Going into my appointment with Ashley, I hadn't had a haircut in a WHILE. There was buildup on my hair to the point that I was fighting my hair just to brush it every morning. Ashley listened, looked at my inspo pic, and created a game plan. She's been doing hair for 18 years and it shows. I am beyond happy with the result. After the appointment, She didn't try to upsell me on hair products, which honestly I would've bought anything she told me to lol. If TLDR: I paid $227 for the service pictured below and was refused a refund Let me start off this review by saying that the only purpose of this review is to inform future possible customers of the service and experience I personally received and I plan to only state pure facts. I would also like to issue a genuine apology to the assistant manager for my language, as you can imagine, being a 17 yr old girl my appearance is very important to me and this being my first conflict with a "professional" place of business I did not at the time know how best to handle it. I booked on Wednesday the 17th a microfoil and cut with Kathrine (who I will say was very polite) the microfoil is described on their website as being "a technique for ultra-fine precision foiling which creates a seamless shimmer of color" I'll let you decide if the service I received in the pictures below matches that description. When I saw a few days later what had been done to my hair I went back in to the store and asked what could be done, they offered to tone it or re do the service which I appreciated but later called to decline and simply asked for a refund. Because the owner of the store was not in I could not get a refund at that time which is totally fine I understand that however it would be nice for you to include that more obviously on your website. I also would have liked to be informed before starting my service that you would not be able to match my hair color on my roots. And please do not blame me for the way you made my hair look I have another hairstylist who can confirm that your claims of how it's my fault are incorrect. I also feel I was quite overcharged because on your website price estimate it says I will be paying $190.00 however you charged me $215.00 maybe that's because of the other half a bowl of bleach? I'm not sure. I would also like to request that you stop trying to associate me with every poor comment you get on your page, any reviews that I had anything to do with were taken down. I would also like to add that having your sister message my mother about this situation when I guarantee you she hasn't seen what was done is quite immature and shocking. I've put a week between my final hair appointment and writing this review because I've had positive experiences at this salon in the past and I thought my hair stylist was very nice. I didn't want to write a negative review while my emotions were running high. However, I very much regret going to this salon for balayage and wish there was a review like this for me to read prior to booking. Upon making the appointment, I was clear that my hair was probably going to be a challenge: I've had fashion colors in the past, which I colored over with brown dye from Sally's and then added fashion color purple over that. I understood there was a Russian nesting doll situation going on and this was probably every colorist's worst nightmare. Before we even started working on my hair, we booked a second appointment, understanding that this would be a process. Little did I know it would take 8+ hours cumulatively and not result in my sample photo that I was told could be achieved. After I went home after the first appointment (2+ hours), I looked at my itemized receipt that was incorrect. I brought it to their attention which they gladly fixed ($30 over charged), although I was confused as to why I was paying for many, many highlights I received when I never wanted highlights. I wanted a two-appointment process from my original color to the balayage photo references I kept sharing. (Oh, and the stylist was pleasantly surprised with how easy my hair color was lifting, so my hair color layers didn't end up being an issue.) I talked to my stylist on the phone communicating my concern about the process which seemed more complicated now that she had to work with purple tinted hair mixed amongst very bright blonde hairs. It didn't make sense to me. SO many highlights. SO many foils--she even took a photo and counted them when she removed them for a "guess how many" challenge for her friends. She adjusted my cost some more after our conversation, and it would have been a great deal for balayage (around $160, I believe), if only I would have gotten balayage as a result. As we talked on the phone, she said that some purple may still show in my hair, which really bummed me out because that was never communicated to me prior to starting the process. (Although I don't see purple in my final result, I'm relieved to say.) This phone call was not comfortable nor short. Anyway, the second appointment started with talking about my hair for another 30 minutes because she wanted to be very sure that she was clear with me, which I would have appreciated had the final result been what was promised. I kept showing her reference photos of balayage with face framing highlights. That.is.what.I.want. Sigh. (Cry.) As she was working, she showed me the back so I could see how things were looking. I communicated concern that it wasn't light enough. She insisted that it was a level 10 (the lightest)--that once my roots were painted, the contrast would be there. The entire second appointment took 6 hours and was extremely damaging to my hair--some of the many, many highlights were inevitably re-bleached to take out more purple, and she blow dried my hair after each section was shampooed out--probably four or five times. In the end, I got a hair color that I don't hate but I sure don't like and didn't want. I felt guilty communicating this with the stylist after she asked me what I thought. I told her I didn't think it looked like balayage or like the reference photos I showed her and wasn't what I wanted. She offered to fix it during another appointment, but so much time and damaged hair has already been lost. I don't think I would have been satisfied with any solution other than a full refund. Used to get my hair cut here regularly and they did a good job. I went recently, and really had one of worst hair experiences I've had in years. The haircut itself was a 2 out if 10. I had to go elsewhere to get it fixed. The experience itself was also very odd. I tried engaging in conversation. I asked questions about products, styles, and the like. All of got back was shrugs and something like "hm, not sure." Very disengaged, especially when I've had good conversations with this stylist previously - multiple times. Overall, an unwelcome experience, and a bad haircut to boot. read more

