The RA was not helpful, it continued. Spoke with the head of the department and was treated like a complainer and not taken seriously. I personally had to go in person and speak with the roommate and was treated like the problem, when I had written proof of the bullying etc. It was my daughter's first college experience and I felt like the school failed. My daughter also is a minority student and I felt like it could have also been a reason for the lack of action and poor treatment. I eventually had to PAY for another room so she could be at peace. When she wasn't the problem! It is a beautiful campus but feels like it falls short of making minority students feel welcome. I witnessed students writing racial slurs on white boards on campus, " Jews can die", etc and profanity. Not a good look for a school to allow things like this to happen. Beware if you are a minority student, it doesn't treat you well.

I came on the last Friday of the semester (last day of classes). I came during lunch time and arrived alone as the other friends invited couldn't come. When I arrived on campus, there were signs leading me to Strosacker Hall which is where I needed to go. I appreciated the big parking lot which is free. I entered Durst Welcome Center to get help leading me to the entrance of Strosacker Hall and the student worker was helpful in directing me at which point I found my friend. I visited Strosacker Hall (Student Union building) which is where the dining hall is. The options for lunch were quite good. I chose rice and beef which came with green and red peppers. I also got apple juice, a cookie, and a small red velvet Bundt cake. I left full and satisfied. My friend enjoys being an undergraduate student here so if you are looking for a small liberal arts University then go and visit the campus of Baldwin Wallace and meet some staff members. It was a horrible place to live on the one hand because it was completely isolated from other freshman. On the other hand, it was a great place to live because everyone knows freshman are stupid. The first year I lived here I remember speaking to a junior or senior sorority girl telling her I lived in North Hall. She kept asking me "which one" until I realized that she thought I meant a dorm on North Quad. At a school with an undergrad population of around 2,500 she didn't know that my dorm of a couple hundred students even existed. B-W was very divided along a North/South Bagley Road split but it has slowly joined. Even by my second year (I lived there again because it was one of the only buildings with singles) things had changed. I like to take credit for its notoriety. There is a 24 hour computer lab.

Knowing what I know now I would have fled this school and attended Cleveland Heights High. Every…read moreday I was depressed here. I just wish I'd understood that plenty of local schools are so much better. Ignatius routinely employs uncertified alumni with little experience. Two teachers and a coach were emotionally and psychologically abusive. I was a year younger than all the other students which doesn't help in this toxic environment. Homophobia and racism are endemic. Zero science during freshman year, zero opportunity to socialize with girls. Ignatius now offers a health science mentoring and internship program, probably because they noticed very few of us smarties were prepared for medical studies. They had to improve their game given the exhorbitant tuition and inferior curriculum compared to good public schools in the area that have four years of science, superior arts programs, healthier culture and don't subject young boys to four years of mandatory religious indoctrination. They actually told us there was zero networking for medical school. It seems like efforts were made to improve, but I would never send my son's here or indeed to any "Catholic" school after my experience. If your parents hold you back a year or two in one of the local "Catholic" grade schools, play football and the administration will shepherd you with better instructors and manipulate your record to improve your GPA.
