The RA was not helpful, it continued. Spoke with the head of the department and was treated like a complainer and not taken seriously. I personally had to go in person and speak with the roommate and was treated like the problem, when I had written proof of the bullying etc. It was my daughter's first college experience and I felt like the school failed. My daughter also is a minority student and I felt like it could have also been a reason for the lack of action and poor treatment. I eventually had to PAY for another room so she could be at peace. When she wasn't the problem! It is a beautiful campus but feels like it falls short of making minority students feel welcome. I witnessed students writing racial slurs on white boards on campus, " Jews can die", etc and profanity. Not a good look for a school to allow things like this to happen. Beware if you are a minority student, it doesn't treat you well.

Dating back to 1910, it's grown and grown to the point that it's now the third-largest university in Ohio. And of course, it's infamously known as the site where the May 4 shootings took place where the National Guard fired on students assembled and protesting in opposition to the US involvement in the Vietnam War. There is a huge memorial and of course, the Center for Applied Conflict Management that was founded after those events. [Review 1362 of 2024 - 281 in Ohio - 22385 overall]

I grew up going to this little theatre, and the addition of the luxury seating options a few years ago truly leveled it up. I have never had a problem with Kent Plaza; it might've been rough on the outside, but the inside was clean, well staffed and the food was good. In my last few visits, it has been increasingly evident that the place is being neglected. The bathrooms are in dire need of updating and the luxury seating is breaking down (one seat didn't recline and another the back was lose). The ticket counter is never open leading to asinine concession lines, and as minor as it may seem, the screens above the theatres never have what is playing displayed. While all of these things may be small, it speaks to a lack of effort to keep this business alive. As someone who loves this theatre, I beg whoever is managing it to please put a little more effort into the dignity of this theatre. Do not become a theatre or business that just puts the bare minimum amount of effort into keeping it afloat. I recommend bringing back birthday parties as they're a great way to draw in customers and make a little bit of money. IF YOU ARE A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING: This theatre is amazing and has the best discounts in the area. The quality is okay and you will not have a bad experience going here. To whoever is running this place, I beg of you to put a little more effort into keeping the dignity of the theatre intact. -A Kent local and Kent plaza frequent costumer

Now all I can think is, "What took us so long"! Kent, Ohio is a cute town, surrounding a beautiful University campus. It is a pleasure to drive through and very easy to navigate. We arrived at the museum this morning which is FREE on Sunday. A nice contemporary building on the campus. Easy to park, easy to enter, and easy to get around. Upon entering you are greeted by a friendly face at the reception desk that is more than happy to answer any questions and provide directions. It is layed out on the main and 2nd floors on both sides of the central hall. The exhibits are absolutely beautiful. They included clothing through the century, jewelry, glass & ceramics, and designs from the university fashion design department. As well as a fabulous exhibit by artist LeRoy Neiman. Everything is exceptionally beautiful. After you spend plenty of time exploring the museum you'll have no problem finding a nice place to relax, eat and have drinks in town. We had a marvelous time today and I'm confident you will too. Do yourself a favor and visit the "Kent State University Museum"... It's amazing.

The emphasis is on fashion, and I especially liked the history timeline. The purse collection in the hallway is colorful and fun. The quilts were stunning and displayed in a bright and spacious gallery with a mirrored view. There's an admission fee most days but Sunday was free. The museum isn't big, but it has a very professional feel and includes a gift shop sells works made by students, and the building is very attractive and located right on campus. Definitely worth a visit.