My DevaCut with Julia was fantastic! This was my first visit to Divine Salon and my first curly haircut. From beginning to end, it was a great, professional experience. The front desk person was excellent. The salon was clean, bustling, and welcoming. Julia put me at ease immediately. Her initial consultation was great. She spent all the time I needed discussing my expectations. She answered my questions clearly and fully. She even reminded me that I had photos to share; I had forgotten about them in my nervous excitement. Julia worked efficiently and smoothly through the dry haircut, wash, style, drying, and final touchup. Her attention to detail is amazing. I called to schedule an appointment after salons opened and my salon was booking out several months. They had an appointment open within a couple of days, so I booked it. The lady told me they needed a credit card on file. I asked for what, she said they don't take cash. I had never been there, don't know who this salon is or how they handle sensitive information. I didn't know if they write it down to store it, nothing. I said I will not have a credit card on file and she said she needed to cancel the appointment. Too uncomfortable for me. read more

Went here today on a whim after work because of the nice reviews and all. I called when I was on my way and they said they could fit me in. 15 mins later I met Kayla, my stylist, and we were having a nice chat about what to do with all my wild and crazy curls. She had some great suggestions about how to cut my hair, and I really appreciated her ability to talk and cut at the same time (some stylists just fail at that, ya know?). Anyway, I walked out with a headful of lighter, fluffier, well-shaped hair, a chocolate (yum!) and a business card. I will definitely be going back to do some color!!! P.S. The price is right here. I was very disappointed with my recent visit. This summer I was searching for a new salon as my stylist moved the Divine was recommend. My first haircut was good, not great but I was happy. Iwent this past week and from the time I left my car until getting back in the car was 15 minutes, I have odd strands of hair not the same length and other than blow drying my hair there was no styling for product used. I've been going to get my hair done with Joy for about 1.5 years. She does a phenomenal job on my hair and waxing my eyebrows (which I'm incredibly picky about). I will never go anywhere else again. I went in for a hair cut based on these reviews... . Hannah gave my one of the worst hair cuts of my life! I showed her a picture of myself with a hair style I had 2 years ago, it is a layered shoulder length style. The hair cut I got from her is a short bob. It's about 3 inches shorter than I requested, which is a HUGE difference. It's also uneven and just plain awful. After she thought she was finished I had to point out the fact that the two side were completely uneven and one side was not even layered. She didn't seem confident at all and I wish she would have told me she didn't know how to do the look I requested. I've written in to Divine Salon 3 different times trying to request a time to come in and get it fixed. They have not responded. I DO NOT recommended going to Hannah. She needs more training. I tried this salon on Groupon Now! and was pleasantly surprised. I am always bouncing around looking for a new stylist. I have loved some of my hairstylists, but they either have left and can't disclose where they went, or their prices continue to increase as they gain seniority. I walked into this quaint, neighborhood salon and had a sweet girl, Stephanie. I don't know how she cut my hair, but I love it every time I style it. The best part was that they did not seem to be waiting for a tip at checkout! It made me want to tip more! Worth a visit if you are searching around! read more

I have being using Divine Salon for more than a year, and I'm very happy with their service. Emily is my stylist who is always so friendly and most importantly, knows hair! If I show her a celebrity haircut, she tells me how/if it will work for my hair type. I also SO appreciate the time she takes explaining the styling techniques. I've learned how to better style my hair at home. It's never quite as good as when she does it, but I'm very pleased with her cuts! read more

I scheduled a haircut for my husband and purchased a women's haircut for him since he has long hair and the woman that cut his hair completely messed it up. She didn't wash it and just cut it dry. It was uneven, poorly cut and not what we asked for. Very disappointed in the service he received. If you are looking for a trendy salon in the suburbs that doesn't overcharge, then look no further than Divine Salon. The salon itself is so darn cute! But, what keeps me coming back year after year (it's been close to 6 years maybe?), is amazing Hannah! She's consistent when I'm simply looking for a trim, and yet, will find a perfect style for when I'm feeling a little cagey! I've had her color my hair with new techniques, save my hair with treatments and even style my hair for my engagement pictures. If she knows I have an special outing that day, she'll take the extra time to make sure I'm looking my best (birthdays, wedding and baby showers, etc.). She's taken a few minutes to teach me how to style my hair with loose waves. Divine has a great selection of products, brushes and jewelry too. Since it had been 2 weeks... the person answering the phone had to get an ok from the owner first...ok no prob...she was going to call me back. 2 days went by... no call. I have never had a worse haircut in my life. There are about 7 different layers in my hair, all of which are uneven. There is a clear chunk of hair missing that just makes my hair look hideous and embarrassing. As soon as I left the salon, I immediately began to cry. This is honestly a joke of a haircut. read more

I have been to Divine Salon twice now and I have been very happy with the experience. Hannah cut and colored my hair both times and I couldn't be happier with the results. I showed her a picture of a short hair cut that I liked and she nailed it! I left the coloring up to her...just told her I wanted more blonde in my hair and she did a great job giving me blonde highlights that match my skin tone. I found a groupon for Divine Salon so I decided to give it a go. I made an appointment with Hannah who helped me decide on a cut that would suit my needs---I wanted it long enough to pull into a pony, but short enough to give me a noticeable change. I also wanted a cut that would work with my face shape. She explained her thoughts and together we decided on the perfect cut. Not only did I love my cut, she did an absolutely fantastic job on my highlights too. I've received many compliments on my hair. I would recommend Hannah to anyone! Very disappointed. Spent a significant amount of time making appointment weeks in advance, took time off work, upon arrival was told I didn't have an appointment and they couldn't possibly get in. I have visited Emily at Divine Salon countless times and never want to go anywhere else to have my hair cut or colored! Emily is so great at what she does. Last time I was in for a cut I was a bit nervous to have over 6" cut off, but Emily reassured me that it would look amazing, and I am SO GLAD I did it! After my most recent visit I find myself WANTING to style my hair, which is so not like me.
