Ok, moving on... Emi was super friendly and didn't make any of us feel like we were too stiff to be there (thank God, I saw bullets streaming down hubby's face when we pulled into the parking lot). The event we attended was called Elites Get Coupled, which was appropriate given that it was almost Valentine's Day. Though my guy was totally nervous about this, I'm so glad we went! Emi, along with Lorien, taught us some merengue moves, and it turns out almost anyone can learn to dance. We felt pretty good about our abilities by the end of the event! Lorien brought in her all-girl hip-hop group (I think they're part of the Pin-Up Troupe?), and they were SO COOL... and talented, obviously. I could have watched these ladies perform all day!! Though they may have had me feeling like my new merengue moves were a little lame, at least now I know I have something to work towards... right? One of the best parts about Dancefx is the fact that they're a non-profit and donate to all kinds of local charities that support causes like fighting AIDS, helping the homeless and people with disabilities, and so on. I think it'd be such a thoughtful date idea to bring someone here and learn a couples dance! You get to know each other in a different way and can judge once and for all who's got better moves (I think we all know who won that dance off...wink wink). I adore Mrs. Kathy; she is an incredible instructor and so good with all the kids. She is very kind and always encouraged students to perform at the utmost of their ability and it was understood that it is always a pleasure to have Miss Kathy's praise. Miss Amy, however, was a different story. She was always 15 minutes late, and came to class with her hair in a ponytail. She would then proceed to take another 5 minutes to put up her hair and yell at the kids whose hair didn't stay in place or wasn't in a tight bun. (I found out later that she brushed her teeth at the beginning of every class...and it took 15 minutes. Hm...?) We spent another 15-20 minutes stretching, doing lots of exercises from before and then -maybe- learning one new move. I didn't learn much after several months, and that was when I started to dislike ballet from the boredom of every class. (FYI Amy left a while back. Hmm, I wonder why?) I moved onto pointe, and I loved it under Miss Forsberg (we called her "Madame"), until my toes started bleeding and I had to stop dancing all together. They say that you have to go under all this training for muscle memory, and yes, it does take muscle memory to become a good ballerina, but I thought it excessive. The studio also offers jazz and modern under Ryan Hall. What do I think? I think you should take your money and time to Atlanta Ballet, not here. I've been to both and AB is far superior in formal training and seriousness.

It's really easy to spot the location as you approach the shopping plaza from the south, and it took me less than 5 minutes to get here from I-285. The studio is nicely decorated, giving a comfy, welcoming feeling when you enter. This is in stark contrast to some studios I've gone to that are basic and drab. There is only space for one class at a time, but the floor is huge! I'm thinking there would be more than enough room for a class of 30 people. There are barres (the portable kind) for hosting ballet classes, and weights of all sizes for fitness classes. The floor is kind of slippery, so if you tend to dance barefoot a lot and have soft feet (like me - definitely slipped a couple times lol) I'd suggest to at least wear some jazz footies with a grip bottom. There is ample cubbie space to store your belongings during class. There's even a good amount of waiting room for parents if you're looking to hold a class for children. Also there is a dressing room in addition to one unisex bathroom. On my way out, I spoke to the owner who was extremely friendly and mentioned that the studio has several time slots open for rentals at the moment. Dance instructors - check this place out!

I want to share my bad experience with X3 Sports. Before my contract ended in July, I tried to…read morecancel it in June to avoid being put into a buying relationship after July. They directed me to their website to cancel, which I did. I didn't think much of it until I received an email in August telling me that I would be eligible for cancellation in September, which was not true. It wasn't long before I discovered I was locked into a "subscription trap." They kept withdrawing money from my account for three months, totaling $450.00! This made me really frustrated and upset. I ended up having to reach out to my bank and cancel my card. I thought X3 Sports would be more helpful and clear about cancellations. I warn others to be careful if they think about joining X3 Sports because getting out of this "subscription trap" is very difficult.
