey was put in it, and it didn't tasted like the seafood it was cooked with the sauce. Had to wait a long time to be served, food was ok, quantity was enough. Half the people we dined with were almost done eating before the rest of us received our food. No extra napkins given, no water refills, no wipes given, table was dirty, no silverware, the waitress was also confused at the end of what food we ordered when we asked for the check. The food from here was really good. My first time trying it from here. The catfish was excellent, and the shrimp were good. The fries were decent. One thing I found really odd though was that the shrimp weren't all the same -- 2 still had tails on, and 2 had tails off. When I took the tails off the two that still had them on, the shrimp weren't de-veined, and full of waste matter. Gross! At $1.25 each, you would come to expect them to be. I don't usually do sauces at places, but since it was my first time trying this place I tried the white sauce that came with the meal - it had almost no flavor to it; completely bland. The other sauce (red) was your standard cocktail sauce they always give with shrimp. The fish was really delicious. The fish was breaded well, seasoned well, and really flaky. I loved it. read more

This place was cozy. I went to try their crab cakes with my family, who wanted to try and never tried them. The food we had was excellent. I have no complaints. The owner or chef I think gave us an extra order of hush puppies because it was going to take them a long time to prepare the crab cakes--they had to make them to order because they had run out of pre-prepared. So, I mean this was great because their hush puppies were DELICIOUS. I mean I'd go back just for the hush puppies. Their crab cakes were great. The service was kinda slow, I had to ask for our drinks a second time. But honestly, they were so nice. If it was busy maybe the servers need more training. Came in and saw the sign wait to be seated. About 90% empty and we waited for nearly 10 min to be seated when there was only 1 table with a couple. Food took forever to be served and when it was, the soup was cold the gumbo did not taste like how gumbo should (makes you wonder if the sausage in it were just hotdogs with 2 pcs of tiny scallops). For the wine I said I didn't want anything sweet and I ended up with their only red that tasted like candy, I poured the rest in the bucket. I'm very frustrated with my recent experiences with Tasty Crab, My first order had to be canceled because they didn't have an item listed on the menu,, which was incredibly inconvenient. I then placed a second order hoping to finally get what I wanted, but unfortunately, the second order was missing a sandwich from this order. It's incredibly disappointing not receive the items you've paid for, especially not once, but twice. I then called the establishment to speak to the manager, and someone pretending to be the manager whom I later caught in a lie finally put the manager on the phone. The all-you-can-eat crab was fresh, flavorful, and served hot--perfectly steamed with just the right amount of seasoning. They kept the crab coming without any long waits, and every batch was just as delicious as the first. What really stood out was the quality. Ok, let's start with, I've been craving a seafood boil for about 2 weeks. It's New Year so figured treat myself and Uber Eats a mild garlic butter black mussel special. It's supposed to come with 1/2lb mussel, 1/2lb snow crab legs and 1/2lb shrimp. They forgot the crab legs (which I was most looking forward to) but the most alarming part was I have never in my life had a dry seafood boil! They forgot the garlic butter sauce and this seafood boil showed up as dry as a bone. Quite literally inedible! Our travels took us to DC this weekend for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Before we left the area, we aimed to get some blue crab. We tried Tasty Crab. Upon arrival we were seated quickly. At first the place is a typical bag boil type of establishment. We decided on the Crab King meal and split it. 2.75 lbs of king, blue crab (we asked for crawfish substitute because they ran out of blue crab), crawfish, snow crab, Dungeness crab, corn cob, and sausages. We decided on the Louisiana seasoning with medium heat. This was the best sauce We have ever had a boil type place!!!!! It bursts with flavor and medium heat was perfect! It created a warmth but not much heat. The crawfish were great but the shells were soft and made them harder to crack. Each crab was absolutely deli and cooked perfectly. The corn fell off the cob. The sausages were insanely favorable. Overall, this place was insanely good! I highly recommend this place. It rivals some of the best places I've had in Alabama and Louisiana! I'm updating my initial glowing review because we've had such issues with with Tasty Crab over the past few months. We've been trying to support local businesses by doing takeout orders, but after today's latest mishap in a string of disappointing service missteps, we have placed our last order with Tasty Crab. Today we drove out of our way to grab some takeout after an outdoor hike, only to arrive home and discover that all of our sides were left at the restaurant. Normally I would be better about checking the order before I left, but since it was about half full inside the dining area with unmasked customers--and not even the staff was being good about mask wearing (they were pulling down their masks and eating at the counter before touching the register)--I just wanted to get out of there. During the past few takeout attempts, we have placed our orders, only to be met with an empty host desk, 20+ minute wait times after the orders were supposed to be ready, and inconsistent food temperatures. (I'm guessing parts of the order were ready and sat waiting while they finished the rest.) Additionally, today's experience was not the first time we've seen employees without masks or eating while at the front register. We've also had consistently frustrating issues with their app and online ordering partners. It was really hit or miss as to whether any sort of digital ordering would be working on any given day. We really wanted to support Tasty Crab, especially since we did enjoy the food most of the time. However, after today's unfortunate hour-long drive time to actually get our full order, we have decided we are done being customers at this establishment. read more

The fish taste like water, and it is farm raised. It's not from the sea. This is man made fish people. You can taste the difference if yo were born in the 60s and below. My Mom was wise. She only bought her fish from a place in Brooklyn on Belmont St. That was years ago. I don't know if they still sell fresh catch fish. But, It's still there. When I was a child we shopped there.
